- We met this beautiful Akwapim queen at Akropong.
Saying she looked regal and captivating will be an understatement. Even more captivating were her steps and body movements when she took to the floor.
When the Akwapim fontomfrom started blurring, we observed her from a distance tapping her feet on the ground and gesturing unconsciously in a manner suggestive that she was itching to hit the stage; she managed to resist the urge but only for a while.
The young drummers kept varying the rhythm as if to pull her on stage at all cost. “EventuaRRy”, the queen lost her ‘resistance’ and swung to her feet and onto the stage followed by her entourage.
The rest of what she did and how she did it was captured in this video for your viewing pleasure.
It was indeed a sight to behold.

Akwapim
Asantes don't dance like this.
All the Akans came from
the same lineage , just a little variations in the dance , not any substantial differences
