I'm pleased the journo ended with the pithy response to Rishie 2 Fines Inaction Man Sunak's claim "I was talking to the whole coastal blah blah" with the by addressing a garden party in Tunbridge Wells line. This was gaslighting but very low grade gaslighting from the career criminal, he was only addressing those people and he was not talking about deprived coastal towns which he has also diverted funding away from, he was not expecting to be recorded. In fact it's quite simple, if you live in any working class area in the UK you have had funding diverted from you to a wealthy area every year since 2010, more if it's also a Labour, SNP or Plaid voting area. What Inaction Man said to the arseholes in Tunbridge Wells is the only honesty he's ever shown, and I'm not just talking about his political career because Rishie is a career criminal that defrauded UK banks out of £400 million which Cameron interfered with and collapsed the SFO's investigation of as Rishie's 2 UK based accomplices were going to trial leading to it all collapsing, the next stage would have been to extradite 2 Fines.

    • @robe1811
      @robe1811 Před 8 měsíci +7

@@MartinParnhamtrue but it’s still fair comment. The thing to take from that comment is what it infers, which should be pretty staggering- the south is often talked about as fêted by government and yet the south east is home to one of the most deprived areas in the entire country. The UN rapporteur was appalled at the deprivation in Jaywick in the heart of one of the most affluent parts of the country when he visited to report on inequality in the U.K. Taking from Jaywick to give to Tunbridge Wells next door. If the Tories can’t even look after their own then who are they capable of looking after?
What I found most telling in that part is that Sunak had the opportunity to show some level of being informed by naming these places didn’t give the name of any deprived areas in the south. He’s probably aware of Jaywick and others but can’t remember the name because it’s just not relevant to him. He’s just awful

@@DrMontagueThere is an obvious solution if only someone would implement it. The claim is that we are the sixth or seventh richest country so there really is no shortage of money. The problem is with the way it's distributed. What I would do is raise the income tax threshold to £25k or more, so that the poorest don't pay it. I would also raise the higher threshold so that a lot of people in the middle come out of the higher band. I would increase the basic tax rate to 22% and the higher rate to 45%. I would bring capital gains tax and dividend tax in line with income tax so that all forms of income are taxed the same. I would aim to abolish VAT but accept that it can't be done in one step. I'd close loopholes and tax avoidance schemes. Everyone's tax return would consist of a single page and one simple calculation. How much did you earn from all sources? The first £25k is yours, tax free. The next £25k is taxed at 25% and so on. You don't need an accountant to work it out, just a calculator. Would you vote for me?

This is one of several reasons why I don’t think defunding the BBC is an argument worth having, when local radio like these stations do such a good job of sticking up for their areas.

Yeah. It doesn’t want to be impartial anymore, it doesn’t want local stations to say anything bad about the Tories. And then you remember the Director-General is Tim Davie, who set out new guidelines for BBC staff on expressing critical views. He has overseen some major cuts to local radio this summer. And then you remember he’s a Conservative Party member. He should not be in that position to control media. He might as well be the BBC’s Murdoch.
It’s same as Boris Johnson not turning up to the Channel 4 climate change debate, Channel 4 pointing that out with an ice block and then he throws a hissy fit and tries to get it shut down along with Nadine Dorries.
They do not want truly free press and free speech in national media. The defunding of local radio is an example of that. The Tories are working their fingers into what used to be a genuinely impartial organisation, and making it as partial to them as they can.
The BBC needs serious reform that has nothing to do with party influence. Only then might it be impartial again.

Took a jet but can't get a railway built at a reasonable cost. They should have started North first...Why start in the most developed area that A doesn't need mass transit and B is the most costly area to develop because everything is built on top of each other. The smart idea would have been to build High Speed rail in the North and then upgrade the current rail lines into London instead of building a brand new high-speed rail line in London!

    • @hexrag5901

You can't upgrade the existing lines to HS lines without ripping the network up, HS in not just about laying lines on existing track bed which is only built to accommodate 125MPH maximum speed. The disruption caused by effectively shutting down the busiest rail routes in Europe for a decade or two would collapse the entire economy. It also wouldn't work because lines in and out of London are already at capacity usage, there is no more space to add new trains, plus the HS trains would never run at speed with 125MPH and sub 125MPH trains sharing the newly more crowded routes. The original Labour plan was to run HS2 all the way up into Cumbria and Northumbria, not just Manchester, but the first thing Bozo "levelled up" were all the northern routes except Manchester, Sunak's just now "levelling up" London and Manchester in the same spirit after the Tories made their usual pigs ear (don't get excited Dave it's only an ear) of infrastructure, fucked up Crossrail (still not finished), the new nuclear plant should have been operational years ago. When you realise they fuck up deliberately to send ever more taxpayer money to their donors you'll understand how under Labour built far more and it all came in on time and on budget, never does under Tories, always more expensive and late so you also lose the revenues on top.

HS2 was chosen after extensive feasibility studies carried out by the Labour government. The thing is though HS2 wasn't originally to be built in isolation and not to only go to Manchester. The original plan was to build new standard regional capacity to improve commuter links up north and make HS2 available and feasible to a much larger market. The upgrades to existing routes were "levelled up" by Cameron and the new capacity and HS2 routes into Cumbria and Northumbria were "levelled up" by Bozo. That's why HS2 in it's current form is a white elephant and will lose money day to day when it does run 10 years late, and all due to Tory corruption and deliberate mismanagement designed to funnel taxpayer money to their donors. The Tories don't care if it opens or not, only that it's a massive opportunity to steal.

Also, his scheme furlough scheme was roughly equivalent to most other European nations. He did what was needed and expected - not anything special. Any chancellor in the same position would have been forced to do the same and Labour & Lib Dems would have offered a more generous scheme.
'£300 for their energy bills' - years of tory mismanagement have led to people in the UK paying literally THE HIGHEST ENERGY COST IN THE WORLD. If the tories hadn't shattered our economy and social structure it wouldn't have been needed.
'Cost of living payments - no other country did this' - That's just plain wrong. Please don't be so arrogant as to suggest other people don't know what they're talking about when you have no clue yourself. It took my less than a minute to find France - more than the UK. Australia - more than the UK. Spain - similar amount. USA - more than the UK. I stopped searching after showing you are simply incorrect or deliberately lying about this FOUR times, but it seems likely most European or first world countries did the same.
'Bet you're not even British' - that's the kind of statement that demonstrates you're very likely a tory, a Reform UK idiot or just basically racist and is worse considering you've spoken absolute bullshit about what went on in your own country.
And we haven't mentioned the BILLIONS that Sunak allowed to be given out to tory donors, friends of tory MPs, families of tory MPs . . . basically anyone who knew a tory quickly set up a fake 'Medical PPE' company ( including one business whose registered address was a functioning pub whose landlord just happened to be friendly with a tory MP ) which resulted in millionsof items of useless PPE, which Sunak's government is still paying millions to be stored - on land owned by a tory, being paid richly for the privilege.
Basically, as with 95% of right wing commentors, you're wrong, making shit up and talking nonsense.
Sit down, shut the fuck up and maybe research 'Stockholm Syndrome' while we wait for Sunak to call the General Election in which it is now a foregone conclusion that the tories will pay for the last 13 years and the pandemic lies, mismanagement and partygate by being utterly decimated at the polls, to the point where they will be out of power for at least generation and likely never ever take office in anything like the same form again.
