- Cloned coasters are some of the most controversial out there. Some people love them, some people hate them and some are indifferent. However, this video isn't about that. This video is more of an analysis of their evolution over time and how we are about to enter a new chapter in the cloned coaster history.

Actually Condor at Walibi Holland was the first SLC (1994), Gardaland's opened in 1998.
I agree with basically everything here. Also really like your delivery
1:29 - it is quite funny that despite the fact that the boomerangs are clone coasters, i recognized the boomerang in the clip as Sidewinder at Hersheypark - which is my personal favorite boomerng of the few that i've ridden
5:02 - Hersheypark's wild mouse
okay yeah i'm just good with hersheypark
6:07 - laff trakk
someone stop me.
Hersheypark is great, I also recognized it as sidewinder on account of it being the only boomerang I remember seeing in person😂
you forgot to mention the gerstlauer euro fighter clones, they built 8 320 models
Whoops. I shoulda mentioned that
For some reason I read that as 8320 models and got confused.
@@jackson.chetta me too lol
@jackson.chetta I was like, "Are there even 8,000 places with a roller-coaster?"
I could see the Raptor clines being really innovative in the future
@Zacheroni lol
clines
For a second I thought you meant the B&M inverts Raptor and Monster.
Nice spelling
@Fionn Kilfeather how about a raptor standing coaster but your head is facing the ground
your editing has gotten so much better. great job.
Everytime there is a coastoons video I stop whatever I’m doing to watch it
As you should
Yeah, I stopped giving CPR to a dying man to watch this
I jumped out of my car and went to the nearest Verizon tower to watch this
@@MeltedToast84 Geez ummm help the man ten watch it 20 times eating chips
What if your in the middle of life or death heart surgery
we have a vecoma boomerang in our home parc, it´s over 20 years old and still is very comfortable for an older ride. It only shakes you a bit in the middle of the cobra roll. So, they don´t have to be bad
we have 1 slc and 1 boomerang in walibi BE, the SLC is pretty okay, the boomerang actually hurt my back once
I just rode the bommerang at my local parc today of all days and I still think it's a worthy ride for it's age.
0:25 that transition from Pyrenees to Raptor is _clean_
That's not Pyrénées that's Monster at Walygator in France a clone of Raptor 🙂
@@hugo94608never knew raptor had a clone
Coastoons: Arrow started the trend of cloning coasters.
Pinfari Cyclones: Hold my Cappuchino!
Definitely makes a lot of sense. Twin clones are the future!
The fist SLC went to Walibi Holland and not to gardaland
In facts it seemed strange to me... Gardaland is my home park and I've never heard that Blue Tornado was the first SLC...
And the first clone went to Opryland USA
Ngl, coastoons is gonna have okaycoasters level editing soon at this rate
Idk man that's a pretty high bar
Your point regarding clone coasters and small parks really rings true. If cloning a coaster means more people get to enjoy something that would otherwise require a passport and a week off from work to enjoy, then I think that's a win for everyone.
This is probably one of my favorite videos of yours to date. Obviously Clones are good for the industry, especially giving smaller parks a ride they wouldn't be able to afford otherwise. It's annoying when something like a boomerang is cloned so many times you stop riding them when you visit new parks. On the other hand twin clones don't really bother me. Even rides like Scream! are fine even though they might be a better fit at other parks. Honestly if a park I can visit got a clone of something like iSpeed, Blue Fire, or Taron I really don't see how you can complain. I for one, would be hyped!
Wish that the Taron clone was a bit closer than China, but at least Germany isn't actually that far from me (England); and to be fair, nothing can replicate that Phantasialand theming.
@@Strutsss As a US enthusiast I'd just like a clone of one of the above rides on the same continent.
Clones make total sense from a business standpoint obviously. The vast majority of people will probably only ride 1 or 2 boomerangs in their life, let alone know that they are clones lol
Nice video ! Before making the boomerang, Vekoma did their own corkscrew clones btw, their very first coaster ever made (Tornado at Walibi Belgium, 1979 - 2002) being one of them ;).
This was a very interesting video topic! Its really cool to see how much they have changed!
Went on Wicked Twister about a week ago. Launch is great and the spikes are great. Only issue is going up the spikes can hurt your 🏀🏀 depending on how you sit. Overall super underrated ride
V2/Wicked Twister are great rides! Glad you mentioned them. The vertical spikes are great in front/back seat but I also the launches and station flybys.
The Vekoma SFC-400 is a really interesting clone since it was first built at Gröna Lund in such a small space (yes, i know that twister came after kvasten) that i think that it was especially designed for the park and later it got cloned. Just like supeman ult flight
tribe, such a good song, noticed it right away lol
"If I ever go to CP, wicked twister will be the first ride I run to"
yes until september 6th, but after that, **Cries in RIP**
i had the opertonity to ride it this summer but didn't becuse it looked meh and we were returning in october
@@jimskywaker4345 I love this ride it looks boring but it’s honestly really fun
Yeah we were at CP a couple days ago and I would have liked to have experienced it.
