  • Picked up a new fx-115ES PLUS 2nd edition (US) -- I believe it is marketed as the fx-991ES in other countries.
    The video provides a brief overview of the calculator as compared with the 1st edition. It seems to have nearly identical electronics in a new, prettier shell.

    I have all three of these calculators. The 2nd Edition Fx-991es Plus C (Canadian version) is all black like the Fx-991ex. Matches nicer. Also found doing an Integral 0,6 e^x^3 is about a second faster than the 2nd Edition. The ex smokes both of them! Still love my HP 48sx though! Use it, the 48gx & 50g. Don't have the Prime..... Yet.

      Glad you found it helpful and appreciate you leaving a comment. I really like the fx-115ES -- I actually prefer it over the fx-991EX. It's much slower, but I find it more intuitive and like the bigger font. There's a deeper-dive video available here if you are interested --> czcams.com/video/6J_ehPTc0hw/video.html

    Question I hope you can answer! I recently had to change one of the modes on my calculator and every since I've noticed a few different things that weren't like this before. When I go in to add a fraction, before it would let me put one number over another like a normal fraction would look like, but now it just gives me this weird backwards L shape.
    I've also noticed that when I go to add an exponent, it gives me the same symbol but with an arrow and parentheses, whereas it used to give me a dark box to insert my number in the exponent spot.
    These are small details that are really annoying to me because now I get less accurate answers and this is the calculator I use for my Algebra 2 class. I have no idea how to reverse it, so I'm hoping you do.

    • @scottcollins7513
      @scottcollins7513  Před 3 lety +3

      Two thoughts:
      (1) You accidentally went into complex mode. Click "MENU" button and type "1". This will put you in normal mode.
      (2) You changed the settings by accident. You want MathI/MathO setting -- explained in this video: czcams.com/video/efPx9mx2Kh4/video.html

      I am not sure about anything in the crazy world of calculators. There are too many variations of calculators made for different markets. If the website shows 403 function for one calculator and 257 for another, I think they are significantly different. Sorry I am not more help. Glad you are doing your research.

      Just make sure that your 115ES Plus has the solver function (shifted function of CALC key), handles matrices/vectors, and has numeric integration and derivative. It should definitely have those if it is a USA fx-115ES Plus, but worth making sure. I think if it has those you will be fine with it.

    They made the EX and they lave out functions.... I am confused and buffled. They made a German version DEX with 696 functions. In Italy we din t even have the 115es plus/ 991 es plus Canadian. We miss lcm and gcd, cuncurring numbers and disequations solver, plus other stuff. Honestly it s a very bad commercial strategy. I will look at other brands.
