I'm glad he wasn't forever traumatized by being sourounded by lots of creepy puppets as a baby.
He dad was a puppeteer and did all the concept art. They used him because te original baby was to frightened by the goblins. So they used Toby, except they had change the name to Toby from Freddie because he wouldn't listen to anything but his name!

I LOVE Labyrinth to this day. I'm 61 yo now and it makes me feel young again. I still don't know what made me search for Toby but I'm so glad I did and finding that all is well with him makes me incredibly happy! Take care Toby and I'm going to look up Dark Crystal and watch it. God Bless, Beckey G

I just watched this movie for the first time and had to google to see if this poor baby was traumatised, but glad to see wasn't at all!
His parents were the puppet masters; they cast him because the first baby they chose screamed his head off at the puppets but Toby was used to them so he was actually too mellow and cheerful. I heard that the only way they could get Toby to cry on cue when they put him in that pit was to tell him it was bedtime so he cried because he was mad; he wanted to stay up and play with the puppets. He also peed on David Bowie twice during the filming. Now Toby is a puppet master.
