I've been on that cruise ship! back when it was called "Celebration" and the port of call was Galveston. I had gone on a trip to Mexico on it. Nice smaller boat, but it gets the job done.
Oh know you didn't go there. Mexicans don't need a cruise, they just swim in on there backs. May God forgive me. But at least I'm telling the truth. I was born here but when I walk down the street, go to work, go shopping, out to eat, I see more of y'all than whites or blacks now. When my children came up in the school system I can't honestly remember seeing any Mexicans now the public and charter schools that my grandchildren attend is almost all Latinos.

Let us hope the Bahamian government sets strict building codes so that flimsy wooden houses are not built in the inundation zones in the places where other flimsy houses were recently destroyed. Let us hope locals can have the option of living in sturdy new condo towers well above the hurricane zone. No one should die because their house gets torn apart by a hurricane or a storm surge. We have the technology right now to built hurricane-resistant buildings that can save lives.

Just that this hurricane was really strong. What builders ought to do now is make the houses with circular shapes so that the wind slides around the houses, and also put houses on stilts so that people have a head start against flooding. It would be pretty cool if every house was also a submarine.. but they hiding that type of ingenuity from us.

The question is whether the local government will just do nothing and allow people to re-build the same flimsy wooden structures in the surge zone and see the same death and destruction the next time a powerful hurricane strikes.
