Just discovered your channel. Used to hike/wild camp but now in a wheelchair - miss it so much, could watch all day. Thank you so much Paul🙏
That must be an annoying situation to say the least. I have Aunts with that very problem and worry about them.
sea kayak?
Excellent and very fair video on two very good tents. I have the Soulo and Tarra for the north of Scotland and love them both. They are ridiculous in price but I cant fault them in any other way. I have been camping for nearly 40 years and have gone through a fair few tents over the years. I can honestly say i wish ide bought Hilleberg sooner. I am not a tent snob. I work dam hard in low paid jobs and save for what i want to buy. Cheers
I think the soulo is a brilliant tent Alan. However it is very expensive and not everybody can justify buying one. I do think that the current price is a little over the top. But i agree with you, I've had some stick in the past because my gear is expensive, but I work hard for it and this is my passion, and how I'd choose to spend my money is up to me. Thank you for watching
I also have a fairly limited income, but I love hiking and camping, so I'm also very happy to save up for good quality gear which performs well and lasts for years. 😊
I was raised to get quality, and only pay once for the item I want!
I live very simply, and I work hard, to be able to purchase the good gear I want.
I'm currently saving for a Hilleberg tent!! 😁
Love my Soulo., only use it in winter so needed a quick fix. Its in the car now ready for my next trip with my new Pipe dream 600 bag. Thanks for the video.
Mate, you're an absolute natural. These are great videos. No pissing about. Just straight facts from an expert for people who are looking for camping advice. Really well produced content. Nice one and thanks.
I like the look of the nature hike cloud peak two and I'm planning on walking the whole of the south west coastal path next year so I think I'll be buying one. Thanks for the review. Great videos Paul keep up the good work.
Really good to see this comparison, Paul. Thanks for taking the time.
Cheers Olly. I'm glad you found this one useful
Im back!! I absolutely love camping but the most ive ever done is go into my garden with a £50 tent and hope I dont die!! Thank you for all these amazing videos reviews!! I hope you continue to grow and produce more amazing content!
My wild country helm 1 is the best one man tent I’ve ever used. Quality, price, weight, head room and porch space, stability, it’s just brilliant.
Agree , I have the compact and it’s spot on 👌🏼
I have a Vango Tempest 300(cost £100) and have wild camped with my lad in some pretty rough weather. The Vango TBS (worth looking up) system is spot on. I do everything on a budget and have never been concerned my gear isn't up to it. You do have to do your research and choose wisely though. Great vids Paul
A very thorough and fair review Paul. Each have their merits, top-notch filming and editing as always. 👍👍👍
I agree Anthony. Each tent does what it's designed to do. One is more suited to finer weather and will breathe better...the other is a mountain monster. Thank you for watching as always
Start cheap, then upgrade if you need it. You'll get your money's worth with the Naturehike; and if it's not enough tent for you, you can still spend 700 notes on the Hilleberg.
Hilleberg is a lovely bit of kit though!
That's great advice. I wouldn't spend huge amount any gear when just starting out.
Cracking video Paul, I love my soulo, I always feel secure in it, when up in the mountains, yes expensive, but you get what you pay for 👍
I agree Paul that you do get what you pay for however I still feel the Soulo is getting a little too expensive now. Thank you for watching
My cloud peak arrived a week ago, absolutely awesome tent.
Great video Paul! Would be great to see a video on a full budget/beginners camping set up i.e tent, rucksack, stove etc. Keep up the great content!
An excellent and impartial review Paul I was looking for a tent to start out with. You have help to make my choices easier
Glad you've found it useful Dessie and let me know what tent you opt for in the end.
Awesome video, wish more of these budget v premium backpacking vids were made. Good job Paul.
Thank you for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. There are differences between premium and budget gear and I agree it would be nice to be able to see the difference and what you are getting for the extra money
Fully reviewed. Thanks Paulie boy, keep it up!
Thanks Diego
Great to see a fair comparison. Just starting out so thanks for this. Looking at Lan Shan 2 for summer lightweight camps.
I am really interested in the lanshan 2 myself if you get one please let me know how you find it
Great video Paul. Thanks for that. All the best.
Glad you enjoyed the video rooster
Very informative! It would be good to get an explanation of some of the technical stuff you mention like the meaning of the waterproofing or aluminium rating. Would love to see more gear comparison reviews.
Great comparison/review video. I have the Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 and have been very pleased with it so far. You can see why the Hilleberg is more robust but it is also very expensive. ATB Paul.
