- Chester usually gets left at the base in most don't starve together worlds
But because of this people loose out on how useful he can be.
Since ive been playing characters solo to see how they feel I have really been enjoying what chester offers in dst.

As a Maxwell main shadow Chester is sometimes useful because if I need something my friend can just have shadow Chester with him in case I need something like food even if he’s not at base to use the magicians chest

Since I play with my partner, I sometimes go Maxwell and me going with Shadow Chester is such a good synergy as she is generally a base builder, and I am the gatherer. As Maxwell with a Lazy Forager I can generally feed her supplies stupidly fast. Getting all the materials we need.
Or I just use the Magician's Hat. But sometimes I would rather use armor in the head slot.

You don't need to equip the tophat to use its storage (at least not all the time), you can open it directly in the inventory with one of the modifier keys.

I find the great health really handy. Among other things, I use Chester for spider nests disposal (I walk away so spiders aggro onto him and then I pick them one by one) as well as with hound waves (in the same way).
Also, I wasn´t aware of the spawn priority, so this video was actually enriching despite all the articles I´ve read, so thanks once again man, keep up the good work!
I'm a big fan of using chester early in a world after getting a Magiluminescence, really handy to store broken pig houses/coal and such. Also the ice variant is useful for storing moongleams for a long time, in case you feel like giving them to the portal at Moon Quay later on.
I've come to appreciate how you can use hutch to lure out the spiders in the labyrinth without them getting the first hit on you.
Sure, they don't have any special drops, but i often find that i find a place to base and don't have any spiders nearby, so getting to farm them in a place I'm sure to visit anyway is really convenient.
Just make sure he isn't carrying your loot when you go past the monkeys.

I use chester to carry basic craft materials and tools. You never know what you'll need when.

Chester does go with u into the caves in the original Don’s Starve game because that game doesn’t have Hutch

honestly i hate that we cant bring chester to caves, ice chester in single player version was for me neat to take extra food for very long explore. also storing meat inside will prevent rabits from getting aggressive. from my experience main reason why chester in dst is glorified chest is dropping eye bone on log off (and i often forget to pick up) and being unable to take him to cave. if these 2 things were changed, at least when completely alone on server, i would use him much more

I understand why they didn't do this for balance, but if Klei were honest Chester would have a passive sanity aura for most Survivors. Almost everyone loves that lil guy.
If you have a magician's chest at the base with someone there and you have shadow Chester, you can go out to get whatever you need in one trip.
I thought this video was going to be pure Chester praise & then it quickly devolved into domestic Chester abuse.

Chester is my little follow along buddy, (unless something causes a change, hound wave, it's simply too dangerous, or the beefalo I'm taming goes into heat.)
i hate how ro bin cant transform but i wish he was in don't starve together because he's adorable and wish he could function as another chestor if in multiplayer (same applies to packim baggins maybe maltraboss becomes more of a important fight because she drops a fish bone which spawns packm and maybe randomly on day 19 or something the stone egg falls from the sky and drops on the players head and they hatch it for ro bin
You think turning chester into ice chester or shadow chester makes him luner/shadow aligned
Liplipsink kinda puts your character in an uncanie valey betvin animated and stills.

I mostly play waxwell and always telling my friends to transform chester into shadow. so we can use the little fella as transporter.

I am actualy surprised why chester is so often ignored in dst there is so mutch vaule in having more space on you with kinda low risk of jim dying (but also im insane enough with getting larvae for myself when i get bundles so yeah)

Whenever I see Chester, I usually just grab him and move him to base, and then the entire server just keeps him there and doesnt use him... A shame as his ultilities can be super useful when exploring

Oh wtf i have 1000 hours in the game and i have never seen or heard about music hutch in my life and im the kind of guy that basically takes carries him everywhere i go

Yep hutch just stops giving the sanity and the band stops draining. funny enough the spear hutch takes priority over the music hutch@@Pock4855

It is only 2 frames I could add it like a gif so that there are a smoother talk. But idk just experimenting. But the mouth is in sync with the audio
