Even though I’m certainly not new to Diablo 3, I always had a hard time to decide which gems would help some particular builds. Identifying their usefulness certainly helps! Great vid my man!
a lot of people overthink it. Dont be afraid to play around with them in builds just to see what you like. Some people like more damage, and some people like more survival. Thats what i love about D3 there are so many different builds you can try.
by the way the gem of the hoarder has now been changed that it can drop in a GR also. and the invigorating gems is used a lot in bazooka wizard builds to offset the stone gauntlets and freeze mobs to be be able to move quickly when dropping the meteor
I bought the game recently and am watching a bunch of guides for beginners and explanation videos on specific game features to better understand what I'm doing after completing the main story. I really enjoy your content so far. Most content creators about this game take for granted that people watching their guides know everything else but the information they were seeking in the guide and it makes it very difficult to understand. So far I have only one question which is incredible compared to all the other Diablo 3 video guides. ; What does zdps means exactly? I get that it is a support character but what else?
Zdps stands for 0 DPS. There are different versions for different classes. Monks usually are the healer type Whereas zdps Barb and necros offer more buffs, pulling mobs, defensive and utility type of support
I'm a regenerating DPS Tank Wizard Build that my main DPS comes from the amount of hits I can pull off and how much DPS and Health Regen I can do per second, so the Gem Simplicities Strength & Invigorating Gemstone and Bane of the Stricken and lastly Molten Wildebeests Gizzard all work with my super unique build. I'm a perpetual walking Nuke, my downsides is if I miss a hit loop I immediately die, and I'm super slow.
I don't know if it has been buffed since this video, but I find the Invigorating Gemstone 14:50 to be very effective at keeping my character alive. In T16 GR's it is the difference between constantly dying and not ever dying.

Hey Wolfcryer, first of all allow me to say I enjoy your videos, especially your spoken word is perfectly understandable even for those who haven't been born in the States. :) Furthermore - As a long time WoL monk grinder (this build suits me well - great damage dealer and at certain point fairly tough, bottom line I consider this build to be very versatile), I think I may have come up with an interesting application of vitality augments. There's a significant added value to collecting ancient gear pieces with gold bonus. Since you don't need any extra damage boost while farming T13 (WoL itself deals tons of damage, GK can die instantly on 1st hit), you're able to utilize those gold bonus ancients in T13 farm setup and buff 'em with vitality, so you don't have to worry about any unwanted deaths, that occur often in Battlefields of Eternity by trippin' over 'em mines, Moon Seed explosions in Dahlgur Oasis or those incredibly annoyin' Grotesque/Harvester/Possessed type of creature explosions. May sound like a futile effort, but in the end earning those extra millions really helps with rankin' up 'em legendary gems. I intended to sound eloquent and I hope I made my case. :) Greetings from CZ.

Also worth mentioning is that only flawless royal gems should be converted to other gems via the essence because I don't believe you can combine smaller gems into larger ones once they've been changed over. Great video!
@Wolfcryer Just an update. Thanks to your video help I've now equipped my Necromancer (using Inarius build) with: Bane Of The Trapped, Bane Of The Powerful, Enforcer (for my Command Skeletons). Finally starting to hit T13. Finally!! lol. Cheers for a great video :)
Once you unlock Boon of the Hoarder, you can get a Boon of the Hoarder to drop from the rift guardian. Either move the gem to another character (or mule--a character that only exists to hold equipment... And overflow for the stash), or... Drop the Boon on the ground in town. The gem will persists as long as the server stays up, and your game does not crash. It is far safer to move the gem to an alternate character. Today, I tested the Boon of the Hoarder drop from the rift guardian. I was playing hardcore in the Asia region. I had not yet been to the Realm of Greed with this character. (Solo play for 99.99% of the time, scarcity of players willing to play with an English speaker--aka language barrier) I had all the other legendary gems, but not the Boon. I completed a GR, but no Legendary gem drop. Since then, I did finally manage a trip to the Inner Sanctum, and earned a Boon if the Hoarder.
Every time I watch your videos, I keep learning something new. Thank you so much. btw, I am running a strafe LoD DH, I know it deals low damage but it is the only Build I have fun with, any advice as to which gem would work great for it?
I love that you didn’t read the descriptions. I hate when ever I click on a video had the first half is them saying the name of a piece of gear and reading it’s description then naming another piece of gear.
Um moratorium is useful for tanking higher Gr solo. Especially for meek characters like necro, demon Hunter. At 800+ Paragon with full augments ancient multishot UE build, I had to drop my stricken for it and can't do a 105 without it. That 20% with awareness on your hellfire amulet makes it hard to kill you at a distance
Not very good before I discovered and used your great videos for season 18. Like that they are geared for anyone. Necro is my favorite. I went from advanced beginner last season, to intermediate or perhaps a bit better for the start of season 19. Was able to do Torment XVI easily at end of season 18. Thank you.

