@@strife9878 the thing is "kinda fits" just does not work, it simply would not feel right, no one would be able to replace Chester and the only way it could work is if they pick someone up BUT leave Linkin Park behind and go forward as a different group, different name, maybe a different style and sound
I have seen both Queen and Alice In Chains live since they picked up new front singers. I mean absolutely 0 disrespect but they did not have that same feeling. No matter how “close” they are to sounding like Freddy or Layne. I’m sorry but LP would need to change names and continue on differently. maybe Mike could rename the band to Xeros like he originally did, since they didn’t really create anything under that name before changing it to Linkin Park.

Back in fall of 2004, I began messaging a girl in a German LP fan forum. Back then we were two 16 year old teens loving LP and spending hours and hours in front of the computer to write to each other. We used to stay up really, really late and just chat. We spent so much time together online, that my grades in school even went down the hill and in the end I had to repeat the school year :D
In May 2005 we met for the first time in person (we used to live 450 km apart) and became each others first real love.
RIght now in 2023, we are in our mid 30s, have been a couple for 18 years, married for 3.5 years, are parents of the most wonderful daughter, own a house, and I could not be happier in life. And the fact that I would never have met this girl without LP is so crazy.
This comment made my day I hope I get to be with someone for that long sadly the kind of relationship you have is a rarity these days but if there's one thing I know it's to stay strong and positive and this comment just helped me reinforce those thoughts in my head anyway I hope you guys have a wonderful life :)

The song is mediocore at its bast. Instead of reviving Chester with old stuff, Mike should get a right singer and continue Chesters legacy. Same when Chester went to Stone Temple Pilots to replace Scott. Chester fits with STP.
@Daryal from whole LP band the only members who were actually alive outside stage was Chester and Mike. The others were always in the shadow, seems like they’re never existed except live stage. Almost on every stage, seems there’s no interaction between. Just six dudes do their own thing and go home. I never was a massive fan of LP, but after certain time I realised that Mike is the only one who is responsible for the band.
@Daryal while people will be keep on talking about LP and praising them as the greatest band of all time. There’s always will be a way to make money of it. Especially recycling old materials.
Imagine a universe where in 2003, "Lost" was the last track on Meteora, and 20 years later in 2023 we were getting "Numb" in this anniversary set.
Wild to think about. As good as Lost is, we would have been thinking they should have been drug tested for choosing it over Numb.

@Daryal But that’s the whole point. If Chester were still alive they’d still be making music and touring. Mike is still making music, just on his own. Chester had such a unique voice, it’s hard to imagine someone else singing their songs. If they got someone new, they’d have to make the old songs their own, not copy the originals. You’d still have a lot of fans who couldn’t listen to the band in the same way tho

one of my biggest regrets is not seeing LP live before Chester passed. I was a broke kid so never could really go back then. But Hybrid Theory was my very first album excluding backstreet boys cds that were gifted to me when i was like 5. This music changed my life for sure. So deep, so raw, such an enthralling sound. I still rock out to these songs now 20 years later and will until I die. I hope to still see the remaining part of the band live some day. Also respect to Brad for being left brained - as a music lover, that's me as well

I’m always amazed by Mike during interviews. How can someone who is no question a part of “Rock Royalty” be so grounded and humble. He makes you feel important regardless of who you are, where you’ve come from and what you’ve accomplished.. ❤🙏🏻🤘🔥
When Mike said he was called "The Glue" it immediately took me to those days back then. 20 years. Unreal.
It's so cool that Mike acknowledges the narutu and dragonball z amvs of that time. I still have the first wave of those on my harddrive. It's like a treasure since most if not all got deleted. I got to know linkin park through those amvs. What an awesome time that was.
The lyrics in Lost hit me at a difficult point in my life where I'm constantly getting lost in bittersweet memories and ruminations. Linkin Park helped me through rough high school and college years, and they're still here helping me get through hard times. I can't explain how some of the most important people in my life are complete strangers. We may not know each other, but we're brothers in life. Thank you for the pick me up, once again, as you always have done for me. ❤ Wish I had the money to get this anniversary box set. Hopefully it'll still be around for purchase when I find my way again. I'll still enjoy whatever gets released online at least. Much love to the guys and to the LP family! 13:20 Mike talking about his experience of learning about Chester’s life fills me with so much joy. It also reminds me so much of his closing track, “What The Words Meant” on his solo record, Post Traumatic. You can tell Mike was writing about Chester’s stories and the emotions in them.

