@@dashawnglenn8819 My first year was quite a struggle as I found it hard to keep up with the demands of studying but the 3 years following I really enjoyed myself. It got to a point in my second year when I really thought 'this career is for me'. And then from there on I really enjoyed it. Most universities give their students work experience; especially the Construction Management courses, which require a lot of work experience. There’s only an Associates in my area for Construction Management. I have real world experience (and am a welder) though. I’m your professional outlook, does the industry respect experience, an Associates or a Bachelors significantly differently? Would an Associates be a good thing to have, or would it be non-competitive next to those with a Bachelors and I should just continue to get experience instead?

@Emer I haven’t even looked into the master’s programs. Starting wage out the gate with a bachelors is 70k around here. 10 years into your career you can look to become an executive construction manager and they can make $250k.
The real question is are you prepared to work the hours required to climb in this sector

chrislovesannick my dad did not go to college and he started by working for a decent sized construction company for many years until he got an opportunity to sell furniture. In 2008 the economy wasn’t good enough to sell furniture anymore so he went back to working for the small company but he wasn’t making enough money just working for them. So he used his many years experience and started his own company. He’s had up to 5 workers for his company at a time but right now he has 1, and he still works for the other company on the side. So whenever his business got slow he’d have another job from the other company. I’m not sure if that really answers your question because from what it sounds like you’d prefer to be in charge rather than having to work the jobs yourself. But anyways it’s possible to start your own company without a degree but I’d definitely recommend finishing out college, it will give you many more opportunities and it will be less of a risk to start a company if you have your degree. Hope this helped, sorry it was so long. :)

@@camupton6048 After having earned my Bachelor's and Masters in business, I'm here to tell you, DON'T get a degree to become an entrepreneur! I guess if you want to start a nuclear physics lab, you might need some education. But if you want to start a construction business, a couple online classes will do the trick. A college degree for starting a construction business is just a waste of time.
