  • Cleaning of the printer head of the Brother MFC 6490CW.
Isopropanol is used only for cleaning of excess ink. DO NOT use this to clean the printer head!
I only changed the cartridges because they were depleting, and after rinsing the printer head you need to start printerhead cleaning in the printer menu.
If the operation doesn't succeed on the first attempt, you are to repeat rinsing. (In this instance, you need to repeat rinsing the yellow)
Footage was sped up at some sections.

Thank you so much for video. I find new menthod by looking this. No need to remove any parts & fix all missing print head. Send 1 print from computer. As soon as it start unplug power cable.
Take papper towen & do couple of fold. Soak with after shave or alchohol + few drops of water. Keep soaked papper on printer as in video. Rub printhead on papper. Leave print head few minutes.
Repate process couple of times. I did 10 times with new papper tower. Fold three or four towel & repeat process as in video. I bring back my printer :) 100 % work.

Thank you , Sir. It's the second time I have to make this (forgot to keep it plugged and self-cleaning was not made). Hope you and the kitten are good.

The magic fluid is WATER. Put the paper towel in under the print head as shown in the video. Pour a little water onto the paper towel. Move the print head over the wet spot and let sit for a little bit. Move the print head back and forth a few times and remove the paper towel. Repeat if you don't see all the colors on the paper towel.
There is no need for "print head cleaning fluid", a syringe, tube. Just a little water on a paper towel worked for me.

EN: What is internal diameter of the tube you use to plug into printer (and where should I look for such tubes).

So I pushed cleaning solution through to Brother MFC-250C printhead, I've done it and each ink passage goes all the way through to the printhead as shown by soaked paper towel placed underneath, no clogs, then ran several test prints and printhead cleanings and only got maybe a faint print from the cyan, then nothing. Is the circuitry broken or something? The printer seems to think everything is fine. Must I push solution through again? I don't get the point as there is clearly no clog.

tried this method, made the printer even worse afterward... was having trouble with magenta and lost cyan as well after this. i think my printhead is screwed. also made a gigantic mess, as ink/solution came out of the other empty ports while squirting this stuff in. it's worth trying for a last ditch effort though, i guess

  • @mohammedmohammedsaeed9547

Tried this method with Brother MFC-480DW, i managed to inject the liquid into the Yellow color pipes, i could see the liquid came out at the klenex under the printer head, but still no Yellow color when testing the printer.

FYI. Long ago I purchased an ear wax cleaning kit. It had a large bulb 'dropper' made of green rubber. Since it was opaque, I cut off the small tube portion of the dropper, fit it snugly over the end of my syringe, and then cut down the other end to a size that would slip over the ink nozzle. Unfortunately, no clear tube between the syringe and the nozzle, but was able to gently persuade the solution through the system.

You can also do deep cleeaning function as well. Turn off the printer, then press Menu and contemporary switch on the printer, the press 7 and then 6 and then 4. So you can start the laboratory cleaning procedure! Bye !!

Jeśli dobrze zrozumiałem, najpierw wstrzyknąłeś rozgrzany płyn do płukania (czyszczenia) głowicy. Następnie do wyczyszczenia resztek użyłeś alkoholu izopropylowego (butelka z oznaczeniem SHL (UK))?
Jakiego płynu użyłeś do czyszczenia głowicy?
    Pozdrawiam

      @Matitiasz  Před 6 lety

Zgadza się. Izopropanolu, użyłem tylko do czyszczenia "sprzętu", (strzykawki, rurki, obudowy drukarki ).
A jaki środek do czyszczenia ?
skład to np. około 30% izopropanol + 70% płynu do czyszczenia szyb.

Hey Matitiasz, Thanks for this video but you could have given us a little more details such as If you forbid using IsoPropanol what then should be used? Furthermore, why are you using two different liquids? what are they? Please reply with those important details. Thanks (PS: I cant read PL ??? )

    • @Matitiasz
      @Matitiasz  Před 6 lety +3

I intentionally didn't give the name of the cleaning fluid, I don't get paid to advertise, and the choice of cleaning fluid is quite large. One can even make their own. For example, a formula could be 30% isopropanol and 70% window cleaner (without any additives). Look for formulas/recipes yourself as there are many. In the film I only used pure isopropanol to clean the exterior of the printer and the syringes themselves.

I think it could be either Acetone, Xylene, Toluene, Kerosene, Methyl alcohol, Ethyl Alcohol, Gasoline, or water. I am guessing that it is not Isopropyl alcohol because the description says, "Isopropanol is used only for cleaning of excess ink. DO NOT use this to clean the printer head!"
Now I just need to find a video that actually shows how to clean my print heads instead of a video that leaves you guessing.

I bought this printer czcams.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 to replace an aging HP printer. It is just used for casual home printing so I don't need anything more. Installation went easily though the HP Smart Printing doesn't work well with our laptops - having to select the actual device. Will have to see how the HP Instant Ink program works out. Plus haven't been able to set up printing from smartphone yet - either direct or WiFi