I got the bane of the trapped on the second try and thought it was absolutely useless, I guess it's because I misunderstood what the effects of it were (I thought it meant the damage is increased against enemies you were controlling which really doesn't make sense) and as a necromancer, I can definitely see the potential now. I am glad I watched this. I will probably try implementing my LoD for even more damage when I grab some better legendary equipment.
you can get multiples by putting them on another character and running a GR on a different character. Much safer method than throwing them on the ground and possibly losing it to a random disconnect.

If the gem has a level cap it will show the current level/max level. Like when you start leveling Boon of the hoarder if you level it to 10 it will show 10/50.
Trying mirinae on my jade witch doctor. The idea is every tick of my dots are treated as separate attacks and can prock mirinae. Not geared enough to go anywhere high, but getting there

Useful content, makes me think how can I upgrade my necro build. I was really bored by D3, but now I've decided fck it, let's have fun. I may not be on top of the ranks, but I used to like this game a lot. So instead following builds from all over the internet I'm tinkering with legendary gems and Ring of Royal Grandeur, so that my movement and attacks fit more my gaming style - I like to play solo, on Steam Controller. It's super convienient (but not for dh, NOOOPE). :D Thanks!
malataur Gogok of Swiftness goes to 150. Mutilation Guard and Esoteric Alteration only go to 100, so I wouldn’t advise using those two as augment gems.

The mirinae I have it at max lvl and i use it as part of my lvling farm. Its great for beginning off for starters but later as you reach end game it become useless.
Holy potatoes, sir you spared so much stress u can´t even imagine. I usually play diablo only in every beginning of the seasons for about 2-4 weeks and then wait for the next season to come, therefore whenever i start again i look for new builds and i see all the time "use gem x" and i rly want to understand why and what. Right now im gearing up a lazy inarius (for the 2nd time alrdy this is the most fun build that i ever tried until now) and i read that i shall use mirinae but honestly i did not want it and i rly wanted to know why everyone faps so much to mirinae i just don´t see it. Anyways i now use this poison and bleed gem, i guess bane of the trapped does not need an explanation. Thank you so much for explaining i really really needed this you helped me so much.
With the enforcer gem with necromancer does the pet damage count with their undead creatures and skeletons army and such? Never mind I I watched the part thank you
Why can’t I pick up a legendary gem. Says I have no where to put it. It just sits there. Tells me I can’t pick up anymore. But I’ve emptied my bag. Help please.
I am rifting right now with Tals explosive blast. My highest with my Molten gem lvl 35 molten is and bane of the trapped lvl 26 is greater rift lvl 55. Or t12. I am one shooting everything but if my explosion 💥 die and something touches me I am dead as well. I wish someone like you could look at my gear and be like, do this, add this and boom now I can lvl higher rifts easier. Is it better to have vitality on gear or armour? Or life %. Thanks for the help.
Mr Wolf, I have a Q please, how do u distinguish between additive and multiplied damage when getting an item??? I do see lot of ppl debate on specific gear if the damage bonus is add or multi. And it confuses me to find which is which. Am not sure if the game explained it anywhere. Many thx.
Hey Wolf, trying to figure out before doing all the work to test it, if using gogok of swiftness has any viable potential in a Patterns of Justice tempest rush flurry build that uses Squirt’s amulet? I know the build uses mantra of salvation agility for 35% dodge chance, and then guardians path passive for another 35% dodge chance for 70%, just curious if with like a rank 100 gogok gem at the full 15 stacks can you achieve 100% or close to it dodge chance? Trying to figure out if that would be worth it losing Taeguk to maximize the uptime of Squirts? As is I’m running the build with taeguk and squirts, basically num-locking serenity, and at the moment can clear GR 117, but I feel like squirts is constantly falling off. But I tried to replace squirts with flavor of time and it just does not hit nearly hard enough to complete the same rift, it just takes too long to kill stuff, so I know the squirts is working, just trying to figure out a way to maximize its uptime, but just not sure if the trade off of losing he damage from taeguk would be worth trying?
Wolfcryer - Alrighty then! Time saved 🤣 just trying to get creative. I tried the Sunwuko version and I know it’s more powerful but I just don’t like it, there’s just too much going on for my liking and I don’t feel like I have the hang of it to use effectively. With managing resource, keeping up sweeping wind and just surviving it feels like I’m trying too hard to only do a little better than PoJ with way less effort
Hay, Hopen you can help me.. Solo player, chr is a Demon Hunter, My set is Shadow and main skill is Impale, paragon 812.. My problem is that im stuck on Gr 89.. i can kill most easy enough other then Gradians, but im like a glass canon ! 1-2 shots from a damn Goatmen with a spear or a fire bomb from one of the flyn witch things and im dead ( Again ) can you plzz tell me what gems will best suit my build !!
I know I'm way late but what if the chance of success is seriously low? At the moment I can do GR 38 fairly comfortably but the success rate is down to 60%, if I do any lower it drops to 30% and 1% if I was to go through rifts that I would breeze by without dying. If I raise my level of GR I tend to die at least once
@@Parasmunt my two highest gems are level 45 I think haven't played in a bit but if I was to do the gr 38 with ease it only grants percentage of success
I’m new to Diablo and now I’m wondering what zdps is lol. Great video though. I’m running with necromancer and I have 4 gems equipped on myself and enchantress which you advice not to use. Mirane etc... lol I need to rethink my selection so thank you. I’m solo necromancer so any advice greatly appreciated. Question : can these legendary gems be used fully on both your character and/or follower? Or is it only possible on yourself, be it ring or amulet? Kept up the videos 👍🏻