Very few people can attain the level of fame and recognition that Mike has had in his career and still remain so humble and down to earth. All the Linkin Park members are this way and i think it's a big part of why they are so well respected across the board.
Listening to Mike talk about LP again is like a warm hug. He truly doesn't get the credit and respect he deserves.
Mike is so easy to listen too. Could easily listen to him speak about his experiences from all the earlier albums and this new release for hours.

This Meteora Aniversary edition made me text my buddies from the past that I don't even talk that much these days. We discussed the idea of getting this box. Then we got in together for a nice dinner and well... we are reunited again. And it felt great. We wish Mike will continue with whatever he is doing.
Man 2003, I was entering middle school in France but prior to that, discovered Hybrid Theory on French TV and LP became my favorite band, still was when the band changed direction and still is today. LP made me go deeper in anime, gaming and music culture but also, LP and especially Chester has put words for the pain I had, caused by my environment. I'm 31 now, living in Canada, doing ok and making video games for top companies, which was my dream. Thank you LP for the impact you had in my life. ❤
Meteora was in honestly my favorite album. I loved Hybrid Theory but Meteora was a more mature sound. This Meteora 20th Anniversary release is going to be a box full of legends. I can't wait. By the way, I love the single "Lost" from it.

Meteora was a perfect follow-up to Hybrid theory. Definitely one of the best follow-up albums ever.

Of all of the musicians who have passed away, Chester's still hits me the hardest. I was about 13 when Kurt Cobain died, but even then I think I saw that his flame was only going to burn for a short time. But with Chester, I felt like he still had *so much more* that he had to say.
I am grateful they have some music Chester recorded that still good enough of quality (in terms of how good the music is and the recording itself) to release.

The moment Mike says that Chester was great at touring.... I cried so much. I miss Chester terribly, I cant imagine how hard has been for his bandmates. The new song slaps so hard, it's amazing.

Meteora was a staple in my HS days, I still listen to LP. From the release of the first album to today, I'll never stop supporting yall.

I remember watching the premier of the Somewhere I Belong music video on TV with my family very fondly. It was amazing.
Without going into great detail, my dad was very sick when Meteora was released. We would listen to a blend of Meteora and Hybrid Theory each day to and from the hospital. My mom, sister, and I knew every one of the songs and their lyrics. My dad has since passed away. Linkin Park holds such a special place in my family’s heart. Thank you guys.

I want Mike to jump back into hip-hop like it’s 2005-06 ish and continue making music with Styles Of Beyond, Lupe Fiasco, Scoop Deville, Demigodz. Those were the good days.
I like the interviewer in this. She’s asking some normal questions and some dope questions but as he’s answering she chooses the best moments to be like “and that must have been intense” and mike responds to that but stays on topic. A great interview from both of them and it kind of seems like she actually digs Linkin park and wants to hear but has to love it along. Also I want to throw props to mikes outfit being a black t shirt, camo cargo pants, and some Nike shoes. Dad outfit to this day. If he had the red streak I would swear to you I watched this at 9 years old the last time my dad had me for a weekend. MTV was always on then and this set and interview just takes me back there.
I'm paraphrasing but when Nicole asks if he feels like a Rockstar now (as opposed to 2003) - 'I don't give a shit about any of that' sums the guy up imo. Contributed so much to the band and of course the band has a whole helped out so many growing up in and around my generation (and others too I know!!) so so so so much. Forever grateful. I was a very new soldier in the Army in Iraq when Meteora came out, and now I'm retired from the military so yeah! It feels like 20 years ago as far as that goes for damn sure, but listening to the music takes me back in so many ways. Those memories are not lost at all
Loved this interview and how open mike was about everything.
As a kid that graduated in 03 I remember a bunch of that time frame. Cell phones were around. But no iPhones didn’t exist. Very few kids actually had them. The internet consisted of AOL chat and Limewire.(Napster being killed before 03). So awesome that everything was kept and everything being put out. Thank you Nicole, KROQ and of course Linkin Park.
