  • Today I finally get to test out the new 2021 Giant TCR advanced Pro 1 disc. I linked up with a small group after work one day so I could get a complete first impression of the bike.
    Unboxing Video:

    All things held constant I may get to race a bike in the next couple of weeks!

    Thanks for the review! I ordered this 2021 TCR from my local bike shop last week after researching half a dozen bikes. I currently ride a 2008 Madone (which over the years have upgraded the wheels and components) but I thought it was time for a new bike. The review made me feel good about my purchase. Thanks again for the great review!

    A very nice review!
    So good to see more TCR's lovers.
    There were days (2013) that i was passing every day near the Giant shop and fantasized on a white/black tcr advanced....
    And finally bought it.
    The TCR has a shape that makes me crazy.
    The sloping tube, the short chain stays, the shape of the tubes with that massive rectangular down tube , and big strong head tube. Im addicted!
    But its not only the look (though i admit its the bigger side of my addiction), also the geometry of the bike makes the handling feel great! The bikes is stable and strong but also comply enough.
    All of this makes it a pleasure and lot of enjoyment to ride it!
    There are great other bikes, BMC with its stable and comfy ride, Canyon Ultimate, Scott Addict ( what a great company),
    But the TCR, ho the TCR is my best!!
    🌹

    Great video thanks for posting up, I was really keen on the new 2021 Revolt Advanced, would you say the TCR advanced pro is massively stiffer ride and not very compliant on poor roads especially with 25’s, I’m mid 50’s and want a fast bike that’s really compliant and not edgy on the steering and will put the power down really well. Maybe half way with the defy advanced pro would give best of both worlds.?

      @MossieRidesBikes  Před 3 lety +2

      Thank you! I love the TCR and for as fast as the bike is I think it's comfortable. With that being said, the Defy would definitely be the midpoint between the revolt and the TCR. I've seen people race the defy in a cyclocross race as well as a crit race so it's an extremely versatile bike!

      @@MossieRidesBikes Thanks for the info, that’s interesting re using defy as CX bike, I do love the GRX levers and higher brake pivot point on Revolt, do you think I will lose out a fair bit of speed with a revolt advanced to a defy advanced pro.? Also on Revolt size wise I’m 5f 11” and in side leg 33” have long arms. I do like a longer wheelbase and the reach on M/L vs L only 6mm but like the idea of 46cm handle bars on L , thanks Derek

    Thanks for taking the time to put the videos together. This one and the unboxing one were just what I was looking for. I too am a bit underwhelmed with the colors Giant went with but will still be looking to get the rosewood one myself.
    I do have a couple questions. I recently purchased a Giant Revolt Advanced 0. I love the bike. I went with a size large and I just love how compact the bike feels. So much more responsive than my 19 XL Giant Defy advanced. Problem with the Revolt is that I have the seat at maximum height and it is about 3/4 of an inch too low for me. My girlfriend says size doesn't matter but in this case... it does.
    Do you think I will have the same issue if I go with a size Large 2021 TCR?
    And question number 2- Other than buying the aluminum d-fuse seatpost for the Revolt... any suggestions on how I can get my saddle up another 3/4 of an inch?

    • @MossieRidesBikes
      @MossieRidesBikes  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks for the kind words! Let me take a look at the geometry of the two bikes before I give you a definitive answer on if the large or XL would work better for you. As for the current bike you have, I believe the only thing you could do is to get the longer seatpost.

    • @cycletim1
      @cycletim1 Před 4 lety

      @@MossieRidesBikes thank you for such a quick reply. I was pretty sure there would be no other option than to go with the aluminum post on the Revolt. I just hate the thought of spending money to go from a carbon post to aluminum on such a nice bike.
      I looked at the geometry of the large TCR compared to the large Revolt but honestly... I'm not knowledgeable enough to determine if ill be able to get the height needed out of the TCR based on looking at the numbers.
      Thanks for any insight you can provide.

    Great video! I've been riding Cannondale but I'm considering Giant. Just confused with all the TCR frames. What's the difference with the Advanced and Advanced Pro? I know the SL is the lightest and stiffest composite. And what is the price point on this bike that you featured?

    • @MossieRidesBikes
      @MossieRidesBikes  Před 3 lety +3

      The advanced is base model carbon and usually an aluminum steer tube. The pro gets a bump up in carbon, plus the carbon steer tube. Then the sl is mainly the use of the integrated seatpost that lightens the bike up and it rides nicer as well. The pro 1 in the video retails at $4300 I believe. I hope that helps!

    • @drscre
      @drscre Před 3 lety +1

      There is no difference in the frame. Just the fork: aluminum steerer on advanced vs carbon steerer on advanced pro.

    • @reoencarcelado5904
      @reoencarcelado5904 Před 2 měsíci

      it USED to be [what the other people said,] aluminum steerer-tube and carbon-fiber front-fork. but for several years now (it’s listed as-so on Giant’s own website) it’s-been “carbon-fiber steerer-tube and carbon-fiber front-fork”, starting-with the Year-2020-model TCR, if memory serves me.
      in addition to that, the “SL”-model uses a DIFFERENT blend-&-layup of carbon-fiber (one which Giant claims has [, if memory serves me,] for extra-stiffness & extra strength) AND a “integrated seatpost” (ie. that the seat-post isn’t 1-separate-piece. It’s part-of the frame).

      Mossie Rides Bikes ; thx mate, i hoped your group would try each others bike out, but that ofcourse depends on sizes and what not. I tried a cv bianchi vs a non-cv bianchi and i thought it worked well (especially chose a bad, wobbly, belgium-alike road). Bianchi dealer promised me a infinito cv to test for a day or more in coming week. Sofar i liked the otre x3’s position more, more racy, but not extremely deep. I still put the TCR in general as one of the best frames I’ve ever ridden. Having the ISP makes the bike just a little lighter and ride just a little nicer but it is more expensive. Honestly, in todays limited inventory I would probably take whichever one I could find😅

    Can I ask how much an ISP affects convenience? Like how worth it is it? Cause im torn whether to get this advanced pro over the SL due to the latter having ISP Great vid btw thanks and keep it up

    • @MossieRidesBikes
      @MossieRidesBikes  Před 3 lety +1

      I love the ISP and it does make the bike ride better from a comfortability standpoint. The frame is also lighter but it is pretty nominal. As far as convenience goes I haven't ever been hindered by it but I could see it being a pain if you needed to ship your bike or take it with you on a flight. There is also a decent amount of adjustment with the different spacers so you aren't actually stuck where you cut it.

I have a set of ZIPP 404 (rim brake) on my current bike and should I buy the cheapest TCR PRO Ultegra + RIM version and crappy wheels (and replace them with my 404's), or just sell my old bike along with those and buy a disc version of TCR or even defy?
