1970 Porsche 911T: Ticket to Ride

  • Bart Kuykens has already given a lot of his time to Porsche 911s. He puts together multi-volume books about these cars and the people that own them with his own photographs, and he maintains, modifies, drives, and generally loves his own, a 1970 911T. The car featured in today’s film is Bart’s 911, but it’s also, as he describes, his ticket. To freedom, to a smile on his face after a long day. A ticket to places where he can meet people who are similarly smitten with old air-cooled Porsches, whether those places be high in the Alps or in the corner of his local car meet parking lot.

I bought a 1977 3.0 Carrera Targa in '86 near Munich . It was priced at 32.000 BUT Since the classic dealer was a friend of my uncle i bought it all in cash he knocked of 2 grand . All in 500 Deutschmark bills . Those were the days ! Cash was king then . Now you take out big big bills they look at you in a funny way like if your are dodgy . I was only 20 years old . I must have appeared like a spoiled brat to some which t the time i guess i was a bit.
