Zoey 101 is such a weird show to get a reboot movie because it makes the point that she peaked in high school.
ESP cause the ENTIRE TEAM from Neds Declassified pitched a idea that Nick Rejected outright All 3 leads were on board so were the creators and most of the old cast were even game for at least a cameo
@Darkest Argentum you do realize its cause of something called ratings and they are going off of the ratings of when they aired.
It was different from all other kid shows which is what made it good
@Zack Minoskeif going off ratings this movie sucked
@DWBOY14 no shit, still doesn't change the fact that is why this was made over Neds Declassified
In the original series, nearly EVERY character was a thousand times more interesting than Zoey, yet she was the title character. Not much has changed in 15 years, then.
Zoey in the show was so annoying and bratty. Not surprised that she hasn’t changed
i'm guessing there was a lot less Tricking her older sister into verbally abusing another actor behind the scenes
Yeah, character had substance, her acting, however...
@Darkest Argentumlmao how do you trick an adult to yell at a kid that is not your own. Btw brittney is a dead beat mom while Jamie raises her kids so who is the bad person here
The iCarly revival actually gets better after season 1. Zoey 102 is an example of how not to do a reunion movie.
I'm actually bummed that I can't give it chance for me Sam was a huge appeal of the show I'm just not that into Carly and Freddie as characters and I was told that Spencer is not even making sculptures anymore? Idk maybe it's worth a watch
@Aldo VallierI say give it a chance. While Jennette has stated that she has moved on from that era of her life, other characters have appeared as cameos or have recurring roles, and honestly its still fine to me. Season 3 finale cliffhanger has me hyped for season 4. In fact, I believe outside of Star Trek, this is Paramount’s most successful show. I never thought it would survive this far, but here we are. I want to tell you what happened in the season 3 finale, but idk if you want me to spoil it for you?
@Reanna Gordon aight I'll take your word for it, can I skip season 1? Or is it a must watch for season 2? I do miss the show
Season 2 sucked
The appeal of Zoey 101 was the fantasy California boarding school with seemingly no adult supervision--PCA was the point. Why wasn't this a high school reunion movie?
Overdone, that's probably why. If this is how they do THIS then I wouldn't expect better
They probably didn’t do a high school reunion movie because literally basically every other project is about that and every other show talks about high school reunions.
I do agree, though it is kind of weird to not even like show the school besides the ending of the movie
I'm not necessarily a fan of reboots, but this was definitely a missed opportunity for a new series.
Cause reunion movies are kinda weird. Like if you cared about the people, you’d just stay in touch. Which a lot of them did besides Zoey and chase which felt organic. Plus they made it a point to say pca was closed down for not being a “real school” which I thought was a funny callback to this school not being realistic at all.
Exactly what I said! I mean the reboot wasn’t necessary but if they were gonna make one I think they should’ve done a 10 yr high school reunion would’ve been way more fun and nostalgic
Everyone actually wanted Ned’s Adult Declassified (which even the old cast tried to pitch to the company) but we got this instead. Glad the cast have a podcast
Ned would’ve been way better but not every show needs a reboot
Ned actually makes sense as a reboot and honestly would serve a purpose. We need adulting tips.
I absolutely loved Ned's Declassified. I can't wait until my kids are in middle school so I can watch it with them lol
That's not true. This was in the works before they pitched Ned's Declassified
You can tell Dan Schneider was nowhere near this project because Zoey isn't written as a perfect Mary Sue who is good at everything and never wrong about anything. If Dan was in charge, Zoey would be a super successful TV producer, a pediatric oncologist, and the world's greatest pop star.
And There Wasn't A Foot Scene Every 5 Seconds.
@Collin Keyser I saw in a trailer that a foot scene was added anyways though. In some hottub or swimming pool Michael asks people to look at his foot.
@Salvador Luna Oh. Sorry. I Haven't Seen It.
I'll be honest as much as I wouldn't want that creep back, this movie would have been funnier if she's be that barbieesque extra with her careers.
Ikr
It doesn’t take a genius to realize this was the corp heads at paramounts doing
Honestly good for Victoria Justice for not being involved with this crap
Also Paul Butcher (who played Zoey’s younger brother Dustin) and Austin Butler (who played James in the last season)
@Laura Cerqueira MachadoAnd of course, Alexa Nikolas
@Aidan Mallon and Kristin Herrera (who played Dana)
@Laura Cerqueira Machadobasically bc they all hated jamie, which i get
Zoey and Quinn were never really “Best Friends” on the show. In the first two season’s, Zoey’s best friend was Nicole, but Jamie Lynn Spears bullied Nicole’s actress so the character was written out. And by Season 3, Lola was closer to Quinn than Zoey, so Zoey became a more isolated character. Especially by Season 4. And they basically have Zoey act like she’s close to Quinn because Victoria Justice didn’t bother to show up cause she had better things to do.
