For your VR set, make SURE that your lightboxes aren't reflecting on a window. If there are windows in that room, draw down the blinds and retest.
I don't have the VIVE, but I have an Index (which I understand is a very similar sensor system) and it definitely HATES reflections off of glass.
Good luck!
That's awesome that you worked with DerBauer and so many other people to get this setup working. You definitely connected with the right people. Such a sick setup!
Looking forward to the livestreams!
I'm very very surprised Misha. Always thought you were one of those hard-core real life racing guys, not even thinking about SIM racing. This is a really nice surprise.
@slowinfastout Apart from Lewis Hamilton, he hates the sims so bad.
Or cause Max is much into sim racing that Lewis hates it.
Legend has it that Misha can turn sub 7 minute laps while editing videos simultaneously
Omg i love that setup, big props for owning it! cant wait for streams or sim racing content
We 1000000% need a Assetto lobby to make some car meets/convoys on Nürburgring with our shitboxes lol New videographer already?
Thank you Misha for the great review. I am happy if you like your Simtag simulator that much. Keep pushing man!
For the ‘real’ feeling and immersion, nothing beats VR. ACC in VR is just 👌🏼
Enjoy the setup Misha!
I agree for VR regarding immersion and feel. Its just such a different thing from a screen. Seeing how steep some track sections really are (Nordschleife and Spa e.g.) in stereoscopic 3d is a real "game changer". You have a complete different feel for finding the line. Seeing how close you're to the apex. Seeing gaps in racing to attack. I prefer racing in VR to the most. Yet.... I can't stand it in ACC. Particularly in VR the graphics are just awful im comparison to even the ancient Assetto Corsa tweaked by some mods (CSP, SOL etc.). I struggle to wrap my mind around it, because on the screen ACC is really beautiful but in VR it just sucks. Of course, when you keep driving you'll get used to how bad it is and be stunned when you even go back to Assetto Corsa a bit later.
In my opinion, the most beautiful Nordschleife for VR is in Automobilista 2. Just love it when the sun rays come through the trees when you're flying through fox hole.
Have fun racing!
@@petrstepancik9168 Yeah.. TBH... I've seen nothing worse in VR than ACC.
Awesome, was looking forward to that kind of video and can't wait to tune in for your live streams Misha! :) You have an amazing setup for sure, would love to see it fully in action.
Personally I don't have much space for a sim rig, so I am running a compact setup with Reverb G2 and it's awesome, so maybe you could look into that when it comes to VR racing, because it's not requiring a base for tracking.
Thank you for sharing it. Real life comparisons would be my top wish + real life hints in the sim in the sense of how to improve driving.
Yes, if you don't open often iRacing often enough, it needs some time to download the updates, but usually less than 1 min. Love the continuous and frequent updates we get there.
Thanks a lot, Misha!
Cool to see this! I started simracing myself a year ago at a friend's place and fell in love with it. Will build a budget simracing setup around my existing PC rig with my buddy's old fanatec csl setup. He's going for the direct drive now.
Wow, thank you so much for showing your rig. I must say, this is the first Internet project ever that I'm "hyped" for. Over the last year I got into sim racing and over the couple of weeks I finally designed and build my own custom rig from scratch and it was such a fun project. Took me about 200 work hours to plan and build but was the best thing that could happen to me right now because I've been going to rough personal times. Now with the full rig I'm running Fanatec direct drive system and really love it.
Like you, my favorite thing is the Nordschleife. In VR, the most beautiful version of the Nordschleife you'll find in Automobilista 2 in my opinion. Love it! Sadly in Automobilista 2 you're fairly limited in the variety of cars. So that is why I'm also driving Assetto Corsa the most.
I share your opinion, that the new Assetto Corsa Competizione has be best "feel". The feel of the curbs, load shift under breaking. It really stands out and I hope there will be a Assetto Corsa 2 that will have the same possibilities of content as the current one, but will get the physics of the new ACC.
Sad thing is, ACC sucks in VR. It looks bad to an extend, that I just don't want to drive it in VR. For the last year, before I got the rig, I've been only driving in VR because I just had a too small screen and my then wheel was strapped to the desk. Wasn't good to drive. Now on the rig I have a big screen and can finally enjoy playing ACC again without VR!
