When he was fighting Killmonger in the mines and destabilized the vibranium in their suits, it probably messed with the vibrainum in his system that gave him those powers, and ultimately led to his illness. But the heart-shaped herb being as powerful as it is, is the only thing that could have cured the corrupted vibrainium that was in his blood.

I have a different idea: I think it has to do with the snap, I think it had an adverse effect on T'Challa and somehow stripped him of the heart-shaped herbs powers. We know you have to drink something that strips you of the HSH powers so the HSH isn't something you need to take on the regular. I figure T'Challa still had the immune system of a superhuman so developed an autoimmune disease as a result, thus why Shuri needed the HSH. T'Challa had an overactive immune system and it was killing him.

When they did the Time Heist, the stones were technically from their own separate lines, so weren't an actual true set. Each stone from each timeline would have been out of sync with the others, so they wouldn't have worked the same way that Thanos' set did, as his were all from the same timeline.
Shuri literally says that her brother knew he was sick but didn't say anything until he was dying. It has nothing to do with the heart shaped herb, the herb just gives the user the Black Panther abilities, better health (which could have healed his illness if they had it) super strength, more stability, Inhuman strength and agility. But no, it doesn't kill the user or change any kind of DNA or give them any sort of illness if they don't eat the herb. Basically they gave T’challa cancer guys. I know it’s not fact. But he died of an unknown disease. And the one thing that could save him was a heart herb that was extinct.
I think they made a clear subtle nod to the fact that heroes may be just that. But some if not many, are just men in suits.

I don't think he died because he stopped taking the herb, but that since he was without the herb, he must have got some kind of "normal" disease that killed him.

@@sirslickrock I know that, I watched the movie too... Where in my comment does it imply that I think he didn't take the herb? I'm saying that since the rest of them was destroyed, I'm assuming that the effects of the herb probably slowly go away over time and he has to retake them, that he became "normal" after a while and some form of natural disease like cancer ended his life.

I have a different idea: I think it has to do with the snap, I think it had an adverse effect on T'Challa and somehow stripped him of the heart-shaped herbs powers.
We know you have to drink something that strips you of the HSH powers so the HSH isn't something you need to take on the regular. I figure T'Challa still had the immune system of a superhuman so developed an autoimmune disease as a result,
thus why Shuri needed the HSH. T'Challa had an overactive immune system and it was killing him.

you don't need to take the herb multiple times to keep the powers, the only reason he had to take it twice was because he took something that canceled out the herb for the first fight against killmonger.

When they did the Time Heist, the stones were technically from their own separate lines, so weren't an actual true set.
Each stone from each timeline would have been out of sync with the others, so they wouldn't have worked the same way that Thanos' set did, as his were all from the same timeline.
Shuri literally says that her brother knew he was sick but didn't say anything until he was dying.
It has nothing to do with the heart shaped herb, the herb just gives the user the Black Panther abilities, better health (which could have healed his illness if they had it) super strength, more stability, Inhuman strength and agility.
But no, it doesn't kill the user or change any kind of DNA or give them any sort of illness if they don't eat the herb.
Shuri was just mad at Kilmonger for destroying the one plant that could have helped her brother.

Let's make some money by exploiting peoples emotion by showing old scenes portraying him and all". Thus resulting in a movie with least effort put into story line. I really wanted this movie to be a nice one.

Personally, I think that when t'challa was snap away the effect of the herbe wore off since he was technically dead, but when he got blipped back there was no herbe to help him fight his desease since killmonger burned them all.