@@FleshGolem420 yeah, well at least there are still similar ones at a few parks in the US
@@unwoundsteak17 Another benefit of clones.
Yay new video!
Hi great vid ur channel in getting huge almost 5k that’s crazy I’ve been here since like 500 subs I’ve watched all ur videos ur one of my favorite coaster channels
yeah I remember you from very early on. Thanks for sticking around
The intamin impulse is GREAT. The one in discovery kingdom with the diagonal twist is exceptional.
Another great vid
6:21 (the pulsar) is one of my favorite coasters of all time
Dude you are the D’angelo Wallace of coasters 💀😂 love the vids! I’m near CP HMU 🤙
Ayy nice job
I can confirm, boomerang coasters completely destroyed my day, took the Carolina Cobra at Carowinds, and after getting off that coaster the rest of my day was ruined with headaches.
i love your outro
If I were to start my own company (which I am heavily thinking about), the first coaster I design will most likely be a clone. However, it will be a GOOD clone! I am thinking about a compact inverting Wild Mouse with a set of inner rails like what X2 has. The seats will be able to move independently of the train, allowing for sharper airtime and extreme hangtime.
the idea of cloning coasters that are only avialable at far away parks to local ones (especially the US) its a good idea. imagine the ammount of people a dodonpa or smiler clone would bring into a park
I was really expecting to see oblivion and Rita on here but they only have twin clones
intamin's take on a sky rocket II looks really good with the inverted launch
It looks like a maintenance nightmare but if they can get it up and running it could be pretty cool
You should have mentioned Raptor at Cedar Point for having a twin clone, Monster at Walygator Parc France. You also forget to mention how premier rides were always all about clones, such as the catapult launch Coaster, aka Jokers Jynx and Poltergeist, and the backlot stunt coaster. You did mention the Mr. Freeze as twin clones, but if it was not for their valleying issues, i feel they might have sold more.
I don't have an issue with clones when they're good. The thing I always ask myself is if the park ever rode this model? For example how can there possibly be that many SLCs out there? I mean did you not ride the first one? Then ride Batman? Like how on earth did you think it was a good idea to buy one?
I only rode the boomerang at prater and it was actually super enjoyable, having only lapbars :D
Going through a vertical loop backwards is actually uncomfortable. I’m glad someone said it
I thought the first SLC went to Walibi Holland as Condor? Still operating today with brand new trains this year :P
3:33 Not to mention two of those clones being in one city, San Antonio
*me when the second biggest coaster in your country is a basic vekoma boomerang*
You know, honestly, I enjoy Vecoma boomerangs. Sure the seats a little cramped and there are over the shoulder restraints (I’m tall though to I don’t get headbaging), but honestly the anticipation for the drop is great, and the inversions are fun and smooth (at least on boomerang at sfft)
In my opinion speed of sound is the best boomerang with the onboard audio, the tunnel and it has the newer vest restrainst
The slc at gardaland was actually very fun, I don't know if I went on a good day but it was decent, raptor was better tho
Is HersheyPark your home park? Saw a lot of uncredited footage of that park.😉 Their Boomerang is the only one I’ve ever been on too.
No I just dont usually credit park official footage. I put it in the description tho
The first slc was actually the prototype at walibi holland,
Nice video though!
You always manage to have amazing video ideas like this!
If you want to ride a fast batman clone, do Goliath at SFFT in the summer or Le Vampire at La Ronde
Make your first Intamin Impulse coaster Steel Venom at Valleyfair. Its the only one that still has the holding brake on the back vertical spike. Its the best part of the ride!!
And riddler revenge at NE is good with the vest restraint
Tho I feel like it isn't Vekoma's or Arrow's fault if they made a bad clone and mass-produced it, since the parks asked them to. So why do we blame the manufacturers when we should blame the parks for buying them. Also, Speed of Sound in Walibi Holland is actually an enjoyable boomerang :)
Nice outro lol
Did you go to seaworld this month? If you did, you should make a video about your trip
Going in a couple days. I might make a park review but I feel like those are kinda low quality
@@Coastoons I don’t think that, I like the review of Universal Florida, kinda agree with that review, always prefer Islands Over Universal
Imo the best boomerang is speed of sound. And it is actually pretty fun
impulses are pretty swag. They're not incredible but its a cool feeling going up a twisted spike backwards. Most people find them alright, some find them amazing.
I hear such varied things about them. I'm dying to get on one
I really don't mind the Boomerang hahah And I don't usually like coasters, I easily get dizzy and I hate when rides are rough
I know this is a longshot for North America as of now...but I am hopeful the future brings us some clones of Vekomas new gen models...👀🤩🤷🏻♂️
LaMarcus Thompson is the originator of the cloned coaster with Switchback Railway.
Clones have been around since the beginning; every park wanted a Scenic Railway, then a Figure-8.
And after that was Cyclone
Don't forget out-and-backs
In the boomerAng section you said inversions backwards are always bad but Mr freeze clones are normally considered good
Walibi Holland has the best Boomerang ( I am not sure if you were on it, because you said you were on the best one)
And Walibi Holland also has the first SLC (Condor) not Gardaland :)
Still great video as always!