Great video Paul. Great comparison and great information about the tent pegs. 👍
Glad you found this one helpful Robert
I love my Hilleberg soulo, I've spent time in the Cairngorms through winter in this tent and hardly budged in extreme winds. Didn't get much sleep due to the noise of the wind though 🙁
not getting much sleep in a storm is part of the fun though
Thank you for uploading this video. Very helpful.
Glad you found it useful Andrew
Brilliant, looking forward to this, thanks for reviewing.
Hope you like it
Yes really thorough review thanks most useful. Definitely get what you pay for but at £700 it could be pushing it somewhat! That said like you say it’s the pro option and will no doubt stand the test of time. Not sure I’d want to leave it for too long though at that price so maybe not the best for camp sites.
Thanks again, Paul
That's my worry too at campsites. You wouldn't leave your mountain bike unchained. Maybe I need to develop a tent security system 😂
Sounds good never thought of that one! Sounds like the patent office calling!
You would like to think most people who enjoy the outdoors / camping are pretty honest decent folk though but has crossed my mind when leaving my own tent camping gear etc when out during the day. That said if you end up worrying about it too much it can take the fun out of it. Suppose the bonus with the wild camps is it stays with you!
All the best, Paul
Great video Paul, the devil is in the detail and you explained the small differences very clearly and the reasons why they would matter, many thanks for a good and honest comparison.
Thanks Tim. I'm glad you found be useful and the differences were highlighted adequately to give people information they need to make the correct choice when buying a new tent
I was thinking of getting a footprint for my Suolo until I saw this video. So I won’t get one for now. 😁 Nice videos Paul! 👍🏼
Also, a full gear setup recommendation would be awesome for different budget tiers! Eg a tent, bag, and equipment for budget, medium and premium budgets
Budget tent coming up soon
Another excellent video Paul. I think a very fair comparison of two tents which look similar but are fundamentally different. I’ve had my Soulo for almost 4 years now and it’s and incredible thing. I’ve been out in some truly awful weather on summits and known that it won’t let me down. And yes, the weather can get that bad in the U.K. such a shame that the prices have shot up so much,I think I paid a similar amount to you but the quality is unsurpassed, they hold their value extremely well and will easily last ten years so I have no regrets.
Nice one Paul , as you say the naturehike a great tent for starting out wild camping but not to be relied upon when on summits in high winds . And yes Hilleberg certainly know how to charge but they do deliver a tent you feel safe in . I really like the soulo but will keep my akto for the wilder weather . thanks again Dave.
The Akto is spot on Dave. I had one myself and it performs similar to the Soulo. There's probably even a little more room in the Akto. Thanks for watching
Hi Paul, I'm pleased to see you doing this series so many thanks. You make most of the comparison points easy to understand but I suspect that newbies (like me!) will be drawn to these posts, so a short video explaining the technical jargon would be helpful. Examples are:
1. What does 7001 aluminium mean and is it any good/what's better than it?
2. DWR?
3. Dyneema? Significance of diameter.
4. Peg choices - carbon core?
5. 1200 Curlon? 20/30/70 denier? Triple silicon? Hydrostatic head? Waterproof rating of 15000mm HH?
...you get the idea :-). Great summary by the way - very useful and fair.
Great point there. I'll try and answer this in my next video
I like your video, thanks for that. I have slept countless nights in all kind of light weight tents, and own since a half year or so now a Hilleberg Unna, which is comparable to the Soulo. In my opinion, Hilleberg is the absolute top, the very best tents I have ever been aware of.
The quality and strength of the Hilleberg tents our superb. This can make them a little heavy for use in milder weather.
You´re right. But I personally prefer to use just one tent for all situations, one that you can always rely on, no matter what.
I have the nature hike and the staika and I totally agree with everything you've said. As for hilliebergs being overkill in the British mountains as some people have mentioned I don't agree, I've been in some terrible winter storms and you never question how much you've paid for the tent then.
Spot on Will. Last place I'd want to be in 60 MPH gusts is in a Vango Banshee or a Naturehike. They just aren't made for it. I camp in all seasons and all weathers. For me, it gives peace of mind. I know I can trust it will stand up. Thanks for watching.
@@PaulMessner On the west coast of Ireland with a Vango blade 100, 60 mph winds thought it was a proper tent for a 135, I thought wrong.
Excellent as always Paul
You should do more comparisons with tents and test all the brands .
I suppose you pay for resistance weight quality user ability .
Paul you definitely pick some magical places to camp .
Recent subscriber. Just wanted to say how much your videos inspired me to get out. Thank you.