i never knew BOT was multiplicative. now i know why on my WOl monk the first hit does eh damage then the second hit just nukes there hp down to nothing
This video was about legendary gems not the normal attribute gems. These legendary gems can only be put into those three items (rings/ammy) to gain the effect.

You can combine them after changing them.

You can’t stack augments on the same item.

Bane of Stricken - Does it mean you have to press and hold the attack button to proc it? Or can you press, release, wait, press again, wait?
It procs and stacks with every attack/skill but only one stack can be applied at a time (perfect for Rift Guardians)

Useful content, makes me think how can I upgrade my necro build. I was really bored by D3, but now I've decided fck it, let's have fun. I may not be on top of the ranks, but I used to like this game a lot. So instead following builds from all over the internet I'm tinkering with legendary gems and Ring of Royal Grandeur, so that my movement and attacks fit more my gaming style - I like to play solo, on Steam Controller. It's super convienient (but not for dh, NOOOPE). :D

Iceblink and Boon of the Hoarder max out at level 50. Don't plan on using them for augmenting. The rest can go as high as you can get them.
malataur Gogok of Swiftness goes to 150. Mutilation Guard and Esoteric Alteration only go to 100, so I wouldn’t advise using those two as augment gems.

I see a lot of support Monks augment their gear with Intelligence. I guess that increases their resistances, right?

You're missing the gem that adds damage for every legendary/ancient item you have on. Is that a newer addition?
The mirinae I have it at max lvl and i use it as part of my lvling farm. Its great for beginning off for starters but later as you reach end game it become useless.

Holy potatoes, sir you spared so much stress u can´t even imagine. I usually play diablo only in every beginning of the seasons for about 2-4 weeks and then wait for the next season to come, therefore whenever i start again i look for new builds and i see all the time "use gem x" and i rly want to understand why and what. Right now im gearing up a lazy inarius (for the 2nd time alrdy this is the most fun build that i ever tried until now) and i read that i shall use mirinae but honestly i did not want it and i rly wanted to know why everyone faps so much to mirinae i just don´t see it. Anyways i now use this poison and bleed gem, i guess bane of the trapped does not need an explanation.

