I have no of the Mauritius stamps, they are too difficult to get and very expensive. Regarding the cape of good hope I have some of the triangels and the differentiation between the three conditions of the paper was very interesting to me. OK, blue and not blue is easy, but i never saw how to judge the inbetween. There are a lot of fakes (I own some as well) and may be a video about the differentiations if it is a genuine or a fake stamp would be also very interesting.

Hi Oliver. One of the main differences is that almost all fakes are not produced by an engraved method, if you have one genuine example you can put a fake next to it and then they can then be seen more accurately with the engraved impressions looking a little raised and crisper. The slight bluing can be sometime just appear behind the inked parts and not all the paper. We'll try to do another video at some stage. Thanks for watching.

Hi Clinton. Although I put the case for the Mauritius I'll accept that it's a close call! In fact I just remembered that a Cape 4d blue was the stamp which got me my first job (on Saturdays) in the stamp business. I was 14 or 15 and went into my local stamp store with a question about which of the two printings it might have been from? I now know that it was a very tough question but the owner knew a Stamp Nerd when he met one and the rest is history! Vincent.
