Personally, as a big man. 6'4 400lbs. The 2008 Honda VTX 1300, is not only an amazing bike to start on, but for many you may find it's the bike you stay on.
I wouldn't recommend the C50 if your not going to change the handle bars. I'm 6'7" 270lbs with around a 39"-40" inseam, the bars are way too low for even get close to a full lock, I have a 2000 Yamaha Vstar 650 classic with 6 inch drag bars and that works perfect for me.
I recommend almost any adventure bike, r1250gs, v-strom, tiger (I personally own), multistrada, super tenere, super adventure, klr - they're great for tall riders and great all around bikes.
I'm that guys size and although maybe not for a beginner the Victory Vision is better than any of the newer bikes. I've riden all the new I dians and Harleys and nothing is like the vision. Keep the rubber side down. ✌️
Alex Simmons I’m going Thursday to look at/ purchase a 2005 Suzuki C50! Sat on one and I fit great. Thanks again for the advice. Can’t wait to cruise around on my first bike
Hi Alex, good video with great proposals. I find myself in the same spot as Chris, as I am a 6.6ft tall rider 233 pounds, and currently I'm riding a mt-07 tracer. I've already went through honda nc750x, suzuki v-strom 1000 (DL1000), and yamaha fjr1300, but my heart belongs to the cruiser world and where i live there are no much options in that segment. Kinda leaning to vulcan S as i don't want a huge motorcycle ( I do a lot of commute ), but I'm still unsure if the largest ergo fit setting will fill my needs (we don't have any ergo fit center where I live). Yamaha xv950r (bolt) is another one i'm leaning too, but looks a bit like the rebel, not sure if I'll be ever well fitted there. Sorry for the long text, would really appreciate some help, since due the pandemic I can't go arround dealers to try out the bikes. Cheers!
Hey people 6'2 285lb (trying to get down to 205lb) I rode a Ducati 696. my knees hurt and i felt like i was to big but people wouldnt say it to me. Looking at maybe Vulcan S or similar.
I'm 6ft 2, 250lbs and looking for a cruiser to start on, was looking at vstar 650 or iron 883.. but starting to lean towards a softail slim or dyna street bob, but concerned about whether its too much power for a beginner
Should be about perfect as far as physical size actually haha, if you are a beginner I usually recommend something smaller in engine size, but the VTX is tame enough you can begin with one if you are careful.
Now...I am 20 years old so legaally I can only drive up to 250 cc and 35 kw, but Im 350 lbs 6'6. Is there even a bike at 250 cc that can comfortably carry me in commuting and shorter relations. Saftey and comfort first
so a rebel 250 wont be a good pick for me? 275lb without gear, prob like 285lb with, and 6ft tall barefoot. I have someone willing to sell me a 2000 rebel 250 for $900. i am effectively a brand new rider. so i thought a starter bike would be good, but i plan on spending some time on the freeway, and im afraid i wont be able to keep up with traffic well on it. another option is a 2003 yamaha v star 950 for $2k at a local dealership. probably like 2.5k after all the fees. i like that one becuase its fuel injected, but its stretching my budget by about double my comfort zone, AND im afriad its too much bike. a 3rd option is a 1994 honda magna for $1200 private party. but i dont know the guy. and after fees from dmv, ill expect her to be about $1600 all said and done. for an old carburated bike with harder to find parts each year. thoughts anyone?
I would definitely start with something else that fits you, a bagger will have a lot of additional weight etc that I think riders need some experience to be ready for!
Thanks for your videos man. They are a big help for me. I watch all of them. I have a question. I own a sv650 and love that thing will ride it and keep it forever. I am thinking about getting a cruiser. What is a good cruiser to start on that i can keep and grow into for years in your opinion? I'm 6'1" 260.
Sorry for the delay Luke, I've been away! Well it will depend on whether you want a cruiser that ismore performance and handling oriented so you won't miss the sporty nature when not riding your SV, or do you just want straight up long distance riding comfort? There are a lot to pick from, and some lean more toward performance while others go more for comfort level
@@lukerasche1251 Good question. I'm 6'1 270 with a 32 inseem. I started on the Vulcan S and now I want to ride 300+ runs. Did you find something you would recommend?
hello alex, im planning to buy a bike gsxr600 with a 240 fat tire kit..but its been 2.5 decades that i never ride motorcycle do you think its good for me to get that kind of bike....
Yes that can be a great starting point for a little taller rider. Also look at a Ninja 500, it'll probably be cheaper and I think it has better performance plus a better transmission.
Alex Simmons thanks. I’m really looking for more of a standard or street bike. I also love the cb 650 but I’m worried that might be a little much for a new rider. Any thoughts?
A Honda rebel is a good choice but if your fat it’s not going to be good.. motorcycles are sensitive to weight. Too much weight bike will be too sluggish
6'3" 450lbs Vulcan 900 custom. All day baby. No problems.
I am 6'1'' and 210lbs, and I like vulcan S so much, I tried honda rebel 500 and my dad told me that I look like bear on circus bike.... xD
Hahaha, Kawasaki did a great job when they made the Vulcan S so adjustable! Ride safe!
Think you just helped me make up my mind as I have been trying to decide between the two

