In this video I present a walk-through, talk-through demonstration on how I achieve optimum performance from my River Sluice.
From Diverting and Lifting the water, right through to Setting up, testing and adjusting the box to get it running beautifully.
I touch on Specific Gravity & Displacement and how Volume (or Depth of Water), Speed of Water and the Angle of Sluice box directly effect how well it works.
Through this tutorial I also share a few tricks I use to achieve optimum performance.
I mention how to really know if your box is at optimum by observing the first 2 riffles, and some common mistakes as well as some things to avoid.
Time spent setting your Sluice Box correctly is TIME WELL SPENT.

I have a 4' sluice and it's driving me insane. How much drop per foot should I have?
Anagram Confirmed the ‘drop’ as you call it, is referred to as the ‘fall’ and is generally considered to be 1:12, that is to say ... for every 12 inches in length there is a drop of 1 inch... however the optimum ‘fall’ is ALWAYS relative to the speed and depth of water as this video explains... it is all about balancing the ‘3’... it should be noted also that the height and spacing of the riffles will determine where that balance is found.
