I lean towards being an Xbox fan, but have always eventually ended up with both consoles, and enjoy playing the games on both consoles. However seeing fanboys get riled up because currently PS is taking some L's is pure gold.

I just started Alien Isolation again due to FPS boost. I still have it on my hd from the disc I own, so now it’s on gamepass it’s great that I could play it without even putting my disc in. Just amazing. Sadly though in the set up menu I chose to turn off the kinect head tracking and the kinect room sound analyser. It made me think about how good kinect could have been. It was potentially great tech but wasn’t really put to good use. Moving your head in the lockers was next gen at the time. RIP kinect.

What is Jez talking about? Why do people like him get so defensive when it comes to someone talking about gamepass profits? Of course Gamepass makes money, it has 20 million subs. There is a difference between REVENUE and PROFIT. There is a difference. He literally contradicts himself one sentence later. Also, Aaron Greenberg has literally admitted gamepss doesn't make a profit. End of discussion.

Gamepass profitability and sustainability is an important discussion to have since we are all now so interested in the business side of games.
For services like Netflix to determine what shows get renewed and which get canceled, they rely on some internal data metrics. These will inevitably determine which games get published or produced on Gamepass to keep subscribers growing seeing as Gamepass is so cheap. Microsoft is still in the investment phase but once the ball gets rolling it will be important for Gamepass to be profitable for AAA games to continue production as is. Otherwise only indies and the current Activision model of COD will persist
Looks like you're not going to answer so I'll answer for you. It was last summer and Game Pass has added millions of subs since. And he didn't say it didn't make a profit, he said it made very little profit. So yes, he literally admitted GP makes a profit. End of discussion.

Big Props to Rand and Jez, I too couldn't careless about the childish console war. It's all about the games and what makes my favorite hobby so awesome. I only own one console which is the Xbox Series X, but these days I never feel I have to trash the competition to somehow validate my purchase enjoy what you enjoy and be happy

Can we not have fantasy/dragon/powers style games in other time periods - not just medievalish? Ive been watching Shadow and Bone recently on Netflix and I like how they have the fantasy with the special abilities of some characters against a kind of Victorian era setting we don’t get to see often. Something early modern.

@@Danny_On_Wheels44 my hope is that it’s markedly different from past entries. My biggest issue with 343i is they’ve never made a 343i Halo game. Always tried to make. Bungee style Halo games with no risk and they’ve been noticeably not as good. Hopefully with all this and the open world and all that they’ve decided to make the Halo game they’ve dreamed of.

I've recently been playing Octopath Traveler, believe me, its not a consolation compared to FF7. Yes FF7 has the graphics, but Octopath gameplay is amazing.

Because no game is (to me). Value is a matter of perception. I perceive the $70 price point (nearly $100 in Europe and Australia) as ludicrous. I will never buy any game for that price. You may feel differently, and that's fine, but expect to find yourself in the minority.
@@professorsolo6484 I can understand what he is saying, finishing the game twice isn't an indication of how much it is worth. Because then you get into the dangerous game of using "Time spent" as an indicator of how much the game is worth.
I don't want to hate on Returnal, but if Forbidden West comes out in the next 12 months, and it is just as good or better then it's predecessor, can you honestly tell me you would say that Returnal and Horizon are worth the same money?

The game looks good and plays nice, but is also niche, lacks in areas such as story and has had a few launch issues.
Compare it too Resident Evil 8 which is $10USD cheaper. I can see why the question is asked, and where Rands point is coming from.

As someone who loves Gears, I'm super excited to see them try a brand new game. As someone who thinks Halo is trash. I hope that 343 gets to try something else as well.

They were created by a bunch of Devs that wanted to make Halo, I dare say if Infinite wraps up the Halo Universe, and 343 doesn't want to make another Halo, they will move on, but if when Infinite is done and dusted, they wanna make another Halo, I see them pushing to do more Halo.

Halo Infinite needs to be like a 9 out of 10. With it being delayed the bar is even higher. They need some exclusives this year not late 2022 or something. Halo is for fans of that franchise not critics IMO.

I admit, as a 10 year old, I was all about defending Nintendo but, it didn't take that long to grow out of it esp. when life got more interesting.
TL;DR - Despite leftover remnants, I am mostly console agnostic and we should just enjoy & share our collective love of this fantastic hobby and leave the trash outside. Life's too short, esp. w goddammit pandemics and all the other crazy going on in the real world.
Honestly, somewhere, deep down, in an undeveloped, primitive area, there are unresolved feelings about the whole deal between Sony and Nintendo, which, at the time, felt like a betrayal, despite logically knowing that Sony just took a business opportunity that presented itself. But, it never was something that really ever mattered after getting over my old console warrior self.

