Parrot BABY 🐣 at the breeding station of LORO PARQUE FUNDACIÓN in La Vera | zoos.media

At Loro Parque Foundation's breeding center in La Vera a lot of cute parrot chicks of various species hatch each year. We have been able to accompany the curator of the Loro Parque Foundation, Márcia Weinzettl, during her morning control of the eggs and there was a very cute surprise.
A newly hatched Cloncurry parrot (Barnardius barnardi macgillivrayi) was in the incubator, where the eggs come about 48 hours before hatching. In the video, you can see how the parrot baby is prepared for his departure to the baby station.
We also see in the video a freshly fertilized egg from which a Major Mitchell's cockatoo (Cacatua leadbeateri) will hatch, we discover a Salmon-crested cockatoo (Cacatua moluccensis) will hatch in 48 hours, and be prepared for the hatching incubator.
The Loro Parque with his foundation houses the largest parrot collection in the world with an impressive biodiversity. In the modern zoo itself, you can only see the smaller part of the entire collection. The larger part is at the breeding station in La Vera, which can normally only be visited by members of the Foundation at certain times.
This year is particularly successful for the Foundation, as many species have been successfully bred and a relatively large number of babies have hatched from the egg. The parrot collection represents the most important genetic reserve worldwide and helps to save parrots species.
Thanks to the combination of in situ and ex situ actions, the Loro Parque Fundación has already saved nine species of parrots from extinction. These species only exist in the wild, because Loro Parque and its foundation have contributed a crucial part to the conservation project in which they cooperated with other organizations.
The work of Loro Parque and his foundation, both of which were founded by Wolfgang Kiessling, show the great importance of modern zoos for the protection of species and nature. The Foundation's successes, which include the nine rescued species, also go hand in hand with projects that are often successful enough to help preserve nature.
