Vision From God Could Lead to History-Shattering Mass Baptism

- The pastor behind a historic mass baptism last year is now setting his sights on what could once again break records and lead hundreds - if not thousands of people - to the Lord. Pastor Mark Francey of Oceans Church in California shocked the nation last year when he hosted Baptize SoCal, an event that attracted thousands of spectators and led to nearly 4,200 baptisms. At the time, it was reportedly the largest recorded baptism in U.S. history.
One year later, Francey is gearing up for an even larger effort: Baptize California, a state-wide initiative that could shatter other historical markers to become the "world's largest synchronized baptism." Francey told CBN News his baptism efforts started with a vision from God. His church was just three years old when he embarked on the ambitious Baptize SoCal event, and, at the time, he wasn't looking to launch into such an endeavor.
"I'm originally from California, but [had] spent the last 17 years in a different state, so moving here, starting a brand new church, treading ... water after COVID - the last thing on our mind was uniting ... this global baptism initiative," Francey said. But after he read a book that talked about one of the largest water baptisms in American history held at Pirate's Cove in California, he was surprised to learn the mass immersion took place in the 1990s.
Francey said he assumed it would have been much earlier. He was also intrigued by the fact it took place at the very same location where the late Chuck Smith baptized masses of young people 50 years ago during the Jesus movement. Pirate's Cove continues to have a profound impact on people’s lives today. All of these themes and ideas coalesced into a vision that changed everything for Francey. "I had almost like an open vision," he said, noting the vivid experience included worship and very specific details. "I saw boats from guys I knew in our church parked along Pirate's Cove."
Francey, who isn't prone to these sorts of images from God, said he told his church about it a few weeks later and people got excited. That's when he felt the Lord pushing him to organize and fund Baptize SoCal. At first, he was reluctant. "I tried to talk God out of it," Francey said. "I'm like, 'There's a lot of other guys here, fathers, mothers here that are doing great things. You know, I'm a nobody.'" The preacher said God wasn't interested in his insecurity. Francey knew he was called to embark on the baptism mission, and he decided to listen. Watch him explain.

Before their baptism, I pray that they repent and receive Jesus not only as their Savior, but Lord over every part of their lives, choosing to deny themselves and obey and follow Him. I pray they will be discipled by these churches. May God our Father baptize them with the Holy Spirit so they can truly surrender and live for Him. I’ll be praying for these baptisms on the 19th🙏🏽
Obviously..baptism of itself is not a standalone saving act. Its a public proclamation of of the repentance and saving grace of Jesus that was accepted and its a symbolism of dying and rising into spiritual life.
Me too. I see the Spirit moving even in 1 of my 4 sons who all walked away. God is doing something, and like you I pray that it is real and lasting like the seed planted in good soil. God moves, people respond, and I know it can look different at the onset in individuals. But fruit, lasting fruit is the key!!!
The Holy Spirit can do in seconds what takes 'talking' a lot longer! HE knows HOW to do what HE has always done!..& is always 'looking'..'calling'..'working toward' the salvation of 'whosoever will'! I've seen the example of Moses & the children of Israel..& their 'baptism' in the Red Sea..as God was 'saving/delivering' them from 'slavery'!..from Egypt..a type of the world! GOD OWNS THE FORMULA! GOD CHOOSES THE TIME & the person's HE chooses to lead it..& HE is not slack concerning His promises! PTL😊❤ We are 'fishers of men..God CLEANS the fish! Amen?
An additional tho’t..to baptize, is an action that presupposes the ‘WHY’..as..being baptized into His DEATH for OUR sins..& raised to a new life IN Him! This deliberate action..is I think, the 1st of subsequent actions toward maturity..& a continuing process of learning/failing & repentance.. 😊

This is SO uplifting and needed right now. God bless this ministry and may a mighty revival sweep across this nation and the world. All the people saying "I hope these people really accept Jesus," I pray that God renews your minds, heals your hearts, and restores your hope and faith in what He can do. That you believe in how He is moving in the world today. I am living proof. 1.5 years ago I was in the new age following the world, He called me out of the darkness and brought me back to life. I wouldn't question the heart or motive behind an individual's decision to get baptized. But I've never heard so much talk about baptism WITHOUT talk about salvation. I've noticed this lately among self-professed Christians.
I have been noticing this also. Before they baptize people, they need to preach repentance to God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. I am wondering if many of these people believe that you only need baptism to be saved?
This is a move from God. In Baptism, we identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. These people have already received Salvation. They are now telling it to the world through Water Baptism!
Where are those 4000 people now, have they been discipled, connected to a solid Bible preaching church??