4.35 the first SLC actually belongs to walibi holand to my knowledge .
Wasn't the first SLC in Walibi Holland? The Condor prototype?
Also: Mack - weak launches, decent layout. Should be their company motto.
Anyways, good video. It's always a relief to hear someone see clones for what they are. The new Vekomas are designed to be cloned as well, and you don't hear me complain. Bermuda Blitz, Shockwave and Firestorms everywhere pls.
Good coasters should be cloned! A batman in a small country like Belgium or the Netherlands would be groundbraking.
Same with Taron, it's a good thing it's cloned in China. It would be a bad thing if it was cloned in Europa Park though.
Location is everything.
I think the issue is when the clone is overdone, like the boomerang or SLC. EVERY Six Flags seemed to have one. Kind of like the Larson Loop or ome of them giant frisbee things now. And then other parks in the same region got one, or already had one, instead of getting something different. At least with sosomething like the Skyrocket II, there don't seem to be many in the same region.
what is with the back car on Mack's "Bluefire"? is that a free rotating car in a train with five cars that don't?
That's Time Traveler prototype car.
And considering Europapark is just a Mack Ride's Oversize Showroom, you get the idea what is going on
that nebraska mention hurt me man 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Remember when Six Flags was adding like 3 Larson loops a year?
Intamin impulse coasters are really fun!
That Vakoma the T2 at Kentucky kingdom?
Loving the donkey Kong music!
People can hate boomerangs and Batman clones but let’s be real these rides always have people in line even on slow days.
So without the boomerangs and Slcs there would be no eejanaika or rmc...
so in the end, all the pain is worth it?
Wow this actually got on my recommended. Like on my notifications that’s never happened to me before
6:09 6:21 Now cloning (Under Construction) in my new hone park. Oof two major rides are both CLONE.
how do people hate boomerangs and slc's so much, the slc's bulky restraints are super soft and foamy and act as a pillow that elongates collision time and decreases pain. Sure it's rough but it doesn't hurt. The boomerangs are just arrow loopers that go backwards. That's it! Maybe some might be less well maintained than others, but from the slc's and boomerangs I've ridden, they were all very enjoyable.
Great video as always but please turn down the music a bit, hard to focus on what you were saying at points especially in the intro
yeah I realized that after I uploaded
I’ve seen the Oblivion clone in Taiwan on a few videos and I get that clones are cheaper than a custom layout, but why go for one from a park with such restrictions on building? That being said, I’m surprised no park has gone for a clone of The Smiler as that’s definitely less reliant on the terrain than other coasters at Towers and having the equal most inversions in the world would surely be a great selling point.
raptor clones are so good bro
Well actually the first SLC was build in walibi Holland and the first clone of it went to gardaland
What instrumental is this ive heard this from somewhere but I cant recall what song it is
my bad at like 6:15... Wait its a mac miller song!
Figured it out lmfaooooo
I've only ridden one arrow corkscrew: Corkscrew at Canobie Lake Park. It was awful, tens times worse than a zamperla volare (I don't find them painful, I know I'm in the minority on this, but they are still rough and jerky)
I know I’m super late but the pandemonium spinning clones at like almost every six flags parks (also worlds of fun)
It’s so dumb that ppl complain about boomerangs and SLC’s being in everywhere when there is like 600 different wacky worm or wild mouse clones, and those aren’t even thrilling rides
Guess it was expectations vs disappointment that made them more memorable.
And pain
The first SLC went to walabi Holland
I'm down with twin cones for rides that are far away. I don't see myself going to Japan any time soon, so if we get a flying dinosaur clone in the US i wouldn't be Mad
Cedar Point would likely get a Flying Dinosaur clone.
oblivion has a clone above ground
Sir!!!!!!!! HOW DARE YOU BADMOUTH THE VEKOMA BOOMERANG!!!!!!!!! I, personally, enjoy having the same boring and terrible ride at every park I visit! The Vekoma Boomerang was revolutionary in its design and painful ride experience. Much thought went into making that rattling, shaky, spine-injuring shuttle coaster! I don't know about you...but when I travel across the United States to an amusement park I want the exact same ride I could've had at my home park. It's always a thrill when arriving at a new park and saying "I can't wait to get on that Boomerang!!! YaY!".
“if cp buys your thing, you know you got a winner”
*pardon*
He’s talking about Club Penguin memberships or something
Condor in holland was the first slc :)
what is the best boomerang?😭
you can't like or dislike this video... it's' too perfect, 888 8
I think the day of massive cloning of one type of coaster is ending (except for kiddie and wild mouse) but clones overall are here to stay... unfortunately 🙃
There's positives and negatives. If a ride like Tiaga got cloned in the U.S I would be over the moon cus there's no way I'm ever gonna get out to ride Tiaga. But if Maverick got cloned in Europe I would be hella pissed.
So much for riding wicked twister 😭😭😭
The first slc is in walibi holland
whats your coaster count?
ride of steel is the original superman i thought you did research before your videos
The first SLC was at Walabi Holand not Gardaland
agreed 100%
