I’ve been following this tourney for 4 years now and no grand finals has been as hype as Mango vs M2K at TBH4
Jesus mango wtf just stay falco. The meta nowadays needs to change, hbox is way too good at the puff fox matchup. Players like plup and mango need to use their true mains against the box. But still congrats to hbox hes way too good.

I feel like very few of the top players actually played well; the game seemed slightly slower than usual, is it just me?
Thats what happens when non puff / icies players play anywhere from 10/14 hours in a day, sick tourney schedule
@Abso the 14 hour game day did suck but a lot of majors (especially big house) have crappy schedules like that so I don’t think that’s a valid excuse. And even Hbox and Bananas were playing off a bit. Hbox dropped some early games. So I don’t think that was a valid point either. They’re human not every top player can play as immaculately as wizzy.
drewstello muntkins off the top of my head I know Genesis and SnS had better schedules than this, you cant be expected to spend an entire day playing at the peak of your abilities, even moreso when you you’re the most tired is when you need to be playing the best. Also, HBox dropped 1 game the entire tournament(18-1 in games (!!!)), so he was hardly playing off a bit. He even admitted himself the schedule was dong for the players.
In addition to the 14 hour schedule this was the first time most of the players practiced with the dweens. I think Leffen said he didn't practice with them enough.
Leffen had been focusing on DBFZ since evo, the week before Big House was when he swapped focus back to melee.
Mang0 only made a gameplan for Leffen. While he studied Leffen's play and prepared to counter it, he didn't do the same for Plup or Hbox. Against them he chose to "freestyle" and you can clearly see the results.
Zain and Plup had to play more matches then the others, losing in round 1 and having to make insane losers runs to make it to top eight. Its no wonder their gameplay is rough after 12 hours of such stressful gameplay.

Ya know the more tournys i watch the more i realize how much i appreciate commentators who know nerdy shit. Like despite the charisma and hype they might have, sometimes it feels really lacking when the commentators dont know much about the matchups let alone the characters. And like granted theres a shit ton that most people just dont know but like i think some commentators could do a better job studying up some nerdy shit.

Fox and Falco drift down very slightly during up b and the second one mango shined twice which is a decent stall but doesn't stop you from going down.

Not necessarily. While Hbox was impressive you have to acknoledge that litterally everything outside of his control worked out in his favor.
1. BH8 was the first tournament ever to use dween, so all players have to relearn certain tech. Hbox uses the least tech of any top player.
2. The 12 strait hours of tournament got many players tired, and got their tech rusty. This effects Puff and Icies the least.
3. Zain, one of the two players most likely to beat Hbox got his worst matchup in round 1, against the most underrated player in the scene (Gahtzu got 17th at evo despite only losing to Leffen and Armada).
Not saying Hbox wasn't playing great this tournament, he was, you just got to realize alot of things that led to his victory were completely outside of the game.

So you dont know why people hate hbox but are also ignorant of his history within the community? Well that does make sense to say the least. What exactly about spacing aerials and tomahawk throws into follow DI or techchase is especially entertaining? Theres no problem with liking the guy but you should know that there are many reports of his poor behavior to competitors and random women in the community.
Octavio Gonzalez I’m not an og viewer. I came to like melee because of hbox. I think of this as the situation zero is in. The throne is a lonely place everyone hates on because they aren’t in it 🤷♂️ hbox has made mistakes and I don’t blame him. I look at leffen acting like a child and he doesn’t get hate for it. Which is why I ask, hbox gets super hate, out of anyone I’ve seen