Also, if one crops up try and review the Kuiu storm star 2. Recently purchased it and can't find anything anywhere about it.
Keep up the excellent work mate 🙂
A decent 2 man tent is the bowland 2, I've put it up in strong winds and rain and been quite comfortable. Affordable but a bit heavy for some at like 2.3kg.
Hope this helps
Thank you 👍
Nice one. Great vid, Paul
I wonder how many people go out and but Hilleberg thinking they are the next Polar explorer and use it once in their back garden!
probably countabke on the fingers of one hand, you need to be seriously rich and insane to do that
@@pluggothesluggo5509 judging by the amount of Hillebergs being sold on eBay etc "only used once" I'd say quite a lotn
@@northernswedenstories1028 I think you are right. The amount of Black Label Hillebergs which actually goes to Antarctica or Tibet are probably less than 5%. #staika on Instagram is a laugh.. Japanese hipsters camping!
Nice one Paul cracking vid going to start next year and your vids are brilliant thanks alot
Brilliant video Paul. I really like cheap vs expensive comparison videos like this. It makes you see what the extra dent in your wallet pays for
Thank you Paul. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos
Great review, thanks Paul
Hilleberg is ridiciously expensive. But also amazing quality. I have slept in a Hilleberg from mid-70s and it was still silly good tent.
Nice review Paul. I've got the Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 for the occasional wildcamps and on campsites in the calmer months. Haven't tried it out yet, but I'm sure it'll be fine for this purpose. I'm '6.3" and also needed a roomy tent on a budget that I could sit up in.
atb.......Andy.
Naturehike cloud peak 2 the great choice for the occasional wildcamper. I'm sure you'll enjoy using it
Good comparison film. Always wonderd why Naturehike dont do a single person version, but no doubt Hilleberg will be knocking at there door possibly. My favourite 4 season tent so far is the MSR Access 2 and fantastic as a 2 person yet light enough for 1 person use as well. Used it in bad weather and snow in Scotland and works great. The more people getting into the wildcamping the prices have just rocketed, not just for tents but all gear. Atb
I believe the hillebergs were half the price five or six years ago. The popularity of this hobby has gone through the roof, resulting in higher prices for most gear. The MSR Access looks a fab bit of kit. Can't justify another tent though . Thanks for watching as usual 😂
The nature hike to me is a 3 season tent I would use it in spring summer and autumn but the hiliberg is too expensive but yes I agree it’s bomb proof in winter really good advice I would recommend the nature hike but I would not recommend the hilliberge because of its price in the uk it would be over kill great video Paul 👍😎
Terra Nova is my personal choice, I've had their Solo1 for well over ten years now and it only gets used in January, February in the Brecon Beacons and Dartmoor, never let me down in all weather's and is not ridiculously priced 👌
I have a Terra Nova photon 1. I love it. It's what I use on longer hikes
@@PaulMessner Nice, they do make exceedingly good tents.
I recently started using a MSR Hubba Bubba NX, for the money it's decent quality and still less than half the price of the Soulo. Not sure if it's old age, but not that interested in wet winter wild camps that much anymore. Would still like a Soulo though. Great content once again Paul. ATB Gary
The MSR tents are great and the space inside is awesome. I have heard of their poles giving way in very strong winds though. But I have not experienced this myself but would like to try one and see how I got on with it to give a fair assessment. Thank you for watching
@@PaulMessner I use a Wild Country Helm 2 in the winter. It's never let me down, and the value for money it represents takes some beating.
@@PaulMessner I had a pole crack on my Hubba Hubba, not even in strong wind or bad weather, just a defect. Contacted elite mountain supplies where I got it from and had a replacement delivered two days later foc. Apart from that I love the Hubba Hubba
good review & comparison, straight to the point, no wasted yakking.....good one !
Glad you liked it Matt
The quality of cheap(er) tents these days is amazing. I may pick up a more premium one, somewhere in the future. I’m totally happy with what I’ve got at the moment , I’m only fair weather for now. The Hilleberg is very nice though and the top end manufacturers, are really innovative these days.
The sewing and workmanship on the Naturehike is excellent. It's only the cheaper materials that fall short in tough conditions. For the most part they do a great job.
For £765(retail), I would hope the Hilleberg was the superior product(for a Hilleberg 2man your'e talking well over £800) I know you are aware of that Paul, just saying. I must say I was expecting you to be biased towards the Hilleberg, pleasantly surprised you didnt do that........hats off to you mate for your honesty, as you said the price of Hillebergs is extortionate.........👍👌
Hi Stu. Obviously I feel the Hilleberg is a better tent, for the nature hike is still good value for money and would be a perfect tent for the everyday wildcamper.
