I hate the negative comments about Judy - She was the greatest entertainer we ever had - she simply was the best- she gave us her all for her 47 years that we had with her - she simply wore out- God Bless you Judy -

It has been written that Judy was the "queen of rubato" - the ability to draw her breath across her vocal cords like a bow across the strings of a cello. In this video, a few months before her passing, Judy demonstrates how this skill remained. Perfectly in tune, she breathes music, caressing the notes and infusing each beat of music with meaning. Peerless, Judy's unique ability to move excite and touch our hearts is one of the wonders of our age.

Judy was an amazing & a real Entertainer. Who else could keep people's attention when there voice isn't at its best? Judy knew how to entertain, if her voice gave out she still rocked the house. People post comments about her being "loaded", how does anyone know if she was? They rehash old myths & attack a dead woman. Her talent was Great & yet when we hear her name, it's linked w/scandal instead of excellence. Why soil Judy Garland's reputation? All she ever wanted was to sing for all of us

Sick and frail??? I know you're defending her but... she looks absolutely adorable and gloriously beautiful to me -- how could she not -- she's the great Judy Garland, for pip's sake.... And I'm amazed that her voice still has the power and dexterity that it has -- I can listen to this over and over and neither tire of it nor find fault with ANYTHING about it..... I've said it before -- on her worst day, she still wipes the floor with the best of them on their best days....

Judy wasn't just a great singer. She was a goddess, miles over human judgment. Singing this classic by Jobim and Moraes Judy has set a new standard in music. I am lucky to have been on the same planet at the same time she has been. And not only she awarded us with song masterpeices but gave us Liza.

This was taped less than a year before she passed away and, although her voice is not as pliable as it once was, particularly on the low notes, it still exists beautifully. Her talent and technique carry her through and she makes the song more effective than it might have been if it were sung by a fresh young voice. She 'lives' it.

This is wonderful, thanks. Few know, that it was Judy Garland who broke down that phony '4th wall' between the performer and the audience which produces that intimacy we never forget in a concert and is even now rarely achieved. Actually, it was Lady Day (Billie H.) who started the trend in the smaller clubs, but it was Judy, using her husband, Sid Luft's idea, who actually sat -- feet dangling -- on the edge of the stage at Carnegie Hall and began to chat with the folks between songs...

There are still abundantly obvious traces of beauty in her voice -- which is in remarkably good shape here compared to some other talk show appearances of the time. Thanks for your thoughtful feedback...Roger Edens said of Judy that she was "all diaphragm", meaning that her breathing technique was solid as any trained singer. Though Judy wasn't a classical singer, her breathing method ensured that she could sing with tone and purity at both the bottom and top of her range with either softness or her trademark "belt". She supported her loudness with a ver well toned diaphragm, and did so to the end of her career and on the 2nd verse here.

There are moments toward the end of her life where you could hear the wear in her voice, but there were a lot of times when it was in much better shape than her 1967 Palace tour (such as this moment). How unmoved and cold

When she told me so sincerely
    Why she must have asked
Did I just turn and stare in icy silence
    What was I to say?
    What can you say
When a love affair is over?
    Now she's gone away
    And I'm alone
With a memory of his last look
    Vague and drawn and sad
    I see it still
All the heartbreak in his last look
    How she must have asked,
Did I just turn and stare in icy silence
    What was I to say?
    What can you say
When a love affair is over...
    Beautiful interpretation.

If she is on pills here she still sounds better than 99% of today's singers. It is a shame she looked so old for 46 here but blame MGM.
    She still sounds great here.

She was so Amazing, with all she put up, dealt with, bad publicity and her MGM childhood demons....always there.....just so loved by me and millions.....she was such a dear person and so gifted by the Lord above..he has her at home where she is in perfect health and young..and content..she heads the"Angel CHOIRS" every day for the "chosen" to enjoy...no food needed there, this is there nutrition, love and singing , the honey flows, and my Grandmother walks erect & normal, without PAIN.
