    Mr Seun, the problem started as a result of nepotism where the South West Universities like OAU, UI, UNILAG are compelled to admit students with very high entrance results and their undergraduate scoring are very high while in the Northern part, their Universities of same class admit those that are suppose to be in Secondary school classes and see them graduating with First Class like their counterparts who went through Hell and Burnt Candles before getting 2nd Class Upper. Many SANs in the Northern part of Nigeria are suppose to still be in Law Schools but now they are SAN.
    Leave the Degrees from outside the country and resolve the rot in our in-house educational systems.
    Am speaking from experience where I met a graduate from one of the Northern Federal University with 2nd Class Upper that can't different between Depreciation and Amortization as well as demonstrating good knowledge of double entry system.

      I disagree with your suggestion to leave Degrees outside Nigeria. My experience in the Government Service shows that, there are such Degrees issued by Institutions in the South as well, within the country too. There were (may be they still exist) those obtained on the Streets carrying names of notable Institutions in Nigeria.

    That’s very bad

    My observations is on the implementation of education policies in Nigeria, most especially instructing students, I believe technology should be incorporated, in instructing students, example are the application of projectors, and introduction of software education management, for quick, and fast online studies, and better response from, school administration.
    Secondly, information communication technology computer, should also, be the most facilitating concept for better education, improved education in Nigeria.

    They should use that smartness to solve problems in society, by engaging them in the pre-stage of their life. IT, Technical skills, Engineering skills, agric in general entrepreneurship, business administration, music, and many others. In fact, we need to look beyond education in this country, we need to start creating a mind set of inventing in this country.. that was how China made today... the Ministry of Education should mandate a certificate of skills development before gaining admission into the university, it should be part of university requirements... I believe it would help our youths to be aware of themselves, before getting admission into university... the majority of the youth today go back and acquire all these skills after realizing that have wasted time in education rather than acquiring skills at a tender age... how many percentages of youths today have secured jobs but yet Nigerian university graduates students every year. Few of the youth have always secured jobs in this country. The majority of the youth are bound to the Philistines.

    The minister needs to understand that " Ogbon ko mu agba" i.e. wisdom is not about age as in how old in years is someone but wisdom is about age as in experience in what you are doing.
    My advice is, change the curriculum or syllabus to be more practical oriented not just dwelling on age at entrance into tertiary institutions by these GenZ. The truth is that, their brain can carry lots of innovations better than those elders ahead of them.
    Why not return moral and religious studies to the curriculum along side the technical/ enterpreneurship skill acquistion where they spend more years like 2 focusing on this before graduation.

    The students loan program is a positive development and an indication, that the Nigerian government is paying more attention to education. However, the greatest challenge facing the country now is the 20 million ( UNICEF) out of school Nigerian children.
    Insurgent groups, kidnappers, armed gangs have recruited thousands of them to swell their ranks, such that Nigeria is gradually becoming a failed state.
    This problem is more acute in Northern Nigeria, where millions of children are out of school. And this explains, why the region is now facing serious security challenges.
    Fortunately, the Hon Minister of Education is from the North, which is yet, another opportunity to solve this vexatious problem, once and for all. Nigeria should not expect to enjoy peace, so long, as these children are not in school.

  • @osasosasco2615
    @osasosasco2615 Před 18 dny

    The truth is the North has established sites to help student apply but in other parts south south south west and south east..there are no establishment of such that's why you see high applications from North..senatorial constituencies I mean the senators should set up office put a computer there two workers to help students

  • @FolaA-u5b
    @FolaA-u5b Před 7 dny

    In other parts of the world Applicants can DIRECTLY apply to ANY University of their choice. Infact as many as they like. When is the Minister going to adopt that policy too? Until then, he needs to hide his head in shame for SELECTIVELY making reference to the state of affairs in Tertiary Education in other parts of the world.
    Tackle Examination Malpractice not Exceptional Intelligence. We need more children in school. Millions are on the streets and out of school under extremely vulnerable conditions. What has this Minister done about this category of UNDERAGED children? Hypocrisy at his peak.
    Let the Mr. Minister come clean, lift the veil and let us know his actual agenda behind this hideous and senseless policy.
    He is 70 and should be retired. He should stop the age discrimination because at his age he should also be resting his tired old head and taking his meds. Pot calling kettle black.

    The education minister should not deceive himself and Nigerians in believing the reason the Chinese go seek foreign education in America and Canada is the same reason Nigerians go seek foreign degrees. Chinese and Indian have higher learning institutions that can compete with US and Canada, but we don't have learning institutions that can compete with South Africa. I don't know where all these BABALAWO PROFESSORS in Nigeria come from.

This is how will defend ignorant and that is how we got to where we are today. A country where you can become a graduate without stepping into a university class and you can use the fake degree to become a Senator or other high profile job. Please be quiet, don't defend ignorant. Education system is only one of so many broken systems. Which one is critical thinking, when you teaching us what will not benefit us after graduation. You put too many unnecessary courses in the syllabus to the extent that students doesn't have time for research or anything else. This force student to start garbage in and out just to pass the course and graduate. You produce graduates without given them any scale but bunch of theories that will not assist them to live their live and that has been the reason why importation cannot stop since more than 90% of the graduates were thought any skills they can use to provide for themselves. I believe there are some courses that trying but we need to work on that if we want this country to move forward.