Very helpful thanks Paul
Thank you Christopher I'm glad that you enjoyed the video and found it useful
I don't even go camping but strangely I loved watching this video lol
Great vid mate👍
Great review Paul, have my heart set on a red Soulo.
They are great tents Hardy. A bit overpriced but you'll love it once you get it.
Problem is is the Mrs knows how much they cost after watching your vid mate!!!
Oops sorry 😂
@@HardyTempestsWildCampsandWalks Lol, tell her it's your version of her shoes, bags, clothes and makeup!! 🤣
nice one Paul.. a very even review. i think the materials are what usually stand out on the chinese made tents.. they're pretty good facsimiles it's just let down by crappy material (never mind the colours!) though the stitching to be fair is pretty good. i'd definitely be wrapping those upper tie-outs on the naturehike around the pole for extra security.
I agree Rigby. The actual manufacturing and sewing it's very good. What's the materials are not as robust and although the nature hike is marketed as a four season tent, in my opinion it really is not
Nature hike it is then 😳 cheers paul
Glad you found it helpful
Great video as always 👍
That was a pretty fair comparison. It horse for courses really. I've seen naturehike stuff a lot on eBay and Amazon lately and I was wondering what it was like. Providing you're not going into too crazy enviroments it would probably be fine.
Great video! Thank you
I have the Solo since 11 years right now, and was one of the first customers who bought it in Germany, when it was offered to the market in spring 2008.
I have done several multiple weeks long adventure trips in Iceland with this little bugger ( mostly in the desert Highlands of Iceland ) and it handled all conditions ( storms up to 70miles/h ); I got all my gear and a 110l Gregory Denali Pro Monster backpack in it. It is not light weight, that's for sure. But it is the most bomb proof 1 person bunker I know. BUT JUST BUY YOU SOME DECENT STACKS ( I use Titanium nail sticks for very hard and rocky ground and short 16cm long sand/snow pegs for Gras and sand conditions.
If the weather would be as worse, so the Soulo would let you down........it doesn't matter anymore, cause you will be dead anyway 😉!
WORLD BEST BAD WEATHER 1P TENT ON THE WORLD MARKET.............PERIODE !
It's a fabulous tent. I would trust it to cope with any trip within the UK.
Great video Pauly
Thank you Leonardo
I love how some people knock the Hillebergs based on price ! If you buy the best you buy once is my take . I don’t own a Hilleberg but they are the best . Although it’s a subjective subject. If you had to pick one tent for ever to cover the essential of staying warm , dry , safe in a pinch . I’ve 4 tents and still counting 😂😂
Excellent review mate 👍
Top class review very helpful, great advice 👍
Thanks for watching mate and taking time to comment.
Something a little different in my new video if you're interested. A bit of woodland camping.
czcams.com/video/cFkKjNkJmLQ/video.html
Good vid mate, I'm hilleberg through and through.... 😁🤘
Hi Steve. I could only keep one of my tents, it would be the Hilleberg everytime
@@PaulMessner class bits of kit Paul, becoming very expensive though... ☹
Ever seen the OEX RAKOON 2 paul as I've never seen a preview on it and I'm well impressed with it ( a 2 man tent ) 👍
They look sturdy for the money. Thanks for watching
Interesting video. Thanks for the info.
Glad you found it useful Marco
@@PaulMessner 750 pounds ? X_X Even 150 pounds omg....come on ...no tent on this planet is worth 750 pounds for 1 or two people. How about a review of one of these cheap automatic tents ? www.amazon.co.uk/Night-Cat-Backpacking-Automatic-Waterproof/dp/B072LDVCYD
good comparison, i think its good for people to see this, i know a lot of people think if its the same shape and looks similar in a photo that its the same thing. imagine getting caught out on a storm on a mountain with your faith in a hilleberg shaped tent that is essentially a copy. They have their place though but its good to let people actually see the difference.
Spot on Martin. Each tent has it's merits but you can't just buy anything and pitch it on a mountain and expect it to perform. Thanks for watching.
Hi Paul, Would love to see you do a comparison of the Hillerberg Soulo and Akto tents pros/cons with both. I have been watching your videos and I'm super keen on the Akto.... TBH its because its the lightest and cheapest. But I would love to see you do the comparison as I might change my mind and get a Soulo.
