  • This guitar is fantastic - it ticks every box in its design and concept.
The finish is nice, the neck's nice, everything's nice. The tuning and intonation are very very good for a guitar with such a short scale, and it tips the scales at a whopping 1130g (2lbs 8oz).
I'm doing a charity walk in a couple of weeks' time, and I need a guitar with me. This is a game changer and also very very cheap, at £80. It has a preamp in it, and comes with a lightweight case.

Good to see you back here. Yes, HB are great. I bought a Gibson 335 clone a few years ago and it's stupid value for money.

Cool guitar! Would love to see more home recording tutorials in the future 😎

Looks neat. I’ve been considering a parlour guitar for its small size. This E Steel …I assume it’s a laminated top? What’s the intonation and action like? Thanks for the overview.

It's an 80 quid guitar. Don't expect a Martin or a Gibson. Just buy it and enjoy!

Well, I didn’t compare it to or mention an expensive make of guitar. I have no idea why you projected that onto me from my comment … and note, it is possible to get a solid top guitar at a low price range. Action and intonation are basic requirements to me and why I returned a tenor ukulele to Thomann a while back. I certainly don’t buy anything coz someone tells me too coz it’s ‘only’ £80. I hope you have fun with your purchase though.

@@rayjayvids I haven't bought it and didn't say I had, so "I have no idea why you projected that onto me from my comment "

@@henryb160 Hey! Communication blips eh … I assumed you were gonna buy one coz of your statement just buy it etc. You did come across as a tad condescending. My enquiry was genuine. The quality control at Thomann (and many other distributors) ain’t too hot and to me 80 quid isn’t peanuts. Unfortunately, cheaper guitars are often seen as unworthy of being set up! I feel sorry for the kids who may buy such an instrument only to give up because it’s difficult to play and out of tune as they venture up the neck. I hope Dan sees this and adds a response!

I actually bought three of these- one for me and three for my friends. I did not like it as the action was high and also the intonation was way off. I ended up buying Washburn Rover..the nylon version.

The Washburn stuff is good. I guess with mass-produced cheaper guitars, the variation in quality may indeed be wider…
