The 2023 Anaheim 1 Supercross is set to kick off the Monster Energy Supercross season, this Saturday in Angel Stadium. The A1 Supercross is one of the most exciting dirt bike races of the year and with Eli Tomac, Ken Roczen, Jason Anderson, Cooper Webb, Chase Sexton, Adam Cianciarulo and more set to go racing, we're anticipating an intense night of racing.
In This Week in MXA, episode 106, presented by O'Neal, Josh Mosiman previews the upcoming race, talking about the interesting Dirt Wurx track layout, the rainy weather in Southern California, the 250 riders confirmed to race on the West Coast and Ken Roczen's new opportunities with the HEP Suzuki team.

Correction: Honda did “NOT do everything to make the CRF work for Roczen.” Just the opposite. He went out on a non factory Honda in WSX (World SuperCross) and smoked all the KTM factory bikes and beat Star Yamaha against a powerful Tomac, that Ken Roczen himself was allowed to set up without Honda USA interfering. Honda USA blew it by not supporting his requests for changes. They also , most likely bent to pressure from corrupt FELD Entertainment, which most racers feel, is destroying this sport to not respond with higher salary plus a new contract after he won the “real” world supercross series. As many fans are saying, F&$* Feld and Go Kenny!

youll see and top 12 guy means he is just circulating the course if your not on the podium every race your just picking up a check whch is what most riders do i dont call them pro unless your performance deserves the label

I got Roczen on podium for sure A1 very possible win. He’s got a bike he’s comfortable and happy with, a team that backs him up and works with him instead of against him and a clear and driven mindset and when he has all those things together he gets the win. Yeah it’s a new bike and yeah he doesn’t have tons of time on it but it’s Ken Roczen he doesn’t need that much time he can get the win. There is definitely going to be an intense battle for top 5 spots for sure too many winners n the same race lol.
The Suzuki can absolutely win a SX event. It's the outdoors where it will struggle.

I want to know how the new playoff series is going to affect the Supercross only guys, for instance Eli Tomac, could he make enough points in Supercross only to qualify for the playoffs? Or is somebody like Tomac, Marvin and Webb, are they going to have to race a couple outdoor races to qualify for the playoffs?

There's an excellent chance that Josh is correct. Just look what Kenny did at A1 last year. The only difference is that last year, Kenny was flying under the radar, and this year he's the talk of the town.
yes roczen won round 1 but then pulled a 13th the second round then a 7th and another 13th hardly good enough to label him as pro the money those guys make they should win
no excuses they are primarilt paid to win and you race to win they have been racing most of their lives there is no excuse not to win you figure it out or get a different job
Ya he might of won A1 BUT he pussied out half way through the season and QUIT. I been involved in the industry as an engineer and I’m currently at A1 and he might come out strong but he will get his A** handed to him within the first few races.

Don’t know where you are seeing all these new Suzuki being at the track. Sure none around here. Maybe one out of a few hundred. My friend was at quite a few Florida tracks recently and he isn’t seeing any yellow..
So please educate me, why do suzuki not have an electric start. Always wondered especially when AM was riding it and struggling to touch the deck.
Because they’re literally outdated machines that don’t even have IP wanting to participate in off-road racing anymore yet all the C Class hero’s simp so hard for them

I heard Honda didn't really do everything they could cos they wouldn't let him have his complete say in his bikes setup. But who knows, maybe that's not true.
we have Kenny's post WSX interview where he said he finally got to try the linkage he wanted and said, "good to know i can still ride whoops!" so that tells ya what HRC was doing, or not doing to help Kenny on bike set-up.

In one of the first interviews he did after signing, he praised the handling and chassis, but when talking about the power he said something like "we're working on some things." Seems like something that could potentially hold him back at his level.
Suzuki is still a great bike if they just put e-start on them many more would buy them. I would have one now if they did that for us
But it would make the heaviest bike even heavier. Not ideal. They left MotoGP. I think they're throwing in the towel. Bummer.

Kenny will have good races. Other than weight and no estart, the factory suzuki has everything that the others have. . Just him signing with suzuki has stepped them up in a huge way! If he wins on it, that will blow the roof off for them. It will be interesting.

For Ken Roczen, others that have talent and commitment, you can ride anything. I rode years at Milesotne Mx, and saw guys who did not give up and rode well on the least desirable bikes

@@slayer6936 sx champ mx champ mxon champ. Seems pretty dominant to me. Yes Anderson was good last year in sx. And sexton was pretty dam good in mx but Eli had more points at the end of each season and that’s what matters. Dungey understood what it took to win championships. Consistency and as the goat always says “winning on your off days”. Jett Lawrence was the one guy who truly dominated last year but Eli did it in the big bike class so that’s why I’m sayin he dominated last year and I believe he will this year.

I am not taking nothing away from Eli at all but he was not dominant in SX!! Anderson will take the SX championship and for MX I see Jet taking it! Look how he put the smack down on Chase at the nations!! I think he will beat Eli to if he races MX..

I think suzuki has been working on a new bike and it will be out for sale as a 2024 model. The Honda's aren't that much better than suzuki and Hondas have been disappointing since 2009.
For all the reasons you suggested take the pressure off KR I say he’s gonna have that much more pressure but a convenient out for him to complain about the bike since it’s “just” a Suzuki.

I just don't see any way for Roczen to win. It would take Tomac, Sexton, Anderson, Mookie, Ferrandis and Webb to all have sub-par nights in my opinion.
I'd say a podium is a best case scenario.

KR left Suzuki complaining about the bike, KR left KTM complaining about the bike, now KR has left Honda complaining about the bike, only to return to a dying Suzuki MX program to finish his career with zero Supercross Championships.
Eli tomac fell and still won ps ken got like 5th
OMG.....rm450 doesn't even have a starter yet. Yeah, they are a frigging dinosaur. Suzuki still sells a lot of cars outside the US along with outboards, etc. Motorcycle sales make up a measly 5% of their gross sales, that's why they don't give a 💩 about putting money/R&D into their motorcycle division. Pressure is definitely off because I think he's gonna have a tough time this year.
OMG are you miss informed, Suzuki has an E-start 450, the RMX450Z, They had it before Honda, Kawasaki or Yamaha. They were also the first with fuel injection, and the BFRC shock which Sexton used on his honda and is very popular in GP's, guys here just dont know how to set it up. Suzuki simply did not put E-start on the motocross version of the 450 becasue of the added weight and complexity that an MX bike doesnt need. When was the last time you won a race in the pits starting your bike?

Roczen should have signed with green. He looks good on yellow but Anderson is going to be tough to beat
Here's how I see it realistically.
K Roc- fastest of the bunch but has issues fading that can hopefully be resolved
J Anderson- Almost the fastest but like tomac can hold that pace. Just needs to be consistent.
Tomac- about same speed as Anderson and can hold race pace a whole main. A little more consistent than Anderson.
Sexton- can be the fastest and can hold pace just needs to be consistent.
If Ken can magically fix fitness issues I believe he would win. Realistically though I'd go with tomac or Anderson with sexton slightly behind.
