DKT can be killed via being drained to a point he has no blood left/ letting him weaken his regeneration so hes not completely immortal and sun breathing which non of them know would also be effective

What i want to know is 2 things: 1. Can you use breathing techniques with anything other than a nichirin weapon. And 2. How the hell did they find out that nichirin stuff was the only way to kill a demon?
1) Yes. Zenitsu used it to play an instrument, Tanjiro's dad used it with an axe, Tanjiro used it to throw his sword, and someone has already used it in their punches.
2) Sun is the only thing that can kill a demon. Someone probably noticed that Scarlet Ore absorbs sunlight, and figured it was worth a try.
