I've had my eyes on a 1958 fender precision which go anywhere from 2000-6000 dollars and I just cant settle on anything else because I'm so in love with its tone, then I found this on my local music stores website.... it sounds so similar and it's $4,380 cheaper I'm gonna do a little bit more research but i think this is what I'll be getting for sure
Check out the Danelectro '64 bass, a tribute to the Mosrite "surf" instruments. Long scale awesomeness. I picked one up and it's an amazingly fun bass to play. Big single coil at the neck, and humbucking lipsticks at the bridge.
Sounds pretty dang good. Saw Bugs Henderson's bass player use one once & was amazed how he made it smoke with the thinner neck. Wish you use this bridge on the Strato looking bass. You'd be close to a 60's Framus Strato bass.
Nope. He planned to use one, because they were among the only bass strung with roundwounds at the time and he liked the sound, but every night at the gig he kept breaking strings and there were no replacement ; so he had to buy a new Dano but again, the string broke ; bought another one (3? in total) , etc. He finally got fed up and recorded with a Fender Jazz Bass strung with LaBella Flatwound strings... He said he simplified the solo, can't imagine what it would have been...
I have two hofner 500/1 and a Danelectro Longhorn, for me the sound is fantastic. Playability is fantastic and I like the sound of both...I like jazz bass sound too but , still my hand can´t control still the dimensions of that beast...
I consume egg 99 Er, a weird slap tone. Because it’s hollow, you get an insane amount of the body resonance when you slap. The biggest issue with slapping is the body size, it’s quite awkward. Great bass though, I love mine.
Kevin Rutmanis owns two custom basses built by Erich Chaz which were based on the shape of the body of the Longhorn (one is orange and the other one is green) but apparently they are bigger and the headstock is completely different, similar to a Fender stratocaster.
@@alexanderkorte-stapff6824 lefties can be had in the u.s. as well but i'm in canada so i'll just have to have one imported ( and pay xtra for shipping...#$%^&*!
@@frankjuster8726 yeah that sucks. Lefties also don't have any used market either. Its tough. But good luck finding one eventually. Maybe your local guitar store can order one for you?
@@alexanderkorte-stapff6824 unfortunately , no...i found a lefty dano longhorn for sale at adirondack guitars in upstate new york near the u.s.-canada border , only a 2 hour drive from me so i'll try them . i appreciatr your response.
i saw some video footage of jack bruce playing with cream using only his fingers.in fact , i never saw him play with a pick even once...his dano or his gibson eb-3.
This iconic bass is hollow, light, short-scale, but with 24 frets because of the cutaway. It has stacked tone and volume controls for each pickup, so you have lots of control over the shape of the sound. It looks cool and it was used on MANY recordings in the 60s and 70s. There are still many people that like using this bass in the studio because of its distinctive sound and on stage because of its very unique look, comfort, and playability. The new high-output pickups should drive modern bass effects very well just adding to its flexibility.

Incredible bass!
Anyone else here after seeing Maneskin's bass player Victoria playing one of these? It is a very eye catching instrument!
Ciao
HGAHAHAHA YES but I just wanted to buy that
Hii 🤭
me
Just bought one yesterday. I'm a guitar player in need of a bass, and this is perfect. Maneskin's performance of Beggin on SNL was epic!

What strings are being used? Just the stock ones?
I play Dano guitars and basses as well. My favorite basses are Dano and Hofner.

Doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg to sound good, used to have one and miss it
Does the bass come with a case? Or is a DanElectro case available?
Rinus Gerritsen “Golden Earring”.
Does the shorthorn 59DC sound the same? I like the look of it better but can’t find any demo’s of it
Im gonig to pick one up at sam ash tomorrow
Are the fretboards rosewood?
Hey, from which song is the bass Line played at 0:40? Thank you!
Is there good slap tone on this bass?

Danelectro Longhorn sounds definitely terrible when it's finger picked. Apparently 💄 pickups aren't made to that purpose..
PENNA KULLAN LAN!

Lipstick pickups sound good with a hard pick. The bass itself though is ehh.. aesthetically compromised, shall we say?
it sounds so good....but is ugly af
Could it be uglier?
This is the ugliest bass i have ever seen
ugliest bass ever hahaha
This bass kinda sucks haha
why? I have one, and it works just as well as my American P bass