Zoey outright called Quinn a freak
@videohistory722 they all called Quinn a freak because she was
i don’t remember lola being closer to quinn. was she?
Victoria Justice seeing Jamie Lynn and Ariana Grande burning in hell with a glass of wine and a white cat on her lap while laughing maniacally
Uhhhh one of this is one of the most famous pop stars ever
After the horrible way that Jamie Lynn has spoken about and treated her sister who has openly been diagnosed with mental illness, and openly been drugged and basically but into a working sl*very by her father for over a decade, I am very, very pleased to see this reboot flop.
@Please Shut Up The whole Spears family is a mess tbh. The conservatorship happened because of the way Brittany was acting in the 2000s. Of course Jamie was no better there, but wouldn't Brittany be any better off without that sort of intervention? You think her child star syndrome couldn't easily become worse or potentionally dangerous from there? Just sayin.
because of those very reasons i would think she woudln't get a reboot but look she did and it sucked.
@Please Shut Upidk why people always put shaving her head on this list. Shaving your head isn't a symptom of mental illness. And she had legitimate reasons behind shaving her head. She just wanted more control of her life and her image, and was sick of people controlling what she looked like, which is a legitimate thing to want.
The lack of interaction between Chase and Michael was truly criminal
Right. The guys had WAY better friendships than the girls.
As someone who was a huge fan of the show growing up & still loved it on a recent rewatch… no Alex, a sequel movie REALLY isn’t something I was clamoring for.
I really missed Nicole on the show and hope one day she can move on from the trauma she experienced maybe one day call truce with Jamie
You didn't want a reboot of your beloved show in the most sterile cookie cutter kids movie formatm
Yeah I feel the same thing about “Life with Luca”, the “Life with Derek” sequel movie released earlier this year that isn’t as bad as Zoey 102 but it’s quite harmful for the fandom and Dasey shippers just by existing, you see we all shipped Derek and Casey but obviously they couldn’t have the two of them dating in the show but gladly the way it ended kept many open doors for the two of them so the shippers wrote thousands of fanfics about the two of them being together after the series finale, but this new movie closes these open doors by saying what canonically happened to them and it turns out they did not get together after the series finally and they married other people, had kids and divorced just so they could meet again in this new movie and “reconnect through parenting”, it’s nice that the cast had fun working together again but I just can’t enjoy this movie and I rather pretend it doesn’t exist, I guess this must be how Zoey and Chase shippers feel about Zoey 102
@Laura Cerqueira Machado had no idea about life with Luca ima watch it. Casey was my woman back in the day
@Please Shut Up okay but be aware that they pretty much ruined our Dasey fantasies, they did the exact same thing Alex said in this video the series finally implied that the two of them would end up together right after that but then this movie says “oh the thing is they never really got together in 15 years, but they will now!”
Surprised they even TRIED to attempt this reboot after all the backlash Jamie Lynn Spears got with all the Britney situation.
What did she do to Britney?
@Sandra Aranda SanchezAccording To Britney's Fans, Jamie Lynn Stole Money From Her Sister.
@collinkeyser6827 I think the court cases actually had evidence for that though
@Collin Keyser that's messed up
fun fact: almost everyone only watched this movie for Quinn and Logan anyways
And that’s exactly why their wedding is the main plot. They knew people wouldn’t watch it otherwise. I only watched for Quinn, Logan and Michael and i wish there was more of them
Yeah, Quinn and Logan's wedding was the real selling point to me too.
I might watch it once just for them
Agreed. Same. Quinn & Logan's wedding it's the only selling point.
I watched it despite Quinn and Logan, because they are a terrible couple lol
It’s funny how Austin Butler played the least important main character on the show and became the most famous out of all of them.
Strangely the main character is almost never the breakout star. Kind of like how victorious was supposed to launch Victoria Justice’s career but Ariana became the most famous by a long shot
Yes, Keyan Carlile made a video about the movie “MinuteMen” and there was a moment there where he talked about how now he realized there are 3 sorts of kid shows celebrities:
-those who sing, their shows launched their careers and they became so popular that even after their show ended whatever they work at will be a success because their fans will give it a watch just because they know they’re there (like Selena Gomez in “Only Murderers in the Building”)
-those who don’t sing, they made some pretty great shows but they will most likely be still only recognized by the roles they played when they were kids which makes it harder for them to find new roles nowadays and they mostly just do podcasts (like most actors from Lab Rats, Good Luck Charlie, etc)
-those who played several decent roles but still managed to stay below the radar, they got experience, they have a nice background and thanks to that they had better odds of getting greater roles in the future (like Austin Butler, Jenna Ortega, Evan Peters, etc)
Actually Victoria Justice is
@DarthRaider Nah, Austin Butler is getting blockbuster roles now. Nominated for multiple awards and won a few.
