Do u not hear those runs? I've hear a lot and I mean a lot of singers, celebs sing this. And I have to say just absolutely wow!!! Those runs give me the chills. Y doesn't anyone say anything about Marvin Gaye singing it in the 84 all star game? Doesn't matter who sings this it's the most beautiful song that we will EVER hear..

I played that song before so many football and basketball games years ago when I was in high school and we didn't embellish it anything like singers have done for at least 10 years now. She actually stays close to the tune unlike so many.

Sometimes when it gets outlandish , I agree it can be "butchered" . However, if it's a tasteful remake on a song like this I have no issue. Therefore , I have no issue with her doing it her own way , but still remaining true to the song .
The National Anthem holds much traditional meaning,,, should be sung with spirit that comes with authentic value. Vocal technique, youth recognition has no significant purpose. Whitney Houston sang it like no other, Beyoncé came in pretty close, but it’s in the heart of any true artist, with a certain amount of experience of life that brings forth all the difference that this song maintains, and all its glory. 🌹

yeah, there's several vid's from earlier years where she sang the National Anthem. And while I like her, I wish she along with everyone else wouldn't butcher the song by trying to make it "their own".
I dislike how some singers feel like they have to put their own "interpretation" on the national anthem. Just sing the thing the way it was written. Makes you wonder if they ever have looked at the sheet music for the song. She was no worse than any of the others who do this but I wish the trend would go back to just singing it like it was written.

making it your own or doing it your own way doesn't necessarily mean butchering it. In this case she didn't. She nailed it, like she always does.
