I remember watching this on the TV back then. The Rankin Family then toured Scotland and we were lucky enough to see them at Eden Court Theatre in Inverness.
Absolutely stunningly beautiful.......haven't been home in 2 years....just made a 6 minute and 42 second trip....thank you so much Raylene,Heather,Cookie Jimmy, John Morris and of course Howie MacDonald
Amazing does not even begin to describe their singing I am privileged to sing a couple of their pieces with a choir that is presenting Celtic songs this springs
I for one would queue up to buy a Rankin Family Compilation DVD. They were fantastic and so unassuming. I don't think they realised how amazing they were.
I’m English and proud but I’m proud of Ireland more they accepted me when I moved there and the people are just amazing helpful happy friendly people I wish I was Irish
I had the great joy of seeing the Rankins a few times, I'm from Inverness county, Cape Breton, as well. They're our pride and joy here, along with John Allen Cameron. Timeless Celtic music!
Same here. I have 4 of their CD's. The one currently in my car's player has both those songs on it. My grandkids request I play the CD especially Belle of Belfast whenever they are in my car.
This is a fantastic; I remember seeing it on TV. Any chance you have an excerpt from the same performance that includes the Gaelic song Chi Mi na Mòrbheanna? I would love to see that performance again.
+JeanSweatergirl Raylene passed from cancer on Sept. 30th, 2012 at the age of 52, John Morris was killed in an auto accident, Jan 16th, 2000 at the age of 40.
Best music family to come from 🇨🇦👏👏👏

Ahhh I had the biggest crush on Jimmy
eeeeeeeeyaaooooo
jesus. now i know why i was born. to hear this.
John, is this your own footage or BBC footage?
+Amanda Campbell Its mine ;)
Is that Scottish Gaelic?
Yes
You are with John Morris, now.
Only 3 surviving Rankins: Cookie, Heather and Jimmy.
QuasarDiamond cookie past away too
Cookie is very much alive and healthy today. Heather is promoting her solo music as well as Jimmy.
Saw Heather this fall at Celtic Colours Festival.
From this lineup, there were 12 siblings to begin with.
John Morris’s daughter Molly has become fairly well known in the indie rock world over the last few years via her band Alvvays.
How many of them are surviving. I think it surely sucks that the good die young. Maybe their children will make great music, too. It's in the blood.
There are three of them left.
Look up Alvvays
