It’s also important to protect your skin barrier otherwise too much salicylic acid used to often will leave a compromised barrier leading to secondary issues. Don’t overdo it. More is not always better.
How can we protect the barrier?? What should we use after the SA?
I use the cosrx snail mucin and then an actual moisturizer with ceramides on top. I use the one by vanicream but there are tons of moisturizers with ceramides out there. You may also want to use a product with inflammation reducing ingredients like centella asiatica if you have sensitive skin and use chemical exfoliatiors. I also use hyaluronic acid first thing after washing my face, but you can probably skip it

There are contraindications to the use of some products that the consumer should be aware of. Retinoids for example can't be used by pregnant because it may lead to miscarriage.
Cerave resurfacing serum for sure! Also, mild daily exfoliant with salicylic acid works as well.
That’s what she said
Hi can i use resurfacing serum and ordinary SA together?
@@harbilito4910 NO. Too much of any actives will cause redness, irritation, and inflammation. Retinoids and BHAs like salicylic acid should NEVER be used together! Salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant and retinoids would be too strong for freshly exfoliated skin (this is why retinoid percentages in products are really low).
It would be better to alternate which products to use on which day so that way your skin isn't overloaded in just one wash. Retinoids should be used once a week for a month or 2 while salicylic acid should be used 2-3 times a week until you gain a tolerance because it can be VERY drying and irritating first time around.
And because your skin is basically put into hyperdrive turning itself over with actives, you will most likely break out in places your don't normally break out and that's perfectly normal. Its called purging. Its basically your skin puking up impurities and bringing them up to the surface.
There's denatured alcohol in it tho. It will dry out skin and demage skin barrier.
Too much will damage your face but a little is fine. I use the grapefruit Neutrogena acne face wash that comes in a pump bottle and some Walmart brand toner (both lasts a long time because there's so much in the bottles so the costs are worth it). Whenever I have a group of big zits or acne, I use differn gel. Whenever I have big invidual ones, I use pimple patches.
I have had this problem bothering me since I went through puberty (I am now 22)... I've managed to keep it down most of the time after picking up on a routine in most recent years, but I had no idea these were not blackheads!!! This video is a blessing

Reduce the amount of animal fat, dairy fat, and seed oils in your diet to reduce these clogged sebacious glands.
@@NLR759 a year ago I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and since that I’ve improved my eating habits a lot! Now I’m at my ideal weight thanks to a healthy low fat diet and I still have some blackheads that I remove each 3-4 weeks and I’m okay with that because I have combo skin type and it’s normal to have them especially around the nose. What I want to say it’s that you don’t have to get obsessed buying skincare products to completely get rid off blackheads because it’s a natural consequence of being alive ✨

