- My first TAS video and Wii video on this channel! If this does well I will consider making more.
You probably notice some pauses throughout the video (especially that last dice roll), and that is due to how Wii Party handles RNG. I won't go into too much detail here, but the only easy way to manipulate RNG events is by waiting. Even then, Wii Party only re-rolls new RNG values for dice roughly every 50 frames, and other events (such as minigame selection) roughly every 15 frames. It doesn't seem like I can manipulate the RNG through inputs. The only thing I can do is start the game on a different frame each time to hope I get better RNG throughout.

I remember suggesting under an old speedrun WR that you could get to the stone statue on the first turn by getting 2nd and having a UFO swap. I'm so glad to see it here!

Even TCNick3 couldn't beat Board Game Island in 3 turns with his luck, that's how you know it takes a ton of "skill" to do this without any TAS tools

Could the NPCs not passing the vine obstacle in Round 2 have saved any time or would waiting for the RNG actually have made enough of a difference for the outcome to be worse than what it is in the video?
In a perfect run, it would save time if the NPCs stayed behind the vine. However, during this run it was faster to let them go so I could get a quick minigame and a good roll. In the future, I hope to cut down this time.
@@c4t_j it could also help cut time, in a perfect run idk the rng, on the second to last roll, getting two less would put you on a 6 boost, allowing for no need for doubles on the last roll, idk if that is slightly faster or not than the doubles clap and roll time but thought id give my two cents

So, the old record of 9 minutes and 36 seconds is broken.
You should try optimizing it to see just how fast a game could possibly go, probably by hitting dice right as they appear, more UFO swaps to get more progress on one turn, etc.
I think that using more UFOs (e.g. purposefully landing on an UFO space, but the player you swapped with lands on ANOTHER UFO space, and warps you back up and gives you free moves (or swaps with another player who lands on a third UFO space, repeating the process)
Thats a good theory. I think you can make CPU1 win first minigame and swap with CPU2, which does insane rolls like the tas, and land on the second UFO in turn 2, swaping with the player
Tas was in second UFO in the second turn, with 20 tiles away from finish. If a CPU lands on this tile at the second turn, and then swaps with tas, you can beat the game in 2 turns, maybe faster
You can manipulate cpu rolls by waiting in your turn, but maybe thats a little too much

Towards the end, you were only getting 5s and needing to wait longer before rolling. Is that because wii party rigs the odds to make games more close?
And next can you make a TAS where one player is insanely good but gets comically bad luck every roll

Wouldn’t the CPUs taking all the UFO spaces to get P1 to the top be a viable TAS strategy?

Also, it's not a computer. It's a person. It's a person playing a game, but instead of the game having 30 frames per second, you press a button to advance 1 frame.

what are the odds of this happening in a normal run?
I have so many questions lmao is the tool able to dictate what the player rolls? Why does it wait ages to roll sometimes but rolls instantly in others? Why did you deliberately get 2nd place in the first minigame?
This tool only create and reads input. The rolls are determined before you roll it, but changes every 50 frames, so sometimes it waits a lot because none of those rolls would work.
P1 gets second in first minigame so that CPU1 rolls first, swap with P1 and than he rolls, like stealing their turn

Maybe the RNG wasn't good and you would have to wait a lot for a 5 and 6, but maybe this is the way

the game randomly generates ‘luck’ based on inputs
so we don’t see it but it is being manipulated in every turn