I would say him and Victoria Justice. I thought it would've been Erin Sanders too after she was on Big Time Rush
The main selling point of the show was PCA...not zoey. It was the ideal fantasy school by the beach with no parents. So a reboot without PCA is just a hallmark movie with a famous IP. Also, Victoria Justice is not the only one missing 😂 Austin Butler...but i don't think he would be turning down Dune 2 for this 😂😂😂
Also Paul Butcher who played Dustin, I guess he didn’t want to come back because he really doesn’t like Jamie Lynn and he had to go through some very creepy stuff when he was a kid in the show
@Laura Cerqueira Machadoi actually heard he wasn’t invited back but i wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t come back bc he doesn’t like Jamie
@kickinbackwithKeira Oh so I suppose that was because during the Free Britney movement he posted in his social medias that he totally supported Britney which may look like it’s no big deal but for the Zoey 101 cast it really was because being on Britney’s side meant being against Jamie Lynn’s (since she helped their father exploit Britney and all) he even made an interview about the videoclip the cast made back in 2020 and he said that Jamie Lynn was kinda ignorant to him and the original cast members and she was more interest in pleasing her other celebrity friends who showed up
@Laura Cerqueira Machado so it’s possible that even if he was invited back he wouldn’t have done it cause I honestly don’t know if him not being invited is true
@kickinbackwithKeira me neither but I guess it makes sense, Slo4n made a video about it, actually he made a bunch of videos about all the controversies around the Zoey 101 cast
My 20 year high school reunion just happened and I definitely decided to pass. I have zero desire to hang out with a bunch of people I haven't talked to in two decades. I wish movies and shows would stop focusing on the whole "having to impress people you literally haven't even thought about in years" storyline.
Hell I graduated high school last year and I already have no interest in seeing those people ever again. Everyone I wanted to say in touch with, I’m still in touch with
I missed my ten year high school reunion due to Covid
Still not mad lol the only people I really care about I still talk to or follow on IG and send stupid memes back and forth with 🤣
yeah I'm 6 years graduated & I didn't hate my time there but I refuse to look back
Quinn was already prettier than Zoe on the show but goddamn she's like so gorgeous now.
I hate how she was supposed to be like the ugly one because she was quirky and dressed weird...
@Marit de Vriesshe was never portrayed as ugly. She was portrayed as weird and a spazz because she was
@Please Shut Up I'm pretty sure even if wasn't said outright there are scenes that imply that same with Coco they never outright say it but they imply it
@Marit de Vries She's so much prettier than Zoe now that is hilarious she wasn't the lead but no one else in the cast could've made the Quinn character work
@Aldo Vallier Quinn always had guys hitting on her what are you talking about. She was never portrayed as ugly. In fact her friends always made fun of her for being with mark because they implied she can do better. They literally do the episode when mark dumps her and she dresses “hot”everyone says go back to looking like Quinn not mini skirt.
All I got out of this was that in the 17ish years since the original show ended not 1 cast member took an acting class.
I thought Quinn and Michael held their ground pretty well(mostly Quinn). I agree that everyone else was pretty lackluster.
Yes. I tried to watch the original not too long ago and I couldn’t. The acting was rough. Paul and Victoria were the best.
Well I actually do wholeheartedly agree and there’s not a-list potential in the whole cast, they all did a perfect replication of their Zoey 101 characters. I feel like if they had improved, a lot of those little quirks and mannerisms might have been worked out and it wouldn’t feel like the same character. For that reason, I think they all did a perfect job of reviving these old characters.
Also, the fact that the ending implies another movie to come, really made me roll my eyes honestly. Like no. This one was bad enough.
Not just any movie! Spinoff with the other characters!
I’d love to see a movie focused on Quinn and Logan. I adore how they’re so in love ❤
I can't wait!
@Sirmel11 Honestly, I dont want a second 102. This one was so dumb.
@wonholywife-woongi We all have different opinions! I thought the beginning was a little slow and the reality TV aspect was weird but it all came together by the end.
