Me and my fiance found the Ifa spirituality last year while I was pregnant. I would wake up every night at or close to 3am and I would do research which lead me to Ifa. Come to find out my fiance had been seeing a lot of Obatala but never looked into it or thought anything about it. Until I stumbled upon music and learnings of the Ifa and Yoruba spirituality. I believe I am supposed to help lead him/us on our paths. I wake up with 5 of 6 of our kids and we burn candles, sage and incense as we dance and listen to the spirits speak to us. I love it I tend to get a lot of stares as I listen to orisha songs in my vehicle( being I am white and he is African American) we think its funny seeing ppls reactions. Digging deeper in his family history his great grand mother is full Cherokee indian(as well as my great grandmother) now his great grandfather is full African. His family does not know the tribe or from what part he is from all they know is he was not enslaved. We are digging more and more into it but I honestly couldnt be more happier when i listen to Ifa and Yoruba music it calls to me. Does anyone have and advice on where to go to to learn more and get more accurate teachings. I am cautious of who we learn from being a lot of ppl in the states use the orisa and deities to perform rituals for self profit and evil. Also would love to learn the language. I am almost ashamed to be from white mans america and speak their language but I stay positive with us finding our new path... Excited to learn more for my self, husband and all our kids.