I will be in the US in a couple of months and will pick either one up whilst Im there....... since you have been using them both, would love to see you do a comparison of the two
Hi Paul. Another great video👆🏽😊
Hilleberg tents are the ‘business’.
I got 3 North Face Tents: Mountain 25; VE 25 and the Tadpole. The first two are 4 season expedition tests and the Tadpole is 3 season.
I am happy with the Mountain 25 and the 3 man VE25. Absolute bombproof. I use them in the Highlands in all weathers.
Regards the Hilleberg tents, hoping one day to buy the Satarius. But it’ £1900😅Will have to save up!
Also I heard that Slingfin tents are the best expedition tents out there-even better than Hilleberg apparently.
I had a look and they look good. Well over the £1000k mark for the good ones. The guy who set up the company used to be the designer at North Face apparently. You can tell😀
like the video just purchased a scorpion 3 what do you think of them thanks.
My Vango soul 200 tent cost me £40 brand new, I've used it loads of times for 4 years and not a thing wrong with it, been in heavy rain and it remains waterproof, it does exactly what I wanted it to do, £40 quid folks!, my whole set up cost about £150, that's sleeping mat, sleeping bag, tent, backpack, stove and headtorch and I can have excactly the same experience with my gear than if I spent a lot more, it all does what I want it to do , and for me the real star of the show is the natural world
Superb value for money there Steven. If it works for you then I can't fault it. Have you used on any of the summits. I'd be interested to see how the fiberglass poles performed in strong wind. Normally they are notorious for easily snapping. Thanks for watching
@@PaulMessner I live in n.devon so most of the places I go are low elevation, I did camp at the highest spot on Dartmoor and Devon I think, which was 600 meters above sea level it was very windy up there but pitched behind some big stones of the tor , the poles survived, yes I don't think I would take my tent to any of the summits that are a lot higher tho, so if your going up there I guess you would need a better quality tent, I'm lucky living here with temperatures also as it rarely gets below zero here in winter, thanks for your reply
I need to get down to Dartmoor. It looks fabulous. Good to see you using shelter from rocks etc. If you know the limitations of your gear as you clearly do, it's best to take precautions to limit exposure to the elements. I would do the same with all of my tents bar the Soulo. The Soul looks a pretty good design. I like the front entry with a vestibule area for wet boots etc. Yes it's overpriced but will handle all UK conditions.
@@PaulMessner to be fair when I first bought all the gear I was going to get a more expensive tent and other stuff, but my son wanted to come, so I ended up buying 2 of everything and so had to get cheaper, the good thing is now my son hardly ever comes camping I have spare for when my gear eventually breaks
I have the same tent! Ive only used it a few times, one wild camp. But seems to be absolutely brilliant for the price so far.
Great comparison. However, the quality shines out in the Hilleberg. Personally, I would save up and get the Hilleberg. It will last a lifetime and much warmer too.
Another flawless vid Paul!
Cheers Lennon
Excellent video. Great comparison.
Thanks Peter
430 in the morning and I should be asleep but I’m watching a video on compassions on different types of tent and I’m not even into camping 😂
Well its either tents or films about Hitler.
same!!
awesome choice for a comparison 👏
Great review Mez..that Hillaberg looks an awesome tent...
Good honest comparison...atb Lee
I'd be tempted on the Nature hike to pass the poles through the guy line holders and attach guy lines to poles above that. This could be done easily by placing a loop in the end of the guyline and passing other end through it. This would beef up the stability and strength.
It always makes me smile when tents have velcro on the outside zip, how would you use that from inside lol
You open the zip first
Thank for a really good video!! I love your videos and makes me wander travel to the midland. I was wondering why you change from the Akto to the soulo??
Sorry lake lands
Much of the business of buying tents for me is having FULL CONFIDENCE in my gear. This is why I still run an old external frame Haglöfs rucksack (still only 2kg mind) and a Hilleberg tunnel tent for me and the girlfriend. If I'm out on my own I take a trailstar, and if we are only going on a Weekender trip to nowhere with harsh weather possibilities then we will just take a luxe hexpeak. The Hilleberg is worth the money if you are the sort of person who actually pushes the limits of your gear. Otherwise you may as well get an Ali express option. In my experience the weak points in many tents is their seam construction, of which Hillebergs is exceptional. Strong zippers too
An excellent and thorough review Paul. You've hit the nail on the head, yes the Hille is overpriced, but if you camp in all seasons in all weathers, then it's the obvious choice.
Have you got any experience of the Lanshan? Kev has picked one up, looks similar to either the MLD solomid or the SMD Lunar Solo.