The fact they bring back all these background characters like we’re meant to remember who they are
Many people do remember them l
Who doesn’t remember del figs Quinn’s ex bf and Stacey the cotton swab girl
@Please Shut UpI remember him but tbh I don’t really remember the girl, the only reason I now she existed is because not too long ago I watched a video about the finale 😅
?? the fact you don’t remember characters that were in almost in every episode
I watched this movie for the Quinn and Logan plotline. They were my favorite couple in the show even back in the day. Zoey's character still has no life and feels more soulless than in 101. 102 was just a dumpster fire of half-baked ideas. Michael, Quinn, and Logan were standouts, though.
Those 3 were the reason y this was somewhat watchable
Is Nicole and Dana in the movie?
@Shivers Coyote AJNope they are not
The one I would like to be rebooted is Ned’s Declassified. Especially since the actors want it SO BAD too. And it would actually serve a purpose. To help you through life. Except adulthood instead of middle school
Don't forget how back in the day, the Creator actually pitched a spin-off sequel where the characters are in high school but then Nickelodeon rejected it. Meanwhile Nickelodeon is making another Fairly OddParents reboot, like as if everybody was begging for that.
Also nick please give us the Patakis 🙏
Didn't even bother watching the movie. Waited for this exact video to give me all I needed. Thank you, Alex.
Same tbfh
My only criticism is that it was too long. I got high and I loved the movie. Some good laughs. 6.8/10
@Daniel Richardsonif you were high and it’s still only a 6.8 it must really be bad
@bat yeah it was a little too long.
_Don't really care about either the movie or the show, I'm just amazed at the fact that Jamie Lynn Spears looks even older than her _*_older_*_ sister Britney, like how is that even possible???_
Lmaoo i shouldn’t be laughing at this 😭
in this case: surgery
Yeah she looks rough. In a few years she's gonna look older than their mom.
Karma
My thoughts exactly 😮
Being reminded that there are real people who flippantly thirst over actual and recent murders of other real people, makes me realize that aliens probably have a big ol “DO NOT CROSS” tape across our planet
At this point, they are actively hiding from us😭
It’s annoying how all these reboots of shows and movies from our childhood gets so far away from the original source material. The only good reboot/sequel I seen that did a great job at continuing the story from the original source material is Cobra Kai.
Yes! Cobra Kai did a fantastic job! It’s the only reboot/sequel that I have enjoyed
I feel like that 90ties Show also did quite good?
Don't forget iCarly. The iCarly reboot is really good.
The exact same thing happened with Life with Derek, you see we all shipped Derek and Casey but of course they couldn’t show the two of them dating in the show itself but gladly the way it ended left many open doors for the fans to write a lot of fanwork about how the two of them got together after the series finale, however they made this new movie Life with Luca released earlier this year which isn’t as bad as Zoey 102 but it’s harmful to the fandom just for existing because in this movie Casey and Derek apparently didn’t get together after the series finale, they married other people, had kids and got divorced just so they could meet each other again 15 years later and “reconnect through parenting”, the fandom was kept alive because of the doors they left open after the show ended but this movie tells us about what canonically happened to the characters which closes these doors. It’s nice that the cast had fun working together again but I just can’t enjoy this movie, I rather pretend it doesn’t exist, I guess that must be how Zoey and Chase shippers feel about Zoey 102
Ok but like do you people who watch cobra Kai really think the writing is actually good or sumthin? I mean don't get me wrong the shows cool and fun but it's so god damn goofy lmao
The thing with ICarly, is that while not a lot of people asked for it, it justifies its existence beyond nostalgia
Its one of those shows where it gets better after season 1. It must be very popular on Paramount+ to survive this long.
@Reanna Gordonany show can survive with good writing, a Zoey 101 reboot could have worked if they just written it better and justified it’s existence other than Zoey not letting go of her highschool crush 15 years later
You know icarly has great writing and it nurtured enough for the older crowd but also is still “ kiddish” zoey202 is just not it
@Ragnaric Studios Agreed, I absolutely despise that they basically tore down the Zoey and Chase relationship just to give us the same exact ending all over again. Zoey 102 would have been 100x better if it focused on their lives as adults after PCA rather than overstaying the welcome of the Zoey and Chase dynamic. (Oh, and I also thought it was complete bullshit that PCA turned out to not be a "real school", that's like the worst thing they could have done to the story IMO)
@Reanna Gordonthe new iCarly is not really that good. It's watchable but it's not something I will remember in a few years
The hatred of Jamie Lynn towards her sister didn't age her well
Hate/resentment will do that to a person…
they shouldve gave the neds declassified reboot the greenlit instead
Fr
As much as I'd love that, I would argue that Victorious, Side Hustle, I Am Frankie, The Barbarian and The Troll, Supah Ninjas and The Astronauts deserve a revival more than Ned's. At least the show HAD a proper ending.