That is very true. Just being baptized does not save you. There has to be heartfelt change and true repentance, which means to turn away from sin, too. I know personally. I was baptized as a kid and, because of life issues, I walked away. Now I'm back and have been repenting from my sins and changing with the Holy Spirit's guidance and Jesus' unending love. You aren't supposed to just try to get the biggest baptism ever. I pray he and all those involved are actually truly being led by God. I will also be praying that true change and repentance is the focus of ALL of these getting baptized and that they WILL NOT WAIVER!!

I hope those that get baptized will understand this. I am happy that this is happening and I hope they are really accepting Jesus Christ as their savior and redeemer. If a sinner is baptized and goes back sinning Nothing was accomplished.
The Apostle Peter also made it clear that baptism is a commandment for all people: “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:38).
Before you are baptized, you show your desire to keep God’s commandments by repenting of things you have done wrong. This may require confessing your sins before you are baptized (see Matthew 3:6) or making up for mistakes where you can.
When you are baptized, you have a chance to start a new life-one dedicated to following Jesus Christ. Your sins are forgiven, and you can rededicate yourself to making choices that lead to happiness. After you are baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, He will help, comfort, and guide you in your efforts.
GOD OWNS 'THE FORMULA'! Hafta remember that the Holy Spirit moves IN OUR SPIRIT. that is where it begins! It transfers very quickly to the SOUL/MIND/HEART/BODY..in the 'new birth'..'being born again' experience! It can immediately 'save'/change a heart & BEGIN a work. Yes, everyone starts as a baby believer & must GROW & mature in the Lord. There have been examples tho, of people making all the confessions..repenting w/tears..& still turn away..BUT!..they will never get away from the memory, & most COME BACK! Repentance comes only through the preaching of the Gospel from God’s Word. Read Nehemiah!! When they heard the reading of God’s Law and how the Jews returned from captivity were weeping over their sin and disobedience. After they repented, God told them it was a time of rejoicing! Please be Biblical and not just experiential based. I do pray it is real conversion and born again to a new creation in Christ🙏🏻💕🙏🏻💕

This is so exciting, but do you KNOW that these people understand about repentance and salvation BEFORE being baptized?? The act of baptism doesn't save someone and provide eternal life! The problem with mass events like this, is that many people may decide to get baptized because everyone else is, and they want to be part of something, because there is a lot of televised / media attention, and they can be a part of that. All we can do is pray that those who decide to get baptized, are actually doing it for the right reason, whom have a true confession of our Lord Jesus Christ, and understands why Jesus died for us, and why we need a Savior.
Do all those who were baptised know exactly what this means? Or are some of them doing it just to be "included" in something. I would like to see some interview footage (if it exists) of some of those freshly baptised people to see if they understand what they just did.

Oh yes I was baptized! Sprinkled as a baby and dunked as an adult. What changed my life was a changed heart about Who Jesus was and What He accomplished through his death and resurrection-ETERNAL life through Him!! If any of the passengers on the United Flight over Shanksville, PA trusted in Christ as the plane was crashing, they are with the Lord today!! Remember the thief on the cross next to Jesus? “Today, you will be with Me in Paradise!” Said Jesus to thief. Only God knows the heart!
A lot of churches do not baptize people after being saved this is a great opportunity for people and I am sure many will come to Jesus because of this stand.

This is not a movement of God by the sound!! Without the proclamation of the Gospel and people trusting in Christ alone there is no grounds for baptism!! People are simply getting wet and being deceived!! Since there is no talk of massive evangelistic services presenting the word of God, one has to assume it’s not happening at these “events”!! How do you know that they aren’t going to preach the gospel first? He was talking about the reason why here so you don’t know if he isn’t going to teach about it first. Stop criticizing.
