Aw I’m sorry. I tried not showing anything upsetting, but I know the concept is not for everyone. It’s a lost skill that we are trying learn. Thank you for your support and kindness
Thank you for sharing! I really love how you used all parts of the chicken for various items. Would you say that you came out cheaper this way as far as meat cost? Considering the price of feed/water/electricity for the heater? Sorry if I missed this. This has always been so fascinating to me!
Thanks for your interest! No we finished out at around $4.50/lb, organic chicken is over $5/lb though… You can buy it cheaper but our meat isn’t pumped full of “stuff”… I agree, it is fascinating. My husband just said “order them now, enough learning and talking about it, let’s do it!” And that we did. We plan to make it cheaper and easier next time 😉
We did pull some grass and put it in their pen also gave them scraps every now and then. But with it being winter, there wasn’t much to forage and it was simply too cold for them to be loose.
thanks for sharing

No worries. The lost skill and the willingness to learn more are the parts that I appreciate! You're awesome in my book, always.

Did you let the chickens rest in the fridge after gutting them and before putting in the freezer?
I want to say yes… They rested chilled in the coolers for about 12 hours. Then we cut them up bagged and froze them. Newbie here 😉
why dont you feed them grass