@@NLR759no don’t listen to this moron. I’m about to finish by bachelors in nutritional science. Good fat from REAL (non processed) foods has to be one of the best possible things for your skin health. Eat fatty cuts of red meat with collagen. Eat it all. The one thing I agree with is seed oils. Eliminate those completely it’s helped me tremendously. Seed oils aren’t natural as it takes millions of seeds to produce little oil. Anything like vegetable oil, rapeseed(canola), sunflower, sesame, cottonseed, corn oil, and soybean. Avoid these at all costs. The only oils you should consume aren’t from seeds and aren’t refined in a factory. Here are some cheaper alternatives that have way more health benefits and aren’t toxic to your body like seed oils: avocado oil, coconut, peanut, olive oil, also animal lard, and bacon fat are great. Any sort of beef tallow. Even regular old butter or clarified butter(ghee) are all 100x better options. Please do research if you don’t believe me😊
22 years dealing with severe acne, constant oily skin, blackheads, sebaceous filaments, boils, keloids and everything in between. Not one single over the counter product had helped, and I’ve tried the ALL. Nor did the prescribed antibiotics work either. The one and only thing that has worked, and I can’t believe it took me so many years to finally do it was accutane. 5 months on and the treatment is done. Oily skin GONE, pores shrank can’t even notice them anymore. Not one active pimple since stopping. And all the scars and marks drastically improving in texture and color. Don’t be afraid. It’s the miracle I needed for 2 decades.
Thank you, my dermatologist was useless when I asked her about this. She told me it’s just how some people’s skin is. I may need to switch to another one because her answer kind of made me mad. It made her seem incompetent and I’m glad I didn’t believe her. I’m so glad you made this video.
Something that has really helped me with this is called the Oil Cleansing Method. Oil and water dont mix but an oil will get up in there and help losen things up. You use an oil facial cleanser and thoroughly massage your face in circles. Youll usually feel "grits" which as far as Im aware are little hard parts of gunk getting worked out of your pores (which my gross self finds really satisfying haha) Then you wash it off with a gentle normal cleanser. I also just started using an SA product called Pore Release by Hero Cosmetics and its the first thing Ive tried I felt like Im actually seeing results from.
Hey, What oils do you use ?
@@kacey_alexandra6311hi, you can use any light oil I use a combo of olive oil, grape seed, and sweet almond. Also camellia oil is lovely just more pricey. Apply the oil and massage your face, then take a small towel and wet it with hot water and put on your face to wipe off the oil, then wash with a regular cleanser. Your skin will be so soft and clear!
What oil cleanser do you use?
I just bought my first oil cleanser to try this method, interested to see the results.
Yes to this! Double cleansing changed my skincare journey forever. My skin is smoother and much clearer than before. I use the cocokind oil cleanser(it’s kinda thick, likes balm consistency), followed by the la roche posay cleanser

*cries in salicylic acid allergy*
ouch 😞 I wonder what works for you since you have an allergy? 😄
can you not take aspirin either?
@@fs8972 nope :/ I take paracetamol (tylenol) mostly. The thing is, I've never tested for allergies in that regard, but both my parents are severally allergic to it (my mum has had anaphylatic chock bc of it) so I'm so not putting myself through the risk of having to go to the hospital just to test if I'm indeed allergic or not. That's okay, paracetamol works most times tbh.
i heard oil cleansers help idk if that causes allergic reaction tho 😅
Can you use retinoids ? Retin A works wonders (stay out of the sun or use sunblock) and many insurance companies will pay for it if used to treat acne. Most doctors will give you a prescription
On Rare Occasions those black spots are neither! They’re “Trichostasus Spinulosa” up to 8 tiny black hairs in one pore! No they’re not Sebaceous Filaments and they’re not vellus hairs. It’s a pretty uncommon condition but pretty cool under a microscope 😊
I swear some of my pores have hair peeking out of them and I can't tweeze or squeeze them
@@lalalalaland84You’re not wrong! There is hair all over the face. If you grab a mirror and have the sun hitting your face just right, you can usually see them all along the lower cheek and jawline. Or just try getting your whole face threaded and you will FEEL each individual hair being ripped out. The results are nice 😁 it helps skin to look smoother, less chance of infection than dermaplaning/shaving, and make up will appear a lot smoother on the face.

I no longer have acne and black heads all over my face. I only have sebaceous filaments on my T zone and inner cheeks since using 0.1% tretinoin for the past few years. I know it’s not a good idea, but a few months ago, I discovered that I can pluck them out with nail nippers. It’s so satisfying to see an empty pore. Nothing gets rid of them for me except for doing that. I try not do it because I feel like they keep my skin moisturized 😅
Highly reccomend the CeraVe SA cleanser. Dampen your face, massage for a moment and then wait for it to dry a bit before you rinse - that's the best way to use active cleansers and get the benefits!
It lessened the black pores?
do we use it daily like a normal cleanser? I have a normal-dry skin..
What a beautiful doctor!
Very clear advice given in a precise manner. Thank you 🙏 And with affordable recommendations!!👍
I used to have this problem and what worked for me was: emptying (squeezing) my pores nightly, using an oil control cleanser, Retin A nightly (many insurance companies will pay for it to be used for acne) and an oil free moisturizer containing salicylic acid during the day esp. under makeup. Many people don't understand the purpose of a moisturizer if they have oily skin. There's a difference between oil (as from the skin) & water (coming form an OIL FREE moisturizer) oily skin can still become dehydrated esp while using retinoids. It also keeps pollution and makeup from seeping into pores
that sounds hard: I'd rather be ugly
А ц вас какая кожа ели честно?

