I feel relentless is a great weapon and honestly, when you break it down it isn't far behind Messenger at all. It also does something different/better than messenger.

I got many good rolls from prosecutor farming, no 5/5 (stupid Masterwork) but some really good ones !!

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm loving these new prophecy weapons for their sight designs, they're so clean

correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's the same as it was before. I do agree on the whole, but im commenting specifically on the fact that this isn't a new sight.
Something to touch on with Keep Away is the magical 5% Accuracy Cone growth reduction. Because of how High-Impacts operate, this boost in the accuracy means your bursts are more consistently on-target and more often benefitting from the high Aim Assist on Relentless.
This would also stack with the accuracy bonus with the high-impact frame, assuming you're not moving or otherwise meeting the impact frame criteria?
I want to touch on the range discussion here a bit. Mr CoolGuy here likes his high range, thats fine. I encourage people to go try out NTTE before dismantling everything with less than 75 range. NTTE has 70 range, which equates to 36.13 meters before damage dropoff. I recently have been using NTTE a ton, and i rarely feel like it needs more range. Maybe the difference in zoom between things like NTTE and Relentless (NTTE is at 17, Relentless is at 18) make a difference in dueling (i find that higher zoom makes me want to be further out from a target in any duel, especially close up, because with higher zoom you are a bit more tunnel-visioned and higher zoom contributes to difficulty landing shots in close range). Whatever may be, i feel that the bar to reach is 70. If you like more, go for more. I also feel that sometimes using the greatest of the great (in this case that would be messenger) can contribute to everything less good (even slightly) feeling terrible. For example, if i were used to a 5/5 Immortal and then picked up something like a 5/5 Rapacious Appetite, the Rapacious Appetite will feel abysmal. Not because RA it is bad, but because Immortal is so good (if that makes sense). If you are used to a RA, it will feel great, and using an Immortal in such a situation will feel like cheating. Perspective is important. CoolGuy is used to a super high range Messenger, so he uses all pulse rifles that resemble messenger like messenger (at least in terms of range. Obviously he doesn’t with other things given that he referenced that messenger and relentless are very different use case weapons). I am used to a lower range, so lower range wont bother me.
I just want to encourage people to try other things out. If you get a max handling roll or something, try it out. You may find that high handling is more appealing than range, or something like that. Try stuff out, find how you like things to feel.
I can definitely tell a difference in the range changes with NTTE. I have lost many duels against other pulses due to range fall off. Just got to find the sweet spot. It’s still really good though
I just want to point out that NTTE feels that good after multiple nerfs. That says a LOT.
The thing is, range is so important on weapons like this because of how slow firing they are. That's to say, you are extremely punished for not getting the two burst. That's built into these guns for a reason, the blistering fast base ttk and all. If you can do it from far away you have more time to get it done, and guarantee the two burst by not getting damage fall off.
Just wait until Elsies Rifle comes out. It's literally the NTTE gun model and exact same insane base stats but trading the exotic buddy for a stat masterwork, enhanceable perks, and the ability to equip weapon mods. If I get my god roll of enhanced keep away and enhanced headseeker it will essentially be NTTE with 15 more range, 15 more stability, 35 more reload, and the extra crit damage, aim assist, and accuracy that comes from those two perks. Oh and slap on a weapon mod for even more AA or AE. Cool guy says messenger has juiced base stats, elsie's is higher in stability, handling, reload, aim assist, airborne effectiveness, and recoil direction. It's going to be a beast.

Watching your video and you talking about zen moment on The Messenger made me glad I never deleted the roll that I have. Small bore, high caliber rounds, zen moment, kill clip and range for the masterwork.
Farmed dozens of these and tried out various rolls and the one that has done best for me is Zen and Keep Away together. Makes more sense why that is seeing this.

I was one of the FEW people who actually held on to my Messenger with Zen Moment, Desperado..... All i can say is im SUPER happy i held on to it The Messenger with Zen Moment is no joke, its a beast with Zen Moment..... If you are one of the people sleeping on a Zen Moment roll of Messenger in your vault and you like high impact pulses pull out this weapon and give it a try you won't be disappointed.
Love this video - thanks. Two additional things: 1. The good recoil direction means you can run targeting mod, which you’d rarely do on Messenger, giving +7 aim assist; and 2. The sights are so, so clean that it feels somehow lighter than Messenger. I’m not saying it’s better, but it’s a really good alternative. Interested in seeing more about perfect rolls of this, v messenger, v Zen Moment / Headseeker Cold Denial…
This thing has such an insanely clean scope, I'd use it almost instantly over Messenger for that reason alone. I'd rate the scope just under the legacy of SC-Holo. I'm fishing for a Keep Away Headseeker roll, myself
I think a good indicator of how good these reviews are is that I, a PvE player who never touches PvP unless I absolutely have to, is still wathcing these reviews. I only hope one day there will be great PvE reviews too
Slice just makes it automatically better than messenger for actually good players, sever is busted