I'm really looking forward to having a drive with the community one day on the Nordschleife. Seriously! Hyped for it.
Man!! Have i been waiting for this video for quite some time now!!! :)
glad it’s out!
Wow, what an insane Rig (and PC) you got there! Really awesome. And yes, AC still is a great sim, especially now with Content Manager, CSP, SOL etc.!
god, Misha, I am really impressed with your gaming/editing setup. it's really beautiful. I wish that I could own them someday!
I have been waiting for so long to see this, best Xmas present ever!
Does this mean you'll be joining us in the Nordschleife Mercedes F1 hotlap challenge?
Кстати, вот идея для видоса: сравнить нордшляйфе в разных симах. Ас, амс2, рфактор2, айрейсинг. Тебе как реальному гонщику это будет просто, а зрителям интересно.
Oh the new editor/videographer is here! Great edit 🤩
Awesome rig, Misha! Enjoy it!
Man that is dope setup. Thanks for showing us your rig.
Hi Misha, awesome rig, congrats to it! Love your channel and its diversity, looking very much forward to your content. About the VR kit, it's very important to know that the tracking of the Vive Pro is done via infrared lasers that are sweeping the room. If there is ANYTHING nearby which reflects the light sources, this will throw off the tracking (because the Vive "sees" the reflections as additional lighthouses). You say that it happens near the sim rig, which points to the monitors in front as the most likely source of reflection. But it could also be the Sim Engineering dash screen or any window nearby (EDIT: it could also be the whiteboard behind the monitors). Step #1 for debugging would be to remove the monitors (or cover them with a cloth) and see if the problem persists. For racing, an ideal setup for the lighthouses would be facing you from the left and right (as opposite to diagonally across the room, which is advised for VR gaming where you move around 360°). Having both lighthouses face you frontally over the monitor should also mitigate the reflection issues (IF it's the monitors in your case). Hope it helps, let us know!
I had (apparently) emi on my simrig. Unexplainable disconnects of different hardware. Then bought an antistatic rubber mat for around 40eu and all problems were gone. And never came back either.
OMG! Amazing Rig. Thnx for sharing.💯
Can't wait for some racing streams on twitch. Great video and amazing editing 👍
Misha man love the channel! You're on it brother!
I like it, I went with triple 27's but a much cheaper setup all around. Even added "shake-it" motors to replicate RPM, road vibration, and ABS engagement. Love the videos sir, great job!
This setup is so well done in every aspect, only thing I would do differently is a triple monitor setup for editing, helps a lot with multitasking and just an overall better work flow
Great setup and thanks for sharing!
YES!! really excited to see some updates which lobbies, discord-channels,... will rise out of this ' announcement'. AC and ACC are my main sims and would love to drive with and against you, as well as learn!
I agree on Assetto, I just want to jump into any one of a few hundred cars and drive on one of several hundred tracks, with ‘good enough’ realism.
Rig is awesome, I really want to ditch my crappy G27 and go direct drive but when everything costs as much as a turbo, it’s really hard to not buy the turbo
@@Vezon-7 Yeah but you need to add a wheel rim, shifter and pedals. ££££
fanatec has a pretty cheap and amazingly good direct drive wheel base BUT it adds up when you add pedals, shifter and a wheel
yesssss the video i've waited for a long time
Wonderful explanation. Glad to hear AC feels the most real.
so excited for the streams, im on west coast NA but ill def try and tune in!
Wow! What a nice Sim-Rig. The pedals are awesome. We have the same motto of spending money for the things we believe to need. Better spend more for quality than beeing disappointed from the cheap stuff. But we seem to have different budgets 😕 Hope to race with you someday!
Misha that is crazy about your left leg being stronger because of sim braking! SIMTAG is damn impressive. #Respect
can't wait to seeing you next year in the Dacia :)) what an adventure it was. you'll have to make it live this time, next year. hope i'll see you, jimmer, jards, supergt, malinowski, balwin, boothby, ommen, dalking, and many others, in an epic 6 9 12 or 24 hrs race, just for fun and for testing the rig in stressful conditions :)
Great video, SimTag pedals are awesome🤤
you are getting big man, very nice :)
Awesome set-up !!