you REALLY shouldn't squeeze these pores unless you can do it extremely gently and still remove them. If you do it with any sort of pressure, you can easily scar/open the pores up worse and end up either exacerbating the issue, or with small scare wounds on your nose. If you want to remove them before exfoliating, you should look at pore strips instead
This is extremely helpful! I’ve had these for years and always assumed they were just blackheads
I just used up a bottle of Korres Santorini Grape Poreless Skin Cream and it has been amazing! I used washes and toners with the typical 2% salicylic acid and my face was always left dried out. Now I use this cream under my makeup and my pores look less visible. I've extracted less sebum from my pores and noticed less blackheads around my face. I already have another $42 bottle in my cart at ulta. Normally I would not buy a face cream this expensive but this I feel is worth it.
Very well explained, thanks🙏
I've had these subtle, black dots as long as I can remember! Mainly on the nose, if I look up close there's a bunch. Looking forward to the day I can try out one of these products, thanks!
I usually have to tweeze these things every two weeks. Perhaps one of these products will help. This gives me hope.
Nose strips work
you are not supposed to remove them just keep them clean. Nose strips are bad but I suppose you both mean for blackheads and not what she was talking about in the video 😊 strips remove both blackheads and healthy sebaceous filaments and dermatologists do not like nose strips because they can do damage to the skin... so should be used rarely if so. Exfoliating is good but with chemical exfoliator like AHA not those scrubs with granules.
@@peixeess Why are people not "supposed to remove them"? Dermatologists and estheticians remove them all the time.
They clog up your pores and there is no harm in removing them. I have used nose strips for years with no problems.

I literally thought they were blackheads and this pops up, thanks for the info!
I was made fun of in school because people thought they were blackheads and I couldn’t handle the teasing anymore and tried to get a dermatologist but she didn’t help me. I’m hyperaware of people looking at me, thinking they’re staring at my nose and are disgusted with me. Literally if I didn’t have this issue, I would be a million times more confident. When I tried clay masks, they would work for literally like 5 seconds - empty pores - and then just look the same as before. I’ve just given up, I’m so exhausted from trying.
don’t even stress about it. i have the same issue i cant even see them unless i get all up in the mirror. it isn’t even noticeable unless someone is right up in your face looking at your nose.
Same here, mine are also huge and no matter how much makeup I use to cover it up, or how many products or scrubbing I use. The appearance stays the same.