Tho, I already know it's not possible for either of them to get a revival. Victorious is the oldest of my examples, therefore the most popular. And yet, who knows if they can even afford to get Ariana to do a cameo? In spite of the problems with all of my examples, especially Supah Ninjas, I believe they deserve it compared to shit like Planet Sheen that deserve to be forgotten.
Agreed, seeing how the actors on that show are still super close, even doing a podcast together.
@A Ja reboot of ned imo is better because a survival guide for adults is a great idea. they alrdy pitched it to nick but they said stuff like its cool but not now, holding it to the side. the main cast and original creator is all together wanting it and willing to pay to make it but they arent allowed it
Exactly
Zoey is the real villain of this movie. Ruins a show, ruined friends wedding and get rewarded for it by deus ex machina
I think Alex might have missed the actual parody of Stacey’s podcast: yes, it’s clearly a true crime spoof- but it’s more so a call back to the original show when she couldn’t pronounce her S’s properly because of the braces she wore. So now she’s brace free and she’s created a podcast completely centered around the letter S… genius!
No she had a lisp even without the braces! That’s why people are so upset about that missing piece.
@laxx4lifechey I could’ve sworn her lisp went away before the show ended….?
@Buttuhmilk It did (but then came back when she was on some other show?). I'm glad we don't consider speech impediments to be hilarious anymore.
@Julia O. that’s why all the S’s in her podcast made me laugh lol, I was like “yeah she’s rubbing it in everyone’s face” 🤣 even if that’s not the case I love that for Stacey lmaoooo
Let’s be honest, Zoey 101 was very charming and the whole idea that there was a huge school on the beach with no parents was the coolest idea ever when we were kids, but the acting and writing were definitely the worst of the Schneider shows, next to Sam & Cat at least. I’ll always love the original show cause I grew up watching it but watching it years later makes me realize how bad some of it was lol. It did not need a reboot, it has a fine finale.
Edit: My favorite three shows of that era will always be Drake and Josh, iCarly and Victorious. The iCarly reboot is much much better than this attempted reboot movie. It knows it’s audience isn’t children anymore, and honestly it keeps getting better with each season.
Ned's Declassified Adulting Survival Guide is the only Nick reboot that makes logical sense.
Erin sanders is gorgeous and still hasn’t completely been forgotten as an actor like the rest of them. She did not need to be in this sad attempt of a comeback
She's beautiful and seems to have a noble heart, so maybe she did it out of love for the show that made her known. In addition, she is also very talented and apparently her life is not acting, it is clear that the actress is passionate about other things in her day to day, and she does not die for cheap fame or fast money.
He's right. Hard to move out of your parents house these days. Really shouldn't make fun of it anymore. Once we get rid of the skyrocketing rental prices, home prices, and student loans, then you can complain about a 30 year old still living with his parents.
"The economy stinks, bees are dying, movies are all pretty much sequels now..." This one quote from New Girl is still true a decade later.
Even though nobody asked, the least that they could've done was make it better... why not explore Quinn and Logan's relationship? Or maybe tell a story from Chase's point of view? So many missed opportunities
The thing I notice most with sequels and reboots to childhood shows, is that they want to be given a pat on the back for letting their characters grow up-yet they're still too afraid to let them grow up and become new people. The plots always have to mirror each other instead accepting that the audience is older and people change
It was really weird to me that they decided to do this reboot after all of the horrible things that happened to the actress who played Nicole came out. Everyone including the actors has been clamoring for a neds declassified reboot for years but noooooo, we have to get Zoey 101 after it's entire reputation was bombed. The heck?
Revival not reboot
I think Jamie lyn thought her book was enough for people to think what happened to Nicole was a lie
Think about this: Jamie Lynn Spears being so horrible to Alexa Nikolas caused her to leave the show, forcing the writers to push Victoria Justice to the forefront. Viacom was so confident with this move that they gave her a starring role in the show Victorious and a record deal. This effectively forced co-star Ariana Grande out of the system and made her go independant, which led to her being more successful than anyone could've predicted as a music artist.
THE ONLY THING WE NEEDED to as ONE episode where they go dig up the time capsule and give up some past memories flash backs…… THATS IT
They did do that years ago. Chase was interested in zoey still amd everything but i guess it got retconned
Nobody asked for this show and nobody asked to see Jamie Lynn Spears acting again 😂
If you want a commentary about the endless reboots of popular shows, I recommend The Daydreams. The book is about the cast of a early 2000s teen show(think High School Musical meets The OC) where a fight occurs on live television and the show gets canceled after two seasons. Many years later, they do a reunion where old wounds are opened and questions are answered on why the show ended abruptly.
