I met kale, the maker of the predator antenna and he told me that if I ever have a problem with my predator to give him a call and he will replace any broken parts for free. He looks like a down to earth kinda guy.
I am using SR-A10 CB Antenna. Great product, very close to 1:1 SWR on CB! So far, it seems to be a huge improvement, from my Wilson 5000... Which really was pathetic with regards to receive on my Stryker 655.
I have the single coil version with the 27 inch shaft. It broke in half at the insolator in the middle of the coil, if it is fixable where can i buy parts?

Can we get these antennas for UK CB ? Are they restricted to US CB ? Looks perfect for static mobile or home base use. Looks the part too. Thanks for video.
My work van stands at 7 feet from road to roof. I would snap that antenna on the first low tree. I am a 102" S.S. whip kind of guy, which is all bent but still does a 1:0 on a MFJ-259B. Don't get me wrong, I would use a antenna like a predator but would be mapping out my driving route every day. 73's
i drive a 2019 Pete 579 with fiberglass shell instead of metal. the specs call for any antenna to be mounted on the back of the sleeper in the center. it's where the stock antenna was. i bought the predator with a 6' whip (seller said it's the only whip that works with the predator). i put it where the stock antenna was but the predator with the whip was about a foot or more above the top of the trailer. trailer is 13'6. got the bearcat 880 tuned and peaked and everything was tits. swr was 1.00. but up to michigan i hit low bridges and it took the whip right off. no damage, just took the whip out of the antenna base. got another identical whip and now am going to have to relocate the entire thing.
Quit trying to use that garbage factory coax run some good low loss mount the antenna on the mirror i ran one for 12 years on my pete and i ran close to 20,000 watts worked really well. Just dont touch it while transmitting ask my son
I have a Predator Bad To The Bone and I only could get the SWR to a 1.2 on Ch 20 and a 1.3 on ch 1-&-40 in my opinion I don't think the antenna is all that great with SWR I could see if there was an amplifier inline and the SWR was a 1.2 to 1.3 then it's acceptable but for a barefoot radio doing 4 to 5 watts and having an SWR at 1.2 to 1.3 that's kind of high for a barefoot radio, But If anybody could point a few thing out to me please let me know.
+xDabighurtx, The SWR is actually the same at 10 watts, 100 watts or 1000 watts. You can't measure the SWR with an amp due to harmonic content produced by the amp itself. An SWR under 1.5 is excellent so it leaves me wondering what you are trying to achieve.
+Clay Thompson I was trying to achieve a flat SWR like a 1.0 or 1.1 Right now I'm only doing 5 watts and the SWR is 1.2 to 1.3 barefoot no amp, Is there anything you can point out that might help lower it down.
+xDabighurtx, The lower the SWR the lower your field strength. In other words, your transmitting distance will be decreased with lower SWR. Your transmitting distance will actually increase with a higher SWR. You should tune the antenna for the lowest SWR reading so you won't damage your radio but don't put to much relevance on the SWR level especially below a 1.5

The Stryker SR-A10 center loaded version more powerful than the predator. Because predator can easily catch the water. Oops! I clearly screwed up on my recent purchase of the K-1-17 🫤 I purchased it for use on my car but I can’t possibly mount it on the car so I was going to place it on a tow hitch mount style base. Not sure what I can do at this point.

It's a first class antenna. However, you have to have a really strong mount for it. Also, the wind noise it makes is insane.

Mark the antenna is tunable from 26MHz to 29MHz

You could run a 102 " whip using a ball mount mounted in the rear quarter

The antenna can be converted to the dual coil SW model. The whip can then be cut down to 39 inches.
Buy a shorter whip for a k40 can get them at some truckstops

I currently running an SR-A10 on my truck an it is a disappointment. I will go back to an open coil antenna, predator to be precise.
If you call Kale the guy who makes them and who's number is widely known hell replace the parts for free.
