    Okay, this is definitely the best use of the nocticron on youtube, and possibly the best showcase of the GH5's potential. Deserves way more views. Focusing is insanely sharp, and you couldn't pick a better color palette or actor. You've inspired me to shoot more with this setup.

    Stunning film. Really beautiful shots, amazing image quality. Did you record internally? Any advantages now after the firmware update of recording through the Inferno?

    • @earthAP
      @earthAP  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks Mark! Yes, recorded internally. I have no experience with the Inferno. The small form factor is such a huge advantage in my eyes, an external recorder would make it bigger and more cumbersome, and the quality is already so good when recording in camera (at least for my needs)

    • @earthAP
      @earthAP  Před 6 lety +1

      Thank you :) Picture profile was Cinelike D, haven't touched any of the other settings, all set to default (0). Have to experiment with these, but Cinelike D already produces a very good image out of the box. Only in FullHD 120fps I saw some Moire/Oversharpening kind of effects, have to try a negative setting on contrast and sharpness here to see if it improves.
      Color grading was done in Premiere CC with Lumetri Color.

    • @earthAP
      @earthAP  Před 6 lety

      Thank you :)
      4K 50/60 fps is only 150 Megabits/s on the GH5. I use SanDisk ExtremePro 128GB V30 cards, they work without issues with this bitrate. For 400 Megabits/s you need a faster card however.
      Have a look at this awesome blogpost for more info: www.capetowntours.photography/best-memory-cards-panasonic-gh5/

      Thank you! I haven't tested the 1.7 yet, so I can't really give you a profound answer, but from what I read the 1.7 should be really sharp as well. Maybe you can test it somewhere or order it and return if you don't like it?

    • @earthAP
      @earthAP  Před 6 lety +1

      No, actually I use manual focus all the time! I don't quite like the electronic "focus-by-wire" feeling as much as I love a direct mechanical feeling but it still works pretty good. (needs practice though)

    • @mclarenf1V12
      @mclarenf1V12 Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for responding. I am really struggling with this decision because I am seeing some good clips like this one and then a lot of 'ok' clips. What I like about yours is I can't find any noise or rushing grain pattern. Anywhere! I shoot BlackMagic 4K, so I am in love with really exceptional color (skins in particular) and the dynamic range of RAW. But the BM cams are terrible in low light and even in some of the shots I see in your clip, my BM would have been noisy in the shadowy logs and leaves. Did you use any type of cleaner? I keep thinking GH5 is really good in 6K mode but kind of noisy in 4K but then I come to your clip and I love it. And yours was at 150mbit? I would have loved to have seen this in photo mode. Would you care to elaborate a bit? And I certainly appreciate you time and input. I come from the days of hacking the firmware on GH2s (back in the day) so I really care about a good natural look! Thanks!!!!

    • @earthAP
      @earthAP  Před 6 lety +2

      Thanks for your comment. Yes, you are right, 150mbits. I didn't use any cleaner or noise reduction in post on these clips, only Lumetri Color inside Premiere. I believe that if you keep in mind the native ISO of 400 and stick to it (by using ND filters or a fast lens depending on the lighting) you'll get noise free images.
      Haven't tested out the 6K feature yet, so I can't comment on that. I don't really see the benefit of it if most people don't even have 4K displays?