Agreed, thanks for your recommendation. That book sounds far more entertaining than the dozens of unnecessary reboots being spawned out.
I haven't read it but will after I finish another book. I've read The Unraveling of Cassidy Holmes and I enjoyed the book though I wish they added more. Hayley Aldridge was a much better book.
sounds interesting! thank you for sharing, i'll check it out
I’m pretty sure your example “poor person apartment” was the one from Glee. I will never understand how Kurt and Rachel afforded that in New York, not to mention at first Rachel bought it on her own.
Just watched the rest of the video and saw that the one guy from glee that R age, dated in New York is playing the exact same character in this
Once she was headlining a play on Broadway, it makes more sense for her to have an apartment like that.
@TacticusPrime but she got the apartment before broadway
@Lucy Garrett Yeah, her and Kurt living there on basically no salary was obviously ridiculous. But that sort of thing goes back a long way. Look at the preposterous apartments that the Friends lived in.
@Lucy GarrettI always love it whenever Hollywood try to show how poor this person is, but fail miserably because you know Hollywood. My favorite example of this is Nancy Downs from The Craft. And while I do love the craft, and while they did nail the lower income house right; they forgot that people can easily tell that a person is poor or lower-income based on the clothing they wear. Look up "Nancy Downs outfits" and tell me if you think that girl is poor. Also I love how the costume Department pretty much just said "How do we show if Nancy is poor? Just have her zillions of outfits be made of slightly cheaper material, that will show them."
Jamie has further proved she's only famous because her sibling is the actual talented one
If you really hate long weddings, you should see an indian wedding. Its just 4 straight days of food and talking to random uncles who apparently you’ve met 30 times but you still have no clue who they are😅
Edit: thank you for all the likes😅❤
Those older distant relatives who you don't remember are the worst! They always remember everything about you and you're just like "Oh it's... uhhh... you!"
Oh god four days... That's hell right there
I thought our Armenian weddings are exhausting but I'm glad they are at least not four days lol.
Four days?!? My socializing meter would run out but the food.. the food is tempting
African weddings are the same except the bride and groom get there at 3 in the morning
Honestly if you’re not enjoying there, you’re the problem not the wedding
The only positive thing about this movie is that you can see Quinn('s actress) have a total glow-up
Honestly, the chances of this sequel being popular ever is lower than the chances of PCA ever existing
Lmao, I don't know about that.
I was never the biggest fan of Zoey 101, and now even less after learning about all the drama behind the scenes. But this just goes to show that networks just wanted a quick money grab
people DEFINITELY wanted a movie or a reunion but then the Free Brittany thing happen and then the majority of people lost interest in the idea
We ask for Ned’s declassified to be a functional adult but no one on Nickelodeon knows how to make good decisions
Imagine making a sequel movie after so many years, only to yet again NOT have Chase and Zoey get married, but end in the same way as the show did
I love how he uses the grandma vacuuming as a way to hide kisses. He needs to do the Disney channel original movie Slumber party. I haven’t seen it yet but I rather he sees it
I remember joking with my sister a few years back about which series wouldn't ever get a secuel (Zooey 101 being in the top 10) since they don't have anything for it. The joke became reality... Man what times we are living on.
I love watching Alex's videos like this since it means I can know what happens in "nostalgic" movies without actually having to watch them, but even just these 15 minutes seem too long. 😓
The trailer that showed that guy roasting Jamie lynn saying she's still stuck in high school is all I need to know about this movie. Still haven't forgiven her for scamming her fans
The appeal of the movie was that the gang was going back to PCA so i assumed that during a high school reunion someone was gonna propose and there would have been a time jump to the wedding at PCA but this went a completely different route. PCA being shut down was such a stupid storyline because there was no mention of it in the original show but whatever i enjoyed how they went back to the school at the end
My issue with 102 is that they did not stay true to the main character. Zoey was NEVER the goofy silly one, she was always so serious and chase was more friendly and goofy. They could have stayed true to the main characters and been more realistic with their endings. I’m just happy that Logan and Quinn finally got married 🫶🏼
In the writers defence (a little bit) they had to retcon Zoey and Chase’s relationship following the series finale because Dan Schneider already did it in a CZcams short. In the short, Chase is on a date with another girl implying that him and Zoey weren’t together. Sure one could argue that the short isn’t canon and they could have ignored it, especially since Chase spends the entire short wanting to know what Zoey said on the Time Capsule disc which wouldn’t make sense if he was mad at her, but I’ve always seen it as canon.