I've really been enjoying a Snapshot + Headseeker roll. Solves the ADS problem this archetype has, while retaining all the range benefits you need.
Using the same roll, it's beautiful
I'm jelly. It's only going to get better too. When they unlock the ability to enhance it there's another 10 stability for you.
It doesnt completely solve the handling issues as it will feel like a slug when trying to ready/stow the gun.
@@xPureAndTheTaintedx you’re right. I mean to say the ADS speed problem. Drawing the weapon out and putting it away will suck regardless. I can deal with that. Slow ADS speed is my pet peeve for any weapon so despite having a perfect keep away + head seeker roll and perfect zen moment + rapid hit roll, I keep coming back to snapshot. The park that Messenger doesn’t have that can matter.

I really love to see a darkest before video next I been loving that gun lately because I been playing void on my warlock in pvp for a while was ready for a change. Want back to my BXR when I switch to solar but something was off so I want to my vault and I was like I need a solar pulse remember I got Heal clip Headseeker roll man it Slaps but it's no 5/5 but I love to hear your take on it

Coolguy I have a 67/77/87 with Keep Away and the Origin Trait roll, should I try to grind more for that max range?
While enchancing the 3/4 column perks, will we be able to change the 1/2 column and the masterwork too?
I have one with Hammer Forged/High-Cal/Keep Away/Headseeker/Stability MW
85 range with Keep Away and the origin trait, 59 stability. Good enough or should I really go for Zen?
I have a slice desperado roll and I personally like it a lot as a hunter main
I've been on a bit of a break from D2 but came back to play some Iron Banner, and this thing just feels so good. At least for me, there's just something about this gun that makes it feel better than Messenger; I don't know if it's the sound, the sights, or just the bonuses from the origin trait, but I perform way better with it than I ever did with Messenger, even without the Zen Moment roll I want the most. I have an old Zen Moment + Desperado Messenger that I've been using forever, but to me this thing just feels like it has that special sauce that makes it even better than the stats suggest.
Same here and I'm still trying to get the Zen-Moment roll on Relentless. This beauty just feels different and outclasses Messenger in this regard
Messenger isn’t even in my top 3 for high impacts. I really hate the little life saver sight and the crappy recoil. I take this, psy hermetic, and phyllotactic spiral any day.

My first roll was zen/keep away with 70 range, 59 stability, and it feels amazing. I still switch back and forth between it and messenger depending on map
Been using a Full Bore/Ricochet/Keep Away/Hatchling roll with Handling mw in Iron Banner and I love it so far 🫶

With the incoming nerf to primary flinch, will the value of perks like Zen, Perfect Float, etc. diminish in S+++ GODTIER status, in your eyes?

I'm just happy that it doesn't look like I'm running around with an Acrius-sized weapon model in my hands. A clean model and a clean scope already makes me like it way more than Messenger.

My friend has a really bad old controller with a ton of stick drift that makes pvp really frustrating for him and yet he's loving Darkest Before, so that's saying something. I still gotta get myself a good one to try it.

I’ve got a slice zen moment roll. Depending on the match I actually prefer it to my kill clip messenger
So prophecy weapons will only be able to have enhanced perks, but we won’t be able to change the barrel and mag right? Because they won’t be craftable

Ive got corkscrew, ricocet, keep away, headseeker, range mw...95 range. It's a beast.
I think this also has fixed recoil while the messenger doesn't, that might factor into the two-burst consistency
My best vintage Zen gun is an old Antiope with ricochet / zen / tap / 84 range. It's just too good to ever delete.

Man idk what to do here. I’ve never really used the high impacts much but since I’ve gotten back into pvp a bit recently I want to break them out, but idk what I want more. I’ve got two great rolls of this pulse, keep away+headseeker and keep away+zen but I’ve got an old non adept messenger with zen+headseeker that’s brutal. Tough choices, but man that messenger is clean.