Hope to see you one day on iRacing when you'll have time for competitive simraces !!
About the pedals, what i saw is that irl sports drivers (we have some in our team) want hydraulic pedals and "pure" simracers don't necessary need these. They're more on load cells pedals like VRS, Heusinkveld or Simtrecs and others.
The final is the same, a sensor, a pressure and a signal to the computer, both are equals finally depends what you're searching about feeling.
Misha, you should try Automobilista 2 if you are not already. It also has great physics compared to AC and ACC, and also had Nordschleife track there! You would like it!
What an insane setup, not overkill at all but designed for a purpose. With computer parts always buy the best you can afford and you seemed to absolutely get that. Hopefully will get to drive side by side with you in Assetto Corsa.
Personally driving Japanese Touge roads is up there with the Nordschleife in my opinion. Tracks are super narrow with no forgiveness in mistakes and can span multiple miles. It's where I spent most of my time learning car control (until the Nordschleife) and where I would still be spending a lot of time if there were more servers hosting different tracks. I also love 90s Japanese cars so I am a little bias.
Welcome to simracing, hope you'll have a fun time
Would love to see you doing some hotlaps in ACC on different tracks, mental simrig though nice!
I would recommend some form of LFE like a Buttkicker. Put one in each of the four corners of the rig and tune them to simulate tire vibrations and road surfaces. I've never been a fan of motion rigs, but I tried a quad LFE setup like 4 years ago and it blew me away. I'm sure with those crazy pedals you'll get an even better feel for threshold braking.
Really interesting, even though I'm not invested in sim-racing. I like that your rig is multi-purpose for editing too.
Quite elite that your PC rig is water cooled, but your real racer at hand (993) air-cooled.
Welcome to the family! 😀
Thank you so very much. You are an absolute legend.
About the Tracker, i still use the first gen HTC Vive and i have set both tracker to the front. Like on 10 and 2 o clock, the left one is about 3m away and above me, the right one is 1m away and above me. Make sure that both tracker are aiming directly to your seating position, they work really well for - especially because my simrig is standing next to an wall ( wall right side about 40-50 cm away ).
Very nice sim! Only recommendation would be a simcore shaft extension ( for the steering column ) so you can place the monitor in between the wheel base and the steering wheel, FOV is much better! Try I bet you gonna like it . 👍🏻
Picked up ACC when it was on sale last month, don't know why I waited so long to get it. AC feels great but ACC is a huge improvement. Currently enjoying the GT4 series before I graduate to GT3.
great explain - str chassis looks great - i run the same pedals - i can just agree to what you said
Sweet rig Misha!
Wow Misha nice to see you Simracing. I really like your setup, especially the simtag pedals. For my own i use the Fanatec DD2 with 911 GT3R Wheel and some CSP V3 (Update planned).
I think your vr setup really struggle to EMI issue, its very common with direct drive and valve Index and can be solved with magnets. Moreover I think pimax 8kx or HP G2 would fit much better to rest of your setup.
What I would like to see a comparison and realtalk about the different sims. (AC, ACC, iracing, rfactor 2 and RaceRoom) I like them all cause every sim has something special and do it best on their own way and points. My main is iracing, coming back everytime cause of the overall and the service. On physics I m with rfactor2 and ACC.
Bought a Hyundai I20 for the daughter this week for the same price 😂Very nice Simrig !!! I'm looking forward to the videos!
Good for you bro something the common man can only dream of.
Awesome rig! VR is the way to go, but TrackIR is a nice middle ground if you don't want to wear that VR headset all day. TrackIR tracks your head movement, so you can look around. It actually feels natural after a little while, just download a nice profile for it. It's just a small IR transmitter and camera you put on top of the monitor, and a small clip to put on a hat. I use it for flight sims. Works great, and it's relatively cheap.
Beautiful Rig funny I'm running your livery at the Nurburgring. Two laps GT Sport Four Winds and four podiums so far. I smashed the like button and join the channel beautiful rig.😘
MAGNIFIQUE SET UP😮
I'm super stoked to race with you misha!
