The soldiers lived sheltered lives Negan's group were survivors so id say it would even the odds since they would have a similar army if Negan forced everyone to fight and due to Eugene they would have enough guns and ammo to fight a war.

Seems no one remembers in season 4 when Eugene wouldn't leave without Glenn he said and I quoted " after the world is saved , I,d still have to live with myself ". He was a G from the start never doubted him I just didn't know when.

I didn't realize how well played this was from Eugene, it was a win win scenario. If his defective bullet plan worked, he beats the saviors and saves his friends. If it didn't. He would've been Negan's 2nd in command with everything he ever wanted. Video games, liquor, wives. Etc...
He overpacked the gun powder in all the bullets so the whole magazine explodes. The funny part is, no one tested their ammo before use lmao, military standard protocol

Eugene may not have been the pretty one or the most deadliest fighter in the group, but he was the most cunning and smartest in the group. He knew how much power both words and knowledge could get him. And he used both to his advantage, getting help from Abraham in the beginning and earning Negan's trust enough to arm his militia with faulty ammunition.
The really scary part is that apparently some of those sabotage rounds are still in circulation out there. Saw a video a while back of some guy getting ready to fire his new AK, and the damned thing grenades in his hands at the first shot.
eugene’s character development is never talked about as much as daryl or glenn’s but he really figured out how to step up and be as useful as possible in the ways he knew how. he knew he wasn’t a fighter, his strength lied in his intelligence. he had already undergone a lot of development before losing abraham, but abraham’s death was a big slap of reality to eugene. i love that he never changed from being a bit of a weird, awkward guy, either. those were never flaws in eugene.
