Hard 808s might sound good with earphones but in a car it might be too harsh and hurt the ears, sometimes pop the speaker so what the producer did was clean the 808 so it can sound smooth for every device

Go check out moneybagg yo, young dolph, lil baby, nav, future, pooh shiesty, gucci mane, gunna all of the 808s are mixed loud and all the other elements (vocals, instruments) still sound GOOD.. you can achieve an amazing mix with loud 808s you just need to know how to gain stage and use plugins properly in the MIX and MASTERING stage.... Now if the 808 is toooo loud distorting the vocals I don't like THAT.. but that rarely happens with pro engineers lol..