Misha, you have the same issue as I have. I fixed it with these: "2 stuk(s) 500731 Ringkern met coating" from Conrad. Loop your Vive cable five times through these ferrite cores and you're good te go!
Nice specs you are actually very good not only with cars it seems
Amazing set up. Iv heard the new asetto corsa that’s coming will be 120hz fresh rate but u will need an oled screen as far as I know. Amazing set up misha 🤘🏻
I cant wait for a collab with Jimmy Broadbent. These 2 together will be legendary.
Triple monitor imo is the way to go, purely because of angles. You can angle each monitor exactly to your liking/games view. Whereas a single ultra wide(which is extremely nice btw) will stretch and bend your image where it needs too. You can fiddle with settings to make it better but it never reaches the triple monitors level.
Hi Misha ,Amazing Rig🙏🙏,I'm with you ACC nothing better, love your shows ,have a great Xmas, Herron W.A
That looks a great racing simulator! I particularly like the pedals! I used to race in the 80'S up to the early 90'S the pedals have not changed and I like that you left foot brake as I thought it was simulating a manual gearbox bit it is not so you can as I do with my car left foot brake! I bet it is very nice with the steering rack set up too! As I Always found the earlier types you did not get the correct feel from the whole set up! Sadly! Perhaps one day I might look into one like yours??
Quality review thnks !
Nurburgring only, nothing else!! Dang. I love the ring too, its by far my favorite but broaden your horizons comrade! LOL. Dope setup though, must be nice to have sponsors!
Man, that hardware is absolutely insane. also, yeah, that sparco seat, someone will definitely chuck that in a car lmao
also, how 'bout 2 superwide screens lol
Cable Management! XD The rest is fire 🔥
Very nice set up. Give raceroom a try. awesome ffb and physics lots of content open wheelers, modern touring cars to historic e30 m3s volvo 240 turbo etc. Its the only sim I race and I have tried them all.
This is going to be great when everybody battling on the Nürburgring
For this kind of money , you can get a pretty good dof6 motion platform, and a 3 screen bigger setup. I personally never would buy this setup for that kind of money. The tilton is the best there is and your pc is also very good , you did well for those specs. In the end great setup hope you're happy with it and enjoy!!
I hope I get the opportunity to drive with you this winter! Just upgraded to DD two weeks ago, so I'm ready.
I just got a new computer with the same processor, video card and 128Gb RAM. I got mine for doing visual effects work, can’t wait to get all my software installed so I can experience the AMG levels of performance of the RTX 3090. Bring back the Summits with Robert!
The most relatable sim racing content for me is just the regular iRacing series, but you'll presumably also be invited to Jimmy's stuff, which would be cool. For ACC it's all about the leagues like ACR, RCI, LFM. Looking forward to the content regardless.
Very nice rig!👍
Thanks for spending my Sunday afternoon with sim racing stuff 🤣
As a computer and car nerd and worked 20 years professionally in the computer business can’t get a better guy than der8auer to build a computer :)
Misha x der8auer, not the collab we wanted but the collab we needed. I've recently bought a similar specced PC (only a 3080 instead of a 3090) with a HP Reverb G2. It doesn't need a base station and works perfectly for sim racing.
Very cool setup indeed!! Specially the pedal set made me giggle like crazy and drool all over the place 🤤, its awesome!!.
One question I have is, why no manual shifter on your setup?? Specially having a complete pedal set and hydraulic handbrake it would make sense to have it.
For me at least it is a must, as I pretty much prefer the engagement of a classic gearbox when driving, specially for fun and joy.... But hey, I'm a bit old school, stubborn..... and old 😂
On the other hand I hope you make the VR headset work soon. Its really amazing how it ads to the perception and immersion.
