Wow!!! Sooo good!!! Glad i found this. Uneasy Rider is my go to karaoke song. Been listening to your music since I was a kid. Lived in Wilmington for 6 years. Your one of NC's greatest people ever!!! Thanx for all the great tunes!!!
I had the humbling privilege to meet this fine Christian gentleman a couple of years ago. He was so kind and sweet! I'm 52 and have loved all of his music all of my life! Hew was and is an American treasure!
@Cerberus, Charlie wasn't always this way; he had an integrated band in the 70s, sang about not wanting to get beat up for having long hair and a peace sign on his car and taking another toke, and once berated an audience for yelling racial slurs at a black comedian. By 1988, however, a new version of Uneasy Rider had him and his good ole boys beating up gays in a bar. He was also a cheerleader for invading Iraq.
I grew up going to Charlie Daniels day in the 80's. He even did a free concert at my junior high school. I got to get out of class and help clean up after the show and I sat and talked to him once for about 15 min. He was very cool and very nice. I think i was 14. At Charlie Daniels day they would bring the Skoal race car and show it off and they gave away free cans of Skoal and the new Skoal Bandit in a pouch. All of us was walking around with our mouths packed full of dip. Some of the best times of my life. Charlie was and is an American treasure. Sad to hear of his passing.
Saw Charlie At Fork of the River in 96 Rock the Smokies Concert. The show was put on by Skoal and tickets were free if you sent in a card to skoal. What a treasure this performance is. Godspeed Charlie...we'll miss your soapbox posts, but we Will have your writings and songs to keep.you close..
Damn we was so good! What a legend!
I saw CDB live several times and in 1987, I worked off duty at the Celebrity Theatre at one of his shows. I met Taz before he went on and Carlie after the show because the manager found out I was a fan. I still have the picture he signed for me. What a gentleman and patriot. We aren’t as good as when he was here.
What a beautiful song
This tore me up. Please watch after him Jesus...
Oh Charlie, I miss you. This is a beautiful song. Indeed, we lost a Golden Child when we lost Charlie too soon.
So glad these have been documented and posted.
WYO does love Charlie. Saw him at the last CFD appearance. Amazing singer, songwriter and man. Our prayers goes out the the CDB family. God bless.
I grew up in Mt. Juliet Tn. When I was in Junior High in the early 80s CDB would play a free concert a few weeks before school year ended in gym at 10a in the morning. Just us kids and school staff. I will never forget how kind he was to us pimple faced kids.
A hometown hero. RIP sir.
Truly one of a kind. Charlie, thanks for everything you will be missed .
He resonates the entire universe! I have no words to express how great this man is. He is the Man!
70's and early 80's was the best of times
I got to see him at Volunteer Jam. No way I can remember what years, we threw down pretty hard back then.
his dialect is so unique. i wish i could speak like him. he is so natural.
He taught me how to make all the red lights turn green and it still works today and that was back in 97 98 something he was such a beautiful man he had to hide it with the glasses and that big scary beard.
I wonder how many of the stars of today would be able to just pick up a guitar, sing, and perform like that all by themselves.
@ImNotMad ButUR very rarely.
@ImNotMad ButUR oh wow, yeah you're totally right! It's certainly not mainstream. It's all about boats n hoes, or drank. I'm only 37 and I sound like my grandpa :/
RIP Charlie. What a beautiful song.
Love this song and charlie