Same in junior high i was called the black nosed girl or big nose (my nose isint even big) but the black dots made it appear larger and puberty n all that hit so i became super insecure with my nose. FRIGGIN LIFESAVER!
I have these and they annoy the shit outta me.
However I can see you can’t overdo it so I’ll take that in mind.
I use all the products mentioned, yet I’m still struggling
Same the Cerave cleanser has done nothing for me, also to gentle.
The only thing keeping my skin at bay is The Ordinary serum, its the only thing that keeps me from breaking out with more sebum but at the same time does not clear up my face.
Do you exfoliate? That is very important to get rid of the dead skins, twice a week.
same
10% Azelaic Acid (I use Eva Naturals or Baha brand) + plus any serum containing 10% Niacinamide with at least 2% Zinc PCA (it's the Zinc PCA that's most important here - it regulates my oil production like nothing else I've ever seen). And unlike other acids, azelaic acid is non-irritating... in fact, I think it actually helped my skin become more resilient to strong exfoliants.
As the good doctor says, I've been using retinoids, salicylic acid, and glycolic acid for 20 years (all VERY carefully and patiently worked up to in terms of strength and frequency, so as not to burn my face off!!!). These are critical for exfoliation and keeping acne at bay, not to mention INDISPENSIBLE for anti-aging (especially glycolic). But none of them ever did so much as a _thing_ for the sebacious filaments on my nose in all these years of use. It wasn't until I added the Azelaic Acid and Zinc PCA this past summer that I ever had progress with those.
Seriously, within one week, those little black dots I had ALL MY LIFE -- that were resistant even to the highest strength retinoids and acids -- simply vanished. My nose became as smooth and clear as a baby's bottom, and I wanted to kick myself for waiting so long to try these other two products that dermatologists rarely talk about.
Also, one tip about salicylic acid products, especially for sensitive skin: I find SA cleansers a waste of money as the product doesn't sit on the skin long enough to do its job, and the 2% products can be way too harsh for daily use. Instead, I like to use 0.5% in a moisturizer that stays on the skin all day. Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Moisturizer Pink Grapefruit or Cetaphil Gentle Clear Mattifying Acne Moisturizer are both cheap and effective (although, once I added the Zinc PCA, I found "mattifying" products like Cetaphil to be unecessary and overlt drying).
Lastly, just in case any newbies are reading this, I feel compelled to implore people just starting out with retinol or acids to PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!! Assuming you have a correctly formulated product (pH 3 - 4 for acids), you can do serious damage to your skin quicker than you realize!!! Start with low strength products, one type at a time, and slowly work up. Back off at the SLIGHTEST sign of redness or inflammation, wait for the skin to fully heal, then resume.
It can be slow and tough going at first, but your skin will acclimate over months and years, and the results are so worth it!!!
@@margueritezoehey i’ve dealt with acne for a while and recently came across 10% azelaic acid but thought that it might be too strong bc 10% sounds like a lot. could you tell me how frequently you use it? or is it part of your everyday routine?