Cheers
Robin
I want to try the Lanshan, Robin. I will pick one up hopefully and test it out. Thanks for watching.
@@PaulMessner no probs chief. 👍🏼
I have the Lanshan 2 with the 4 season inner. Excellent tent. Used in the Cumbrian Way and a couple of wet camps.
Need to look into this tent.
Hello I found your video very useful. I went and bought the naturehike cloud 2 and used it a number of times but found if my sleeping bag touched the inner fabric even when not raining it would be soaked through in the morning. Did you find similar things happened to you? Many thanks Paul Denne.
nice video, I love My Hileberg It is the most secure tent I have ever had and I can pitch the tent in 8- 10 min, even in really bad whether. I think that if you should compere the Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 to a hileberg it should be the Hileberg Allak 2. I have the Hileberg Staika and the Hileberg Soulo.
the soulo is my dream tent, but 750 squid is way beyond my means, I recently bought the Lanshan 2, I'm hoping to try it out and seal everything at the weekend, excellent comparison Paul thanks for taking the time to show us the differences, now if I could sell a kidney, maybe just maybe i could buy the soulo lol ATB Kaizer

Awesome video
Thank you for watching I am glad that you enjoyed the video
Good job Paul. Both cracking tents. BTW ..I have the other colored cloud peak. Which is described by Naturehike as Magenta.. But in the flesh it is definitely blue.. Not purple.. Recently acquired a used Hilleburg Tarra at a price I could not refuse.. To heavy for back packing unless shared. But cracking bullet proof shelter.. Another worthy mention at a budget is the Robens kestrel 2 ...199 euros from amazon.de great 3 season tent...Very similar to the cloud peak..
I've seen the robens. it looks a lovely tent. Robens are sturdier in my opinion than the naturehike tents.
Like the way you've been fair in this video. some peeps could never pay £765 - just looked online! - for a tent , but there are cheaper options around that are very good, just wondered if you're going to try some MSR tents pls? great vid
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. I'm sure at some point I will get hold of an MSR tent to try out and show you how I get on with it
you can get a very good small tent well under 100pound .berghause peak 3,1 .a used 1 for 3days lakes.got battered and never stopped raining .and its still as new as then .🏕🏕
Paul, would be interested to know how you’d compare a Hilleberg Soulo to a KUIU Storm Star and which one would you prefer. Thanks.
KUIU is outsourced and fine but can’t beat Hilleberg designs, quality and functionality.
Good film Paul. Some camping equipment is far too expensive as most people camp in the better weather.
A man with 2 or 3 kids and a car that needs 4 tyres to pass the net MOT doesn't have a lot of disposable income!
Therefore comparisons of expensive and budget gear are important.
Another great video Paul. But I want know what each tent can stand wind wise. I would not buy the hillberg at the price it's at but the nature hike tent looks good enough to me. I had a mamot grid tent in 100mph winds few years back when they had record braking wind over winter was ok found some good wind shelter. I would not use a hilberg on a expedition lol unless that gave me one. Thanks Richard
The marmot tents are supposed to be awesome. I would like to see both of the tents in high winds but wouldn't want to be in the Naturehike at the time
@@PaulMessner I agree if you want to camp in a exposed area or on top of a mountain but even then alot time you can find some wind protection. I used the marmot grid in the time UK was covered in snow up near scarfell pike as well it's a good cheap 4 season and tent. On a trip to Iceland I did the The Laugavegur Trek one night I camped next to hut and the wardens warned me about a serious storm I was a bit concerned as I don't know what serious storm in Iceland would be like it was just after summer thent seem to be holding up ok but wardens come out in the night tell everybody to get in the hut and it felt like the hut was going blow away my tent survived thought :) .I don't think the marmot grid it's in production any more. I only just this week camped on Ben Nevis funny enough with the Vango F10 but I did check the weather report before handI found that the F10 that can handle up 30mph I say which good for a cheap light weight tent. Thanks Richard
For more than the price of the cheaper tent you can get the mesh inner for the Hilleberg, making it a summer tent
Decathlon budget tents for the win.
Thanks for sharing :-) the Hillerberg does look awfy nice though.
It's a great tent but a little too expensive nowadays
@@PaulMessner Yeah around the £500 quid mark is steep but bearable for such great quality...but now they are around £1000 it's getting silly.
Great videos by the way :)
I contacted Naturehike and asked why the tent isn't available. They told me that they stopped the production of the peak 2. Luckily it showed up on Amazon today and I was able to order one. :)