I really like messenger I always have and I have farmed for my god roll for years with no joy, I want small bore ricochet rounds rapid hit headseeker and a range mw, I don’t religiously play trials but over the years I’ve had at least 150 messengers probably more and the closest one I have got is small bore ricochet rapid hit desperado and a range mw. It feels good but not great, I don’t know why the stats are great but it doesn’t feel as good as another one I have which is small bore ricochet rapid hit keep away with a handling mw, I feel keep away is the magic ingredient with rapid hit. I have farmed the dungeon a lot but haven’t got that magic keep away roll yet but that’s the one I’ll keep, zen is fine and Ive had it on messengers and the prophecy auto but keep away is better and enhanced will be sooooo much better. I wonder how good or bad the strangers rifle will be mmmmm see you next week when we find out 👍

I did get a decent looking Relentless the first week Prophecy was farmable after the recent update.
The role I have makes my Relentless more like, and don't quote me on this, "A Walmart-Brand Phyllotactic Spiral."
The role I have on this has:
Extended Barrel
High Caliber Rounds
Rapid Hit
Headseeker
Stability Masterwork
Counterbalance Mod
I want to ask what you think of this roll, Coolguy? Keep in mind, I got almost a hundred kills on it. But I want your take on this one.
Keep away is what you want. Feels amazing on this gun
i have an arrowhead armour piercing with keep away and zen moment with a range masterwork and it feels amazing. counterbalance mod takes it to 100 recoil, feels way better than messenger to me.
Rolling relentless with snapshot, headseeker, and extended barrel, Rico rounds and range masterwork, it can best messenger any day
Honestly the only reason i use this over messenger is because of the bullet tracer, seeing where the bullets go helps me see adjust my aim.
Also since relentless if at the 1st encounter, its fast to farm during this rotator
I got Full Bore, Ricochet, Keep Away, Zen Moment, and unfortunately Handling MW. 75 base range, plus KA to 85 and Crossing over 95 Range at beginning of magazine? I'm a happy guardian
My biggest disdain for high impact pulses is the handling and with snapshot relentless feels amazing.
Its insane if you land a roll with headseeker and keep away
Messenger sadly rolls both perks in the same slot
How does backup mag scale or does it not work with the origin trait?
It works, it just spreads the scale across the extra bullets added. Same start and end percentages as far as light and dark.

Listen man. I only have so much time to farm weapons, and there are just SO many good weapons out rn. Its almost just easier to craft a disparity with headseeker and eye of the storm and let it rip. Also the belasarius D exist which can and will reach out and touch you across the map.
looking back the messenger was a nod to saint-14 😮
Mine has keep away and frenzy. Its a solid don't think just shoot roll.

Relentless has a much nicer scope to my eye. The thing that always bugged me about adept messenger is the fact that the gun has literally the worst recoil out of all high impacts. Adept counterbalance mod is garbage because it reduces range by 10 so I never even use adept mods on it because 60 recoil feels bad and adept CB sucks.
I’ve just mentioned similar above, but the need to do something about the recoil direction / stability on Messenger via the mod slot means you can typically get +7 aim assist on Relentless.
Top D2 reviewer period & hard stop. Thats saying alot because Messenger is my favorite gun in this game.
I love my messenger…. But this thing is better imo - I use headseeker on both. But with rapid hit headseeker, this thing is a laser beam. You didn’t talk about the scope or the deterministic recoil. Even at 65 (base recoil) it feels great, messenger either needs a counterbalance or arrowhead break. The scope highlights and prob one of the best in game. And with it being strand it synergises excellent with my hunter strand kit. It’s gonna be my first weapon to enhance for sure. Then I see no reason to run messenger at all unless I’m running kill clip.
No mention of Deterministic Recoil, what reason do I have to even watch this. I know how to use D2foundtry myself.
Obviously the whole video is amazing as always, but 5:00 is just gold ... That moment of "... lul".

The belisaurius just seems to be an all around better pulse.. both for pve and pvp. Unless desperado is super cool but.. if not.. rapid hit KC is just golden on the beli-d

I will ALWAYS pick my Relentless over ANY Messenger, cannot put my Rapid Hit/Zen roll down, it wins duels it has NO business winning.

One thing you didn't touch on which I noticed right away is how much better the sight is compared to messengers. I always disliked messengers sight its like looking through a spyglass or monocle. Relentless sight is very nice.
Idk why, but this thing just doesnt hit for me. I have a high stability/keep away roll and I stg I cant hit headshots with it. Messenger and spiral are just pure two-burst city, but this gun is just gives me straight bodyshots I swear. Idk if its the scope or what but it doesn’t hit for me

The scope on Relentless is way better than Messenger imo. Cleaner sights and highlights targets.