Wish you lots of fun and enjoyment 👍
Loss of connection is due eletrical noise. Try:
- connecting a wire from the rig structure to the Ground of you outlet where the sim is plugged
- use a (google’s) cable with heavier shielding. If this is not possible, try buying an usb extension of a higher grade shielding and take that from the pc to inside the sim, them use the shortest cable possible to connect the goggles to it
- if not possible, get shielding mesh, (from a thicker cable, I don’t know if you can buy this separatelly), sleeve it around the googleks cable, and connect the end on the computaer side to the corsair case
Hope it helps
Base stations require IR emitters from the goggles to be visible to all the basestations without any interference. And interference may come from reflections - do you have any shiny metal, window surfaces or mirrors? You could put a bright light near the position your head would be in the rig and then put your head at the location of each base station. Look around, can you see the reflection of that light anywhere?
Another thing to consider is additional IR emitters. If your screen on the steering wheel leaks too much IR, it could mess the system, too.
And if you have to use long USB cables, the cable quality is important if it goes near any power cables. Other than that, electrical interference shouldn't be a problem.
I would love to see DiRT Rally 2.0, Richard Burns Rally or BeamNG content in addition to ACC which is obviously closest to stuff you're doing with real cars.
Oh how cool i know your helping develop the new Assetto corsa because no one man has as many nurbergring laps as you i should of known you had a sim rig id love to run laps with you my rig is just about as crazy as yours i use moza and next level racing though and mostly asus components and a 3080 it was expensive i had to buy a pre-owned pre built to get the 3080 but sr least able to get my hands on one
Nice! Have fun! Are you using Content Manager (custom launcher with many useful options) and Custom Shaders Patch (updated, advanced graphics and effects) for Assetto Corsa? If not - you should try it.
Sadly we won't get Nordschleife in Assetto Corsa Competizione - official series of SRO Group are not racing there... unless something unexpected will happen. But there are new cars and tracks coming in 2022: Circuit of The Americas, Porsche 911 GT3 Cup gen 992, Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo, Lamborghini Huracan ST Evo2, BMW M2 CS Racing and more.
@@mgcharoudin You might want to check out the NSX on Racedepartment. I used the CSP physics features to produce a more compelling physical model for the car, and it goes well with the Nordschleife.
Hi Misha HTC's headset relies on IR (infra red) tracking. Turn off all the lights in your room and start your SIM rig. Use your smartphone camera and look through your smartphone display for something brightly lit up in your setup. You can use the same trick to find out if your remote controller still got some juice left in it.
Solution 2: ground your system (kijk of je setup geaard is aan een geaarde wandcontactdoos)
Solution 3: return your headset and get yourself a HP Reverb (2) (with inside-out tracking) it is excellent for cockpit setups. It won't require external devices for tracking and is easy to use. Plus the added bonus is the higher resolution displays.
It looks like heaven!!!!!
LED lights can interfere with tracking, maybe light from the wheel or dash display? See if you can adjust the polling rate of the tracking. Just a thought.
I dig the content, I was looking at Trident computers for an all in one gaming and entertainment computer for the family room. I wonder how they compare spec to spec now. Your gaming/editing/sim rig(s) are beautiful nonetheless. 🤘🔥😎🔥🤘
Appears to be an interesting simulator Misha, and it would be great to see it in action on the Nordschleife and/or the F1 track to compare is capabilities -v- Tino’s Custom Pro Hypersimulator with it's latest mods to remove bezels on three curved monitors and attach 2 x 130*deg clear plastic inserts that remove the black line at the Screen edge
if you’re doing sim racing only in VR set one of the base stations right above your sim and do the room setup while in the rig. when it gets to the point where it says to do the room layout they’ll be and option very small under the writing in blue saying limited space .. and it’ll set it up for sitting
Misha your pedals are as much as my entire sim rig setup excluding the pc LOL. I have a Next Level Racing GT Track frame, floor standing mount for my samsung 49in ultrawide, thrustmaster t300 with sparco wheel and the thrustmaster t-lcm pedals. Next step I plan to build a button box and then hopefully upgrade to a DD wheel.
Cool video 👍🏻
That setup is really sick! I'd suggest to add a H pattern shifter.
Wao! hahaha, amazing hardware. i think we are all impressed
I love how you’ve specced this out, you’ve spent money in all the right places for your specific goals. It’s easy to go down a rabbit hole on the wrong things.