Not a super size, 6’2 270, started on a 2007 Honda Shadow Sabre and loved it
Awesome choice, great all around mid size with a proven engine. Can’t agree more, great choice

2012 Yamaha v star 1300 @ 5’-10” 250lbs like butter 🧈

I’m 6’4 320lbs I ride a wide glide.
I’m 6’1” 280 and I’ve been looking at the Yamaha vstar, what is the minimum size I should aim for to be comfortable
Thank you for this brother. Helps a ton!
Any time!

6'6 270, i drive a suzuki marauder 1600 and couldn't reccomend it enough
I’m 5’10 290lbs looking at a 2013 1300 V Star deluxe. I’ve rode nothing but dirt bikes do you think this is to much for my first bike??

I'm 6'6 400, looking at the v star, if I can adjust the foot pegs forward, that'd be awesome
I'm more interested in the Royal Einfields. Will a 20 hp engine get a 280lb rider up to 70mph?
Awesome, I'm 6'2" 270lbs (farmboy build) lol leaning towards a Vulcan S or a Ninja 650
Both awesome choices built off the same proven engine, go try both on for size and see what fits better!
I'm 6 foot 215 would a vtx 1300 be to much bike

I am 6’1” and 300# will a Indian scout bobber work for me? Thanks
It absolutely can, it will all depend on how you personally feel on the bike! You'll need to try one out to know. Sorry for the delayed response!
Im 5'9 250 pounds what would you recommend for a beginner's bick
Thanks in advance
I'm 6 foot 285lb.. would a bagger be a good choice? Or something more beginner friendly
I would definitely start with something else that fits you, a bagger will have a lot of additional weight etc that I think riders need some experience to be ready for!
would you consider the Harley Softail or the BMW R18 as good bikes for tall rider (6'3)?
What gear would you recommend for big and tall people
Thanks for your videos man. They are a big help for me. I watch all of them.

So what bike would you suggest for a 320 lb man at 5ft10. It could be anew or used bike.
No recommendations? Dang
Nothing yet !!? Still waiting. Lost some weight though. Now at 290 I/o 320 lb.
Great and knowledgeable video! Thank you! 👍👍👍
Question,
Could a young rider look good on a Suzuki boulevard s40 at 6’0 and 150 pounds?
Yamaha bolt for 6'4 250 lbs sound decent?
hello alex, im planning to buy a bike gsxr600 with a 240 fat tire kit..but its been 2.5 decades that i never ride motorcycle do you think its good for me to get that kind of bike....
Would a Honda CB500F be a good starter? I’m 6’5 and 230, 36in inseam
Yes that can be a great starting point for a little taller rider. Also look at a Ninja 500, it'll probably be cheaper and I think it has better performance plus a better transmission.

Forget tall. Do one on just big

beginner on a 1300? 900? Harley wide glide? do you want him to DIE? lol