I have never listened to a podcast in my life, but I have total confidence that Alex’s little cut away gag perfectly represented the typical podcast 😂
The weird thing is, nostalgia for Zoey 101 IS a thing still. I know a ton of people who will mention it immediately when bringing up childhood shows. I never liked it, but the following is huge. So I wonder if anyone will really watch this, being on a streaming platform. Also Jamie Lynn Spears kinda sucks these days
Love how movies and shows STILL use the attending two events at once plot.
Swear it's just as fresh as when Fred Flintstone was divided between Pebbles's birthday and that lodge meeting before most of us were born
They’ve been working on it for years before the Brittney Spears came out about how bad her family is and apologized to the actress that played Nicole. Should’ve been Ned’s Declassified
"Extroverts has ruined society" YES!! THANK YOU!!
Is everyone supposed to pretend to be an introvert now? The world is going to be so dulll
@Just DabiraI think is more of the fact that extroverts usually push everything and kinda moves many of the trends and mainstream, while we may just want everyone to do it's own thing and let diversity exist without hate or trouble or constant questioning of everything
@justdabira6035 Wow you kinda prove our point, if that's how you see people who are different than you.
@Katie Pike No. Thats not it. I have no issue with introverts. I have an issue with introverts acting like being an extrovert is a bad thing. Many extroverts feel like they have to pretend.
How did she even get a reboot after what Britney revealed about them 💀
Without having watched the movie myself, it sounds like it's filled with the most convoluted, lazily written plot devices. I'm glad channels like this covered it, because there's no way I could have enjoyed sitting through it in full lol
I actually really enjoyed the movie, but I feel like if I had been a huge fan of the show I would’ve hated it because what a bummer to find out that Zoey and Chase don’t get together until 15 years later and that Zoey lives a basically miserable life until then 🙄
This *revival movie never needed to happen and it felt really unnecessary. The original series had a good finale and especially a good conclusion for Zoey and Chase. Plus if a revival movie has to happen, why didn't they just go with a simple high school reunion plot at PCA? It's also funny how Chase is the only character with a normal career as an elementary school teacher compared to his friends. The others are either rich, famous, or working for Hollywood. How millennial relatable...lol. But Chase also could've been a teacher a PCA instead of literally having the entire school shut down after they graduated. Why didn't Quinn work for PCA as well and have Logan continuing funding the school? Weird missed opportunities there.
Plus half of the cast weren't involved in this movie.... So it even makes _less_ sense to do this "reunion" at all. 😂
Revival not reboot
@Giovanni Giovanni. Noted!
This! Plus, the Zoey 101 finale wasn't even their senior year (the timeline doesn't add up), so this movie makes no sense.
Thank you for this. I did like Zoey 101 when it first aired. And I did not want to watch this because I figured they’d ruin it. And I was right. And this is probably the only way I’d get through it lol. Thank you for doing heroes work out here
Zoey 101 made me feel insecure because the school and area was super nice compared to my life at the time (well, and now. But I have enough perspective now to know that California is just extra like that, lol). When I found out the show was using a college, I felt a lot better because the money poured into making a college look like that makes sense. And yes, I'm positive there are schmancy high schools like that as well, but this show wasn't showing one of them, and that's all that mattered 😂
After the whole drama with nicole’s actess I really didnt want this reboot. 😕
Same
Your “my favourite murder” podcast reenactment was the new best thing I’ve ever seen. 11/10 hilarious (•⏑•)
I was completely hooked on your video, congratulations! I can't wait to see more of your incredible creations.
This is one of those "nostalgia" things where, despite me being a 32 year old who watched Zoey 101 at least once, I literally don't remember anything being referenced...
I feel like all these reboots are basically just people being stuck in high school forever. Like I’ve haven’t been in high school for a long time, why would I relive that drama.
I would do anything for you to make a full version of your "My Favorite Murder" parody 😂 The way those true crime podcasts treat murders like they're entertainment material is so unsettling to me, and I'd love to see a full version of you ribbing at it.
It doesn’t help the nostalgia factor that aside from Jamie, unless you’ve been following the actors they’re not that recognisable from their show selves. The iCarly revival (calling it a reboot goes into you keep using that word territory) worked better in part because Miranda, Nathan, Jerry and the others still resemble their characters from where they were left off in 2012 and the show had them go through adult adjusting by the time of the revival picking things up.
iCarly has been a revival/sequel very well done!🙌🏼
iCarly's revival has actually proved itself to have been very much needed. Some loose ends were left from the original and even the writers, both old and new, of the revival series have done so well and it's virtually even way better that it's predecessor original. A good blend of nostalgia, resident humor and much newness especially humanely fleshing up each of the characters, now grown up adults not just the usual extreme mean-spirited jokes that were passed for gags on the original.
