My grandmother didn't carry on the tradition of speaking polish in our family but I would like to start it back up again I want myself and my girls to speak Polish and be part of the Polish community it's in our blood
It's good to know Polish and sustain your relationship with Poland when you have ancestors from Poland because, for instance, higher education in the US very expensive, whereas in Poland it's for free and is very good. Greetings from Poland.
@@plrc4593 Yes, it's free, but not really that great. The best Polish universities (and I am a proud alumnus of one of them ;-) are ranked in the third hundred of world best universities. Sure a few of Polish best Universities are better than the third tiers schools in US, but a good state school in the US is better. Especially, if you want to work in the US.
In English, we hardly use the letter Z, in Polish you have 3 different Z!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just feel like I want to learn polish because a lot of my relatives are polish.
I will say spanish is much easier haha but my boyfriend of almost a year is polish and so is his family and I want to be more involved in their conversations when they start speaking polish. These videos help out a lot! Thank you so much! Looking forward to more!

Dropped Russian to learn polish, learned a little while I was deployed in Iraq, in about a year or so my unit is going to be stationed in Poland, this video helped a lot. My fathers parents were both from Poland and my history and Slavic roots are significant in my life so this helps the journey, this lady is so attractive also which is another helpful point

My people are Americans from Dutch and Alsatian from Alsace-Lorraine, France. This part of France has been fought over for a very long time by Germany and France, but they have their own language and consider their region to be their own Country. The same way the Basque region of Spain does. They would like to be a small nation, such as San Marino, Luxembourg, Lichtenstein, Monaco, and Andorra are.
Loved the part about your name at the start. My father came to Australia many years ago, and has since changed his name. But when he came here his name was Zdzisław. You can bet the Aussies couldn't do that one. :)

Good news for everyone - in Polish (mostly) if you learn the sound of letters, you will realize it works the same in almost every single situation which is not obvious in English, because "a" sometimes sounds like bAt and sometimes like bAd or beAt. Check another letter: e - here we go mEn, mEan, grEEn, bEst. And what about those freaky words like: queue?! I was sure it sounds like "kwee wee" :D And what about words which look the same but sound different like: I polish my Polish shoes... :D Or "wind" - " the wind blows" but another sound of the same word is a bit different "wind it up" :) Am I right? In this case in Polish it's easier because you can expect the sound of the letters you already learned.

Yes, English is a bit of a swine in that regard.
I think almost every spelling/pronunciation rule has exceptions somewhere.
We forget how tricky it can be for learners, but I can still vaguely remember a few struggles from childhood learning to read and write it.

Great vid! I am surprised as to how many of the letters are similar in both English and Spanish to the Polish alphabet. I have a heavy Polish (Prussian, Russian, German) ancestry and want to learn a little of the language before I travel to Poland in search of some records associated to my grandfathers side of the family. Your vids will help me chat with a friend at work who is also from Poland. I want to be able to take advantage of trying out words and phrases on her so I thank you for your lessons : ) I look forward to learning more with you.
