Because with the general public's music taste being so astoundingly awful, any talentless asshole can click on autotune, slightly modify the last big hit, and make a song that appeals to the masses for a hot minute...the problem is, they got lucky with it, can't follow it up, they get old fast, and go on to be has-been 1-hit wonders. Record companies know this, so they cast a wide net bagging all the dickheads who can make a catchy tune, they become old new and the label moves on to the next flavor of the week.

I only know Mod through MGK and decided to click on this because it was a rec'd video off of one of MGK's interviews, and I used to judge him by his looks so damn hard. But after watching this, I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised with how real and wise he is. I think he's someone who can be infinitely misunderstood - someone people would judge immediately without knowing his story and that's honestly what I did. I thought he was just some lowlife who just does a shit ton of drugs and mopes around acting like a lunatic, but after listening to what he's been through, I'm inspired by the way he looks at life and the way he urges people to not just live in the moment but to enjoy it to the fullest possible extent. And to take every minute and cherish it like it's your last.

I'm gonna have to be totally honest, I definitely have never hung out around a drug addict for longer than like the 5 minute random interactions from walking around NYC (where I live) lmao. Also I posted this so long ago, and sometimes my tastes evolve through that kind of time. That said, I don't know; I still think there's something to be taken away from his rambling. I've just been trying to be better about not judging from a distance, because it's a lesson that I keep learning and re-learning over and over again.
I did see that he was getting sober; kudos to him. Regardless, no hate; I still don't think he said anything particularly wrong or harmful in this interview. Annoying? Maybe. But sending him positivity anyway.

This man is a family friend. He worked for my daughter's grandfather when he was a kid and genius tbat he was asked our amazing bampa for advice.... and grandpa saw the greatness. I bought my children his book. He is so real and shares so many mantras with myself and the beauty in the world I tried to instill in my kids. I'm 42 guys, and this kid gets it. Also, he remembers my family and continues to personally take to e out to inspire us. Is is not an idol, he is a role model. Remember that guys. You'll find many of them are; poets, musicians, philosophers, mystics, spiritualists and artists in general. Those who manage to pull themselves out of that lifestyle (assuming they arent living it by choice as thats quite common too in certain parts of the world; warmer climates, typically) actually manage to do remarkably well for themselves as they've been to rock bottom and survived it. When you can survive rock bottom and come out of it with your sanity intact, you can accomplish just about anything.
