  • Here's a video showing the LED Lighting upgrades I did to my L6060. Opt'd to go with high quality lighting on this project vs budget lights as a personal preference, but the info will hopefully be useful in any case. Thanks!

    Love it! I do commercial snow removal. I cheaped out and replaced the work lights with Trux led with built in side strobes. Less than $200 for all 4.
    It works perfect with the strobes wired to turn signal/hazards BUT I didn’t take into account on tractors how the opposite side stays solid when turning so now when I use the turn signal both sides strobe. As these are strobe only both sides strobe when turning but they are now out of sync. So close but no cigar, I need that dual mode like yours have 👌 Your setup is perfect.

    Thanks for a great video with much useful information about LED lights for the Grand L. Could you please include ''links' for the LED headlight bulbs you recommend - both the lower main front hi/lo H4 bulb AND the upper side light GTR bulb 7000 series? It would help out a lot. Thanks.

      I finally ordered the new bulbs for the front. Thanks! I choose the same two types. I was looking at the Feniex Fusion LEDs and could only find single colors OR one with 4 colors. Could you please provide either type model and/or a link to them. Maybe they are no longer made.?. I really like the look of the ones you choose and how the colors vary between the two color version LEDs you choose.@@Longslyde1

      @davidolchewsky5365 yes, it looks like they might have went to the 4 color lights instead. I did find a couple suppliers that showed dual color, but I bet they can't actually get them. Any they actually wanted more money for the dual color too. I haven't worked with the 4 color myself yet, but I'd bet they can be programmed the same to get the net result.

      If you look at my channel, I've been installing Fenix turn signal/Back up light system on multiple Polaris General and Rangers years ago, along with their Flasher module. Been using Fenix ever since. Just made sense to use them on the tractor too since I've had good luck...I've never been on the Kubota forums so I'm not sure what setup you used. Maybe you used my idea? Lol! 😄 Fenix makes some good lights...used many of them.

    I noticed your switches are all on the front of the headliner. Were you not able to just splice into the factory work light wiring and switches on the right pillar?

    • @Longslyde1
      @Longslyde1  Před 3 lety +1

      I am using each of the side switches for the side illumination front and rear since those use a very small wire guage. They were sufficient to run the smaller lights but not the larger XL80's. Besides it was nice to separate them so I could choose which lights are on at a given time. So I have 4 switches total to run the white lights as well as one to run the strobes.

    This is what I need! I have a Kubota L6060 with a front mounted commercial blower and Land Pride adjustable backblade and most of my snow removal in the winter is in the dark. So I am very interested in your lighting project. The Kubota lights just don't do much for me. But looking up all of the lights that you used that must have been close to $4,000 with lights, switches, wiring, the fuse panel and relay. That seems like quite an investment in lighting. Can you share any information in writing like the switches you used/where purchased from, maybe where you got the other materials you used, etc.? Mark

    • @Longslyde1
      @Longslyde1  Před 2 lety

      Yeah, if a guy goes and buys this all new at one shot, you'll be into it pretty deep. I had the squadrons left over from another project. People will argue that $30 light pods will work great. I've had to work on units that guys used those on, and they take on moisture very quickly especially blowing snow with the heating and rapid cooling when snow gets on them. They are not sealed very well and tend to go bad quickly. Some have better luck than others. But the cheap lights also put out too much blue light for me. Or "Diamond White" as they like to call it. It's tiring to my eyes but that is all personal preference. If the tractor is something you will keep for a long time, I recommend the "Buy once, Cry Once" approach. You need them to work when you need them! You wouldn't have to take it as far as I did to get a good amount of light. 4 Squadron Pros on the roof would probably surprise you how much an improvement it is over factory lights. I've seen guys use those on the factory wiring and they worked. Almost pug and play that way. But keep in mind the factory wiring for the roof light uses 18-20 gauge wire which technically is too light for higher power leds. Kubota skimped there. Should wire it with 14 gauge minimum to those lights.
      I used 4 - XL80 Baja Designs with scene lens, and 4 Squadron Pro Baja Designs with flood lens for the main lighting. 2- Feniex Fusion led in Amber Red and 4 in Amber/White for the Strobes and signals. I used GTR Lighting's equivalent to bulb number 7440 for Kubota's Front Side Lights. Morimoto 2-Stroke 3.0 bulbs for the headlights (H4 Bulb Equivalent). For the wiring, I used 6 gauge cable from the battery immediately to a 50 amp circuit breaker at the front of the tractor and ran it up the pillar to the roof of the tractor. Installed a Blue Seas fuse block with 6 fuses but you can pick one with as many as you like down to 4 and up. All of this you can search on google for the best pricing as that always changes on who has the best deal. But one thing I ALWAYS get from one source is the switches. I get those from OTRATTW.com. They are a bit more money that say Mic Tuning, but FAR better quality. Knock on wood, I have never had one go bad to date and the switches are really solid. They are built in Mexico by the same suppliers the the Auto and Ag OEMs use. I used switches from China and Taiwan and both had a high failure rate and just felt cheap. Most of the terminals pulled right out if you had to unplug a good 1/4"
      spade terminal after it was installed. and they weren't water resistant. YMMV, but I've been through enough of those replacements to not use them again.

      @@Longslyde1 Thanks for the info! I was wondering if the light switches that came with my Kubota are rated for the amp draw these larger lights will pull. I will do more digging and see what I can come up with. The headlights on my tractor are useless if I am driving forward with blower up, for example if I am pulling snow with the back blade. The top 4 lights (2 in front and 2 in back) would be the first ones I would replace. Then the amber lights in back keep breaking off. They get hit by tree branches or something and break easily so your idea of the fusions look like a better solution to me. But I am like you, I have found it just doesn't pay to buy things just because they are cheap. Usually end up failing and replacing them again. I may have more questions for you but thanks this helps!

    Thanks for the info! Where did you purchase the lights and bulbs? Did you video the installations of all the lights? Tim

    • @Longslyde1
      @Longslyde1  Před 3 lety +3

      I didn't video that actual install since I haven't done these machines before so it was a test for this model. I normally do UTV's as you can see in my channel. But the install were very similar in principle. I ran a 8 gauge auxiliary power wire with a 60 amp circuit break right at the battery through the front door pillar in the cab to the roof. That connected to a relay actuated fuse panel. I activated the relay off the radio power wire (Accessory activated) so the lights would turn on and off with the key. The strobes were wired in conjunction with the factory wiring as well as an additional switch for strobe only function. (the Feniex dual color lights have two modes, I run through how this works in my lighting series videos for utvs in my channel.).
      As for the purchase of the lights, I googled reliable distributors and purchased from the ones that had them in stock. It seems the deals and availability always changes so it's best to just do a search. If you decide to do an install like this and have questions, feel free to ask questions. I'll help where I can! :)

    • @Longslyde1
      @Longslyde1  Před 2 lety

      None here. All the lights I used on this project were high quality. I've never had any issues with brand name lights but I have run into issues with the really low budget lights. They tend to give off a lot of RFI. Another issue could be your grounds. Make sure they are clean and tight to the frame of the tractor. Bad grounds can cause issues also.
