I'm pretty sure Yolanda would have supported that if becoming a volleyball player was her dream. But it wasn't.
And Gigi once told in an interview that she wanted to be in the modeling industry way before but her mother told her to wait few more years to focus on school (having a normal life) and to be prepared what was waiting ahead. (Modeling industry could be a harsh place to grow up in) And in that way Gigi still had enough time to think about what she really wants to do.
Being a model requires a lot. Yolanda knows more than anybody the determination it takes to survive in that world. I think that Yolanda was showing her daughter all those things - consequences if you choose for that industry.
And in that birthday cake scene of that terrible show, you could see Gigi was taking more bites out of the cake and couldn't care less what Yolanda was saying to her. Ánd Yolanda didn't get angry about it either.

Bella wanted to be a professional Horse rider but couldn't due to her health issues (lol as if Yolanda would let her) and Gigi wanted to be a Volleyball player but Yolanda didn't let her be. Both the sisters ended up being models. Yolanda must be so happy now, she got what she wanted

Don't force your children on the things that you liked or want them to be. Because not all the things you want for them makes them happy and confident. Instead support them. Imagine if gigi would be a volleyball player and bella is a horse back rider that is awesome, right?
