  • 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Berger Double COPO 427 Muscle Car Of The Week Video Episode #103
    This week, we're playing with what appears to be a fairly common-looking 1969 Camaro. But once you look closer, some details present themselves that indicate that this is definitely NOT a typical used car lot '69. In fact, it's a true double-COPO 427 car sold through Berger Chevrolet, and it is still in original paint. Truly a gem in the Brothers Collection.

    My husband and I bought this car new from Berger, and yes it was a daily driver. Fun to see the look on other drivers faceswhen they pulled up next to me. I was coming home from getting groceries! Sure wish we still had it...

    I like how Berger kept the original GM look, hockey stick stripes, front endura bumper, with the COPO 9737 spoilers and rally wheels. No custom stripes here. They did look pretty cool and they were distinctive without being brash, they were more "stealthy" than Yenkos or Baldwin Motion cars and they still looked different from the SS or Z/28 cars too.

  • @rondpert5167
    @rondpert5167 Před 2 lety +2

    COPO 9737 added the 140 mph speedometer, large sway bar, 15" rally wheels, etc.
    But the 12 bolt rear, curved neck radiator and the special hood was needed for the COPO 9561 engine installation.

    I was born in 69 so I missed out on the brand new muscle car era, but have enjoyed them ever since. I live 10 minutes from Berger Chevy, they are still in bussiness and will sell you a camaro or corvette with any upgrades you desire. I am also lucky enough to work right next to the shop that does all their chassie dyno tuning. I get to hear LS motors reving to the moon on a daily basis...I love it. I would definently drive it every day. It would just require modern tires and another 12 bolt with 323 gears to swap back and forth with the 410 axle.. O...and s few million a year for 110 octane fuel...

      a 323 rear end hell you want to go 180mph and just on getting it to take of from a standing stop one would have to bring it up to anywhere between 1.500 and 2.OOO REV TO TAKE OF OR IT WOULD DIE ON YOU ON MINE IDLING WAS BETWEEN 1.250 AND 1.350 AND IT WOULD CHOKE UP IF NOT REVING AT LEAST1,500 ON TAKE OF

    Regarding the question...would you have bought this as a daily driver?
    Then and now, not in high numbers of course.
    But my dad was maybe insane......he had a 68 z28 with 4.33 gears, and then a 70 LS6 with 4.11s.....that he daily drove from Farmington MI to downtown Detroit every day for work.
    Remember, this was before I696 or any major expressways, so his drive may have been down Grand River at 45mph. Nonetheless....a story on how things have changed.

    if i had this original survivor car, i would not drive it daily, i would be too afraid of someone smashing into it. i did however build a 77 chevy truck in high school with a pretty hot 355, th350 and 3.73 12 bolt that i beat the ever lovin f**k out of every day for about 7 years untill i needed money and had to sell it. i really miss that truck a lot.

    Its worth a mint. I've never seen that color on a 69 Camaro or on any Chevy for that matter. The painted front bumper wasn't factory was it? I know it was popular to paint or remove gen 1 Camaro bumpers in the mid 70's when new Camaro's started coming out with body colored bumpers. I not a fan of doing that to a 69 Camaro but a lot of people did it.

    I would hope that ALL 427 Camaro had a 12 bolt and disc brakes, I think in 69 they were standard equipment?? I had a 67 RS with disc brakes and it had the Corvette style 4 piston calipers which leaked all the time so I went to a 'junk' yard and got later Nova set-up. BB Camaro with drum brakes is asking for trouble, my 1st Camaro was a 327 car and I dropped a 396 325 in with headers and a holley spreadbore, lets just say braking left lots to be desired after a few stops fade set in, serious fade

      kanukster Wrrrong! Unless you are talking about the 50th models. Hurst put 50 of them into 1969 Darts, something Chrysler wouldn't do. 1971 Monaco, 440 Golden Commando but no Pachederm. Research a little more and you will find the 426s were not that easy to order outside of the performance platforms except for government or law enforcement. Bonus points if you can tell me the first Hemi Chrysler made, how they kept cities safe, and the largest vehicles Chrysler used it in.

I bought it in 1985 from the second owner that lived by me the car was bought new in Hudson Que. from Lake Wood Motors .It has A 302 Cowell induction hood ,rock crusher Muncie 22 with the Hurst shifter on floor council and BE 410 COPO rear end .There is 2 holes where the builder sign would go at the back 40,000 miles on it .Why would you spend more money doing this as a Z28 than buying a new Z28 I also have the only Buick 1969 Skylark GS Stage one 400 in Canada .we bought it in 1977 Our son was beating Corvettes with it Just pulled it out of storage after over 30 years Like to race them to see which is The fastest.