It is always also important to make sure your face is washed. It’s also great to do skincare❤!
CeraVe has a brilliant range of skincare. Love there cleanser, moisturiser and handcream ❤
Please make a video about strawberry legs 🥺
❤
All this time I thought I had blackheads…
I once bought effaclar just to try a skin cleanser. Boughy the gel to wash your face with and the creme you put on pimples. Never in my life did I see a product actually perform magic. Not all, but about 80% of the time I used it, the pimple was almost gone next day. It's just brilliant.
UM - I just wanna listen to her talk about anything. What a gorgeous accent.
Is there a way to make your pores smaller? Or is that just dependent on genetics?
It's genetics, but there are ingredients that have been proven to reduce the size of pores. I believe salicylic acid is one of them.
stop eating sugar - use ice packs
Reduce the amount of animal fat, dairy fat, and seed oils in your diet to reduce these clogged sebacious glands.
Its impossible to make your pores smaller. They're not windows you can open or close. You CAN reduce the appearance of them with "pore-minimizing" products that have actives like retinoids which will temporarily stimulate the collagen surrounding the pores. Again, this is temporary and large pores CANNOT shrink.
Laser will make them a little bit smaller. Anything else will only clean them and you will think that they are smaller.
What about the strong tape being used successfully in the video?
They’re probably the Bioré pore strips. I use them & it pulls them right out. Read the instructions and follow them! It’s easy!
@@FNJ720Thanks!
Just. Bin all other ads for women’s products and have this woman on 😭
Oh my God. Thank you so much. I had no idea what these were. I get them on my nose and armpits, and on my armpits they can get so bad that they get inflamed and hurt a lot.
There's a reason your body does/has this. Fighting against it will just create more skinproblems and hyperfocus on something you can't change wich leads to frustration and spending money on nothing.
yes, the reason your body is producing so much oil on your skin is because of diet. Reduce the amount of animal fat, dairy fat, and seed oils in your diet to reduce these clogged sebacious glands.
@@NLR759 Hahaha. Eating fat is not the same as having fat on your skin, just like eating cholesterol doesn't mean your own cholesterol goes up. This is such a flawed understanding of how the body works.
@@YannickLB Tell them lol! I have steaks once a month, barely drink milk and rarely fry anything with seed oil and have not noticed a difference compared to when I drank milk a lot and ate more foods with animal fat.
been using Ceravee SA for ages but it still there 😂😂😂😂
Don't listen to this marketing. You don't have to spend money to solve this problem. Reduce the amount of animal fat, dairy fat, and seed oils in your diet to reduce these clogged sebacious glands.
Had this all my life. Recently stated using salicylic acid products and my skin looks younger than ever.
this is the video id recommend to my younger self when figuring this out. the cerave products mentioned here alongside the cerava sa rough and bumpy exfoliating cream and the cerave moisturizing cream worked wonders for me
Thank you. It just makes me feel better to hear it from someone who has my type of skin.
Oh, so you mean human skin!?
Omg i left the cera ve sa gel wash on my skin for a few minutes.
Then lightly washed off, very soft not sticky.
Never at any point did it hurt, and was surprised to see such results after a few minutes sitting on the skin.
Things came off when it foamed up with water
I’ve been using inkey cleanser for a few weeks now and my skin has transformed SO MUCH I canttt it’s really been helping me a lot
Could pls also say some natural home made products
Salicylic acid and retinol are evidence based solutions that allow for a consistent product that will be shelf stable. She recommended pretty affordable options. Natural remedies come with risks and inconsistencies.
Baking soda is a great exfoliate
Why can't we just normalize these things? I've had them all my life, and they ain't going anywhere, they are just too resilient. Apart from them, my complexion is great and I don't need any makeup on my facial skin. I accept them and those who love me don't mind this small imperfection.
Same. They are extremely hard to get rid of. You'd need a 150% clean and healthy diet, change your pillow case extremely often, stay on top of this skincare 24/7 and avoid make up a lot. Too much work.
It doesn't seem like this video is trying to pass judgement on anyone - it's just explaining what the condition is. There is an imbalance somewhere in the body/on the skin. If you don't mind having it - that's ok. But for people who get inflammation or other irritated skin conditions in tandem with this - it's good information to clear it up. if you don't mind having clogged pores full of dead skin - then that's great! :)
@@UnknownEntity795It's like earwax build-up.
try reducing the animal fat and oils in your diet. This can significantly improve the condition of your skin, and the appearance of these dark sebacious glands.
Same. Those depilatory patches don't work for me at all.
Try double cleansing! Tiktok taught me an oil based cleanser will remove them. Has made a huge change for my skin
Great information and THANK YOU for recommending solution forward products! Happy holidays!!
I got icepick scars in my nose that look like piercing holes because I tried to get rid of them. What should I do?
TCA cross treatments once a month. It's slowly helping me with the same problem. Good luck
I do all of this and they are still here 😢
Same🥲🥲🥲
I had the same experience. I found adding Niacinamide 10% serum from The Ordinary to my routine helped tremendously with clearing up my nose and it has also stopped my hormonal acne breakouts from happening monthly! It’s been a game changer for me and maybe it could help you. The one from the Ordinary is a really affordable option.
Wash yoiur face with soup then put bicarbonate of soda as your musk u will thnk me
Reduce the amount of animal fat, dairy fat, and seed oils in your diet to reduce these clogged sebacious glands.
Recommending a variety of products, I respect that.
she is selling by affiliated marketing duh
Love how someone recommends actual products rather than chia seed brushes
I fucking HATE skincare its always so fancy so expensive and so so so so sooooooooo difficult to have a good skincare routine for a period of time. Not to mention it is basically impossible if your too young and have allergies to these products.
You don't have to spend any money on skin care. I only wash my face with warm water. What I did get rid of these oily dark sebacious glands was to change my diet. Reduce the amount of animal fat, dairy fat, and seed oils in your diet to reduce these clogged sebacious glands.
The ordinary products actually work well and are from $6-12 at ulta, other stores! Same actives as fancy ones that do cost sooooo much 😩