I just watched all of the icarly reboot and I actually do like it after season one. There's clearly thought and new content in the jokes. Some of it is a bit quick in the character development but you can tell there's more story behind it. Zoey 102 was disappointing because it really did just feel like a long movie with not much going on. It negated a ton of the ending and nice wrap up of the show, and scenes had few original jokes or points to them. I think icarly mixed the nostalgia well into new plot lines while Zoey 101 heavily relied on just repeating old stuff. Too bad cuz I really liked it when I was younger.
Personally i liked it. I think it speaks a lot on how expectations don't always become reality. Watching the show you expected them to become pretty successful adults and they didn't but thats part of life. Sometimes second chances are a good thing.
For people who keep saying that Ned's should get a reboot, I somewhat agree. But Zoey 101 was the more popular show! Plus, Ned's declassified was in the mix of other popular shows like Avatar and Drake and Josh. So, it wasn't as popular as those shows were. I will say Ned's declassified was better than Zoey 101!! I don't think any show should be rebooted. But I get why Zoey got one.
Ned’s was literally a live action cartoon show
@pleaseshutup7053 I don't know what you mean. What does that have to do with anything? When I said in the mix, I meant those shows were more popular than Ned's.
@Kevin Schoenfeld you are talking about how Ned’s is a mix of shows
@Please Shut Up Oh! Well, I fixed my comment. Sorry for the misunderstanding
The saddest part is Ned’s is still more pleasant to watch than any other live action Nickelodeon show
Why are we in our 30s holding on to a high school love interest? Get over it maam 😂 I could have used a different story line
I read the fictional dating show name wrong and have I got the show for you. Love: fully clothed. A dating show where nobody is allowed to have sex or get naked.
Didn’t they make one of those
Alex are you alright? You're pumping these videos out so fast. I hope he's not suffering from burnout :(
The hilarious thing about all these sequel movies is watching how all the couples they paired up at the end of the show just didn't work out at all. There's always this mad scramble to make sure everyone winds up with someone, but breaking them up for the movie always happens somehow. Teen wolf did this especially well 🤣
The whole plot here felt like an excuse. Like on top of Zoey & Chase still harboring feelings for each other 15 years after their relationship lasted a matter of weeks, we're supposed to believe that Quinn & Logan have actually been together 15 years and are just now getting engaged, AND that all but 2 of their high school friends have remained close enough to them to be part of their wedding party?
I love reboots when they’re done well but so often they never capture the feeling of the original. I think movie franchises can get away with it if they have a lot of the original cast but they need to get that script feeling close to the OGs. And I think that’s the issue writing and dialogue has changed and it always comes through on the thing you’re watching and then it fails to capture the feeling it was trying to invoke
I watched this at 1am and cackled so loud at the my favorite murder part, I woke the whole house.
No regrets, thank you sir. Best after work cheer up lol
I want Alex to do a lore explanation video in his style it would be funny
0:49 Proposing after 2 dates aside, a person above the age of 20 specifying "and a half" for their age is a major red flag for me.
I'll literally never stop loving the silly animations and jokes.
Ah, Zoey 101: Jamie Lynn Spears' failed attempt to step out of her sister's shadow.
I feel like that's wrong. This was less her attempting to step out of her sister's shadow, and more her exploiting her sister to get her own piece of the pie.
If anything, I'd rather they shifted the focus from Zoey to her younger brother Dustin. Or even just doing a book series, an idea that popped in my head as I watched arguably my third video about how bad this movie is.
5:50 This was WAY better than the whole movie. Love you!
Alex, you're a gift to the world 😂😂 it's been years since I laughed this hard
Schneider is the main reason these shows were a hit in the first place. Not saying he should’ve been involved at all in these reboots but that’s definitely the charm that’s missing
Exactly. Say what you want about the man, but you gotta give credit where credit is due.
Zoey 101 aired here about two years later than it did in probably the rest of the world and was the only non-animated show five year old me would watch. I have a lot of fond memories of it and still rewatch it at least once a year cause I genuinely enjoy it and it holds up better than you'd expect a danwarp show to (personal opinion). However as much as I love the show I hate that they rebooted it especially now knowing about the drama behind the scenes. I did still watch it though cause I love Erin Sanders (Quinn) and had a major crush on her and Matthew Underwood (Logan) upon rewatching Zoey 101 in my tween years.
The most realistic thing about this movie is the fact that the whole cast looks like walking bags of potatoes compared to how they used to.
Love how they keep acknowledging that its weird to be hung up on your hs ex but still has them end up together. I feel like in any other movie they would have to let go of the past to accept the guy right in front of u, the guy shes fake dating
As a person who has never watched Zoey 101, I find this as an absolute win!