Why can’t I pick up a legendary gem. Says I have no where to put it. It just sits there. Tells me I can’t pick up anymore. But I’ve emptied my bag. Help please.
I am rifting right now with Tals explosive blast. My highest with my Molten gem lvl 35 molten is and bane of the trapped lvl 26 is greater rift lvl 55. Or t12. I am one shooting everything but if my explosion 💥 die and something touches me I am dead as well. I wish someone like you could look at my gear and be like, do this, add this and boom now I can lvl higher rifts easier. Is it better to have vitality on gear or armour? Or life %. Thanks for the help.

Very nice vid man! However I do think you undervalue the “Molten Wildbeest Gizzard” gem a little bit.
Great for leveling a new character, as gems have no level requirement. 10.000 life per second keeps your new character alive in most cases.
How come I could not upgrade my legendary gem past level 13 after beating greater rift?
Does taeguk works with multishot skill when you have yang recurve bow, or it works only with rapid fire skill (demon hunter ) ??

I do see lot of ppl debate on specific gear if the damage bonus is add or multi. And it confuses me to find which is which. Am not sure if the game explained it anywhere.

Hey Wolf, trying to figure out before doing all the work to test it, if using gogok of swiftness has any viable potential in a Patterns of Justice tempest rush flurry build that uses Squirt’s amulet? I know the build uses mantra of salvation agility for 35% dodge chance, and then guardians path passive for another 35% dodge chance for 70%, just curious if with like a rank 100 gogok gem at the full 15 stacks can you achieve 100% or close to it dodge chance? Trying to figure out if that would be worth it losing Taeguk to maximize the uptime of Squirts?
As is I’m running the build with taeguk and squirts, basically num-locking serenity, and at the moment can clear GR 117, but I feel like squirts is constantly falling off. But I tried to replace squirts with flavor of time and it just does not hit nearly hard enough to complete the same rift, it just takes too long to kill stuff, so I know the squirts is working, just trying to figure out a way to maximize its uptime, but just not sure if the trade off of losing he damage from taeguk would be worth trying?
Taegeuk would be a massive damage loss for a build that is already less powerful than the sunwuko version
Wolfcryer - Alrighty then! Time saved 🤣 just trying to get creative. I tried the Sunwuko version and I know it’s more powerful but I just don’t like it, there’s just too much going on for my liking and I don’t feel like I have the hang of it to use effectively. With managing resource, keeping up sweeping wind and just surviving it feels like I’m trying too hard to only do a little better than PoJ with way less effort
Hay, Hopen you can help me.. Solo player, chr is a Demon Hunter, My set is Shadow and main skill is Impale, paragon 812.. My problem is that im stuck on Gr 89.. i can kill most easy enough other then Gradians, but im like a glass canon ! 1-2 shots from a damn Goatmen with a spear or a fire bomb from one of the flyn witch things and im dead ( Again ) can you plzz tell me what gems will best suit my build !!

I know I'm way late but what if the chance of success is seriously low? At the moment I can do GR 38 fairly comfortably but the success rate is down to 60%, if I do any lower it drops to 30% and 1% if I was to go through rifts that I would breeze by without dying. If I raise my level of GR I tend to die at least once
@@Parasmunt my two highest gems are level 45 I think haven't played in a bit but if I was to do the gr 38 with ease it only grants percentage of success
I’m new to Diablo and now I’m wondering what zdps is lol. Great video though. I’m running with necromancer and I have 4 gems equipped on myself and enchantress which you advice not to use. Mirane etc... lol I need to rethink my selection so thank you.

@@Wolfcryer Ahh I see. I guess that makes sense too. I figured that it might have a secondary effect or something... Wishful thinking :) I've now added a couple of flawless topaz gems to the Enchantress now. Let's see how that works out... Thanks vmuch for the reply :)

i never knew BOT was multiplicative. now i know why on my WOl monk the first hit does eh damage then the second hit just nukes there hp down to nothing
Question, if you augment a weapon with a lvl 33 gem and get say 195 INT, can you augment again with a 40 gem and have the two stack?
All your piece of gear can be augmented , why we mention only 3 gem per character I'm confused, anyone can explain what I miss, thx
This video was about legendary gems not the normal attribute gems. These legendary gems can only be put into those three items (rings/ammy) to gain the effect.
@@Wolfcryer thx for your answer, but for the normal attribute gem which ones I choose to upgrade to 150 before I mix it with Dexterity gem for instance?
