  • Restoration Shop - Trash to Treasure:
I find a old oil painting at a market that is very cheap due to the damage.
In the next two videos I show you the viewer how to restore an old oil painting (trash) and make it into treasure.

This gentleman is treating this painting as a professional conservator. Does he know what he’s doing. I’ve watch Baumgartner and he handles the paintings with lots more careHe is not facing the painting or using any chemicals to remove anything . No way this guy is a professional consevator

Cringing all the way through! Baumgartner would have heart attack.

Just what every painting needs, a weetabix packet stuck to the back of it! I've never seen anything like it. Give me Baumgartner any day.

    thank you for your video
    A question.
I have heard you have to use distilled water to clean a painting....
Is there an advantage to using saliva?

Is this video a joke ????? This is the worst restoration I've ever seen. It has absolutely nothing to do with restoration. Oil paintings are never cleaned with spit, it destroys the painting and it's disgusting too. You can't get the dirty varnish off with it either. The picture is still dirty. Incidentally, a new varnish must be applied after cleaning. The video is a joke or ???

Hey everyone, oil painting artist here. Any idea how to remove mold/mildew from the backs of canvases safely? I've tried everything but nothing seems to work. We had some high humidity in our basement which affected several of my paintings and I'm trying to restore them back to their original condition. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I would try a test patch with watered down ammonia (I would try half ammonia and half water but experiment). I have used it to clean mold off painted walls.
Just be careful not to soak the canvas..
      Hope it works.
