The reason the village wasn't upgrading properly is because it's all connected to your underwater support piece which goes out of your village. I had the same happen to me when I built at the top of a tall spire in the desert. Have an elevator going up to it and anything connected to the elevator counts as outside of my village, which means villagers couldn't work on any benches connected to that either. Had to separate the elevator and the village.

the game ignores physics like that lol.... I built a mono rail in the sky from 1 biome to another and had no issues its literally just a incredibly long train track floating... although I did add beams across the entire thing to make it seem like its being held up for aesthetics
Idea: make a tiki bar. Also you can make a boat to get to the raft faster if you know how. In my village at least I have a lake where I made a dock village thing. Also a tree house village. W video, keep up the good work.
Definitely is one. Don't change your followers a lot and leave them places. It screws everything up. I had to destroy every bed in my world. They move if around village to village if they were following you and you leave them with no bed. You have to always make sure you assign them a bed.

QUICK Farming Tip. Find a patch of Joshua Trees in the dessert biome, usually on the grassland/dessert border and use your sword to speed farm them. Super op 400 wood in a few min!

Idea: try to bring a villager from ure og bases as a adventure helper to the ocean base and then just tell him to stay there or give him the job to get food
The villagers can't sleep in those beds because they're not supposed to be out that far. Notice you don't have that yellow, transparent square that shows your "village square" boundaries. Same happened to me building a shore biome
Idea make a village next to another village and it could be a real mega base and each village could be like a different part but connect it to your mega base

Try to put the villagers beds in the higher floors because maybe it thinks the beds are to close to the water? Or try leaving and rejoining like you did to upgrade your village, but ask the villager to join instead?
The only thing to fix it is by putting the village square ,either higher and the Bed on a high platform because when you tried again it said there was no empty beds and the only empty bed was the glitched one and yours was claimed

I had a bridge connecting to my water village and uh It fell into the ocean

tip to go farther swimming: swim for as long as you can until you're near drowning then log and rejoin, it fills your energy back up.

Have had the "there is no bed" issue too in the past. What fixed it for me was smash and rebuild the village square.

Maybe having planks from the beach out to the ocean and build the castle off of the planks like a narrow wharf will allow you to place beds.