On the cross play thing: If Epic is paying Sony for it, why is there cross play on MLB? A sony game.
PlayStation was forced to make it multi platform to keep the MLB ip. PlayStation wouldn’t pay themselves for crossplay though.

Microsoft needs to buy square Enix, and make every game exclusive. They should pull every one of their games from Playstation and give Sony a taste of their own medicine.
Hmm... I wonder why returnal looks good. Could it be theat they made it so damn dark on purpose? Everything looks at least decent when you can’t see any of the edges of textures. Honestly, a game that dark would put me to sleep.
To be clear... there are sections that aren’t so dark. But when you don’t have to clear up every space of a game, yeah you can make those sections look great. It’s no better than the first reaper cutscene in the original mass effect. And while one is a cutscene, and the other is gameplay, that graphical fidelity should still stand out this much later.

Halo infinite doesn’t have to be the greatest game of all time...but it has to be the greatest halo game of all time. It needs to deliver. Just great isn’t good enough for halo infinite.
xbox is killing it this GEN just look at Mass Effect Legendary Edition runs at 120fps on Xbox Series X but 60fps on PS5, PS5 can't handle the heat, already showing it's under powered
EDIT:it was pointed out to me from Stephen Davis that Mass Effect is running in BC mode on the XSX and PS5 and my above comment is misinformed
You can't really use ME as an indication of how powerful either system is. ME runs in backwards compatible mode, it just so happens that Microsoft has done far more work in that aspect compared to Sony.
The games sees the Series X as a more powerful Xbox One X, it can use all of the power but can't use series features like ray tracing. It sees the PS5 as a more powerful PS4 Pro, it can use some of the extra power, but not all of it.

It's impossible to truly calculate how much revenue Game Pass is ultimately responsible for because of the secondary impact it has. For example, you can take John Q. Gamer who was undecided between Xbox and Playstation but ultimately had Game Pass be the deciding factor in choosing an Xbox. From that moment forward, every single dollar he spends on games, DLC, and even movies is 100% revenue that Game Pass is responsible for. So counting the subscription dollars only tells part of the story when it comes to the people who bought an Xbox specifically because Game Pass was the convincing argument. (This is also why "The Netflix of games" isn't an accurate comparison). If said John Q. Gamer spends 15 dollars one month for a sub and then 120 dollars on other stuff on the store, Game Pass made 135 dollars off him that month.
(And I say it's impossible to calculate because Microsoft would have to ask every single Xbox user if Game Pass was the deal-maker for them, which isn't feasible.)
I know Jade Raymond, now with Playstation, set a precedent to play as Al-Qaeda (probably how she got hired by Stadia, to not make a game), but when do we get to play as a Crusader ? Kingdom Come: Deliverance crossed the 3 Million sold, threshold, in 2020. Bill Gates (now single) and Rock Star have enough FU (mainstream femia) money to make a game set during the Crusades - where you don’t have to play as an Al-Qaeda assassin.
Man I was hyped for Returnal, then I learned it was a roguelike and all interest was instantly killed off. Glad people like it but I personally despise the genre.

Microsoft first mistake was to open a ps2 so that they could build the first xbox, they had a fucking awesome platform called P.C but completely went downside with their fucking awful and ugly console with no nice game to play. Apart for the gamepass there's no advantage of buying an xbox . The series X was advertise as the most powerful console ever made with 12 tetra compared to the ps5 with 8 tetra just to see major third party games run better on the PS5. I'm not even an xbox hater but business wise they failed a long time ago

Xbox Two is always live. This is simply a VoD uploaded so people can listen, instead of complaining, you could have also simply looked at the pinned comment for timestamps.
BOTW is great but ultimately failed to fulfil many of its promises.
I think the downside is there’s other games that do what BOTW wants to do better than how BOTW does it.
And the things they wanted to do but left out (crafting mechanic) are conspicuous by their absence.
The story is completely meh.
That being said it’s highly ambitious, Nintendo wanted to make the greatest game ever with BOTW and that’s admirable.
Story isn't everything in a game, especially in a sandbox. There's not a single open world game that comes close to BOTW world interactivity, gameplay depth other than Elder Scrolls & Red dead redemption

Don’t get me wrong I was always gonna play it for the visuals and realism but it was so clunky I could have lived with it being a onrails QTE game. Still not quite finished it as it makes me feel sick thinking about how slow it is.
@@-Grifter There are way clunkier games I played with abysmal controls like Witcher 3 , RDR2 was slow especially the horse riding segments in every quest, but the an entire ecosystem that's built inside that game & random encounters are beyond phenomenal
