Looking for resistance bands chest exercise that doesn't require you to anchor the bands to anything? In this video James Grage is going to show you how to perform a wraparound chest press with bands.
1. Take a heavier resistance band and wrap it behind your back. Keep it nice and high. You don't want it so high that it rolls off your shoulder, but as high as you can where it's comfortable.
2. Grab each end of the band with each hand.
3. This is going to look a lot like a normal chest press, but it's not. Instead of just pushing straight to the middle you're going to rotate your hands as you press so that your pinky fingers come together.
4. Make sure to really squeeze your chest as you do this movement.
PRO TIP: It's not just about going through the range of motion. It's about making sure you get that peak contraction. Really squeeze each rep.
The first time you do this, it's might feel a little bit unfamiliar That's okay. As you do them, you're going to get better at them and you're going to feel them even more.
That is how to perform a variation of a chest press using resistance bands.

Im always amazed by how effective bands are. Your really adding a lot to this niche of fitness and its great
great content once again from the guy who made me fall in love with bands
Wow, the pinkies together really does give extra squeeze for the chest!
Thanks for this! It would help to specify what parts of the muscle this targets (whole chest? lower chest?)
Whole chest but more emphasis on the lower chest
It's like a hybrid of dumbbell press and fly
Whenever any new video comes out from James sir, there may always new thing to learn about resistance bands :)....i started bands workout after following his videos...it's been more than 3 months but being now out of action due to being COVID positive at past week and later suffering with stomach infection...i would desperate to resume my workout routine with bands!
Great band exercise. Thanks James. More please.

Good stuff.. great info
Any chance you are planning on doing a new full body unanchored rbt video soon?
Been watching the one you and your wife did a few years ago but would be nice seeing an upgrade version of that one 🙂
Keep up the good work!
I have a question. I know it's NOT about the numbers per se, but let's be honest - we're "guys" lol and the Standard Bench Press Classic is 225 lbs. (NFL Combine/NHL Draft/ etc) So just out of curiosity using the "wrapped behind the back" technique either standing or laying on a bench, gripping each end of the band in your hand and pressing; what stated resistance (80-200, 90-230, 120-275, etc) would a person need to use to get approximately the same "effect" or feeling of doing a 225 lb Barbell Bench Press? (Or even to say they can "Bench 225."
Nice 👍👋😉
What about the eccentric portion of this exercise? It seems like James isn't focusing on it at all.
Avec toutes les vidéos qu'il poste , je me demande pourquoi j'ai acheté les programmes
